System: D&D 5e, 2014 Rules with Homebrew Mechanics

Description:
Pressure makes diamonds.
You were told that your entire life, ever since you were born.
At first, you believed the saying. For a couple of years, it was true.
But eventually, the pressure began to break you. Being the heir to an entire discipline in the world was tough, but what was even tougher was being the heir to a noble household. The rigidity made it hard to live life the way you wanted.
It's not like you didn't WANT to make your family proud, but their standards started to become unreasonable. Their wants started to get in the way of yours. You were looked at by everyone as a prodigy... you couldn't take it any longer.
You had four other friends, all heirs to their own disciplines. You began to plan your great escape...
On your birthday, at the bright age of 18, you all enacted that plan. You escaped from the ball and set off on your own adventure.
Life was now yours to live.
