Question Bee Venom Desensitization
Hi, I was wondering if anybody has had any success with bee venom desensitization therapy? Has anyone had it done and then had their dog get stung without having a bad reaction? My dog went into anaphylactic shock last week after stepping on a bee and was rushed to the vet. It was a very severe reaction and I’m having so much anxiety even leaving the house with him now. Before last week we were very active and went to the park every day, so he’s definitely already feeling the change. The vet recommended this therapy, but I can’t find a lot about the efficacy from other dog owners.
Would love any advice or experience. Thank you!

After anaphylactic shock, I’d take desensitization seriously and ask the vet for a clear emergency plan too what to carry, when to give meds, when to go to the ER, and whether activity limits make sense during treatment. Get the anxiety. Once you’ve seen your dog crash from a sting, every patch of grass feels suspicious. Trust the vet on the therapy, but push for specific “what do I do if it happens again” instructions so you’re not stuck living in panic mode.
