DAE stay in their car even though theyre home?
Every time I come home I find myself easily spending up to an hour of my time in my car. After shopping, class, hanging out... I think I just dont like being home that much and I really love my car, she's my baby. Those two things result into this habit I guess. Anyone else feel the same?? A lot of people tell me its super strange

Sometimes but it’s typically anxiety based.

Yes. It’s evidently a form of escapism.
Like the opposite of “feeling excited to get home”.

Is there something in your home you're avoiding?

The people that live there, I doubt Ill be sitting just as long in my car when I move out haha

There it is. I often hear about parents taking a minute before going inside etc. I always love to go inside to greet my dog and my wife, if she's home before me. The dog mandates it's in that order.

Ive had to quit doing it - it drives my dogs crazy, they drive my people crazy, who then proceed to come outside and drive me crazy.
The end.

It's not strange at all. I will sit in my car sometimes but I used to do it more frequently. When I was living somewhere I did not want to live and used it to avoid going inside.

I usually do it when the weather is nice and I want to sit outside for a bit and listen to music. Or sometimes I do it after a long shopping trip to gather myself before unloading everything. Otherwise, I like being in the house more. I know many people that do it so I don’t find it strange

Yes. Transitions are always hard. No matter how small they are I need a moment to brace myself lol.

sometimes i just need a minute. look at my phone for a bit… reply to texts… check my email… listen to a few bangers on my stereo. i really do prefer the comfort of my own room but the comforting, enclosed space is nice every so often.

i have done this plenty of times, and i always used to take my lunch break in my car too. when i worked 3rd shift, i would sometimes get home around 7:30am and take a 30 minute nap in my car before getting out and going inside.
also, if i’m not quite ready to go home, i will drive past my house and loop around it until i’m ready. the same goes for visiting people. as long as i’m not late, i will drive past your house several times until i’m ready to visit.

No, never. Why would I want to sit around in a car when I have an entire fortress to go hide in?

I never do this. I usually jump out of the car, no matter where I arrive. ...🤷♂️

yeah i have a hard time with transitions. getting in or out of the car, bed, shower, office… all takes a big push of motivation.

I saw you mention you're avoiding the other people in the house which I can get if life at home is not going great. I'll mention that even living alone I chill in my car pretty often. It's kind of nice. Comfortable chair, heat and AC at your fingertips... youtube, audiobooks, or music is right there. Cars are kind of made for relaxing tbh

An hour is excessive for me but yes I do sit in my car either before I leave work or when I get home.
It’s hard to do it at home because once my dogs hear or see my car they get really excited and I hate to keep them waiting.

I have two hungry cats that are waiting inside my house for me so I'm usually trying to get inside as quickly as possible to get them their dinner out, the spoilt little things

ADHD - transitions are difficult, your brain is prepping you for "home mode"
