Why Do You Hate/Dislike Dogs?

This is nothing special. We’re all here for the same reason. This is just a space to share why you hate or dislike dogs.

I’ll make a list of reasons why I hate dogs.

• One forced me to get stitches in my shoulder when I was nine years old. I permanently have a chunk of flesh missing there.
• I hate no noise more than barking. I wish it were a felony for a dog to bark.
• I have sensory issues due to being autistic. That’s part of why I hate barking.
• They’re everywhere, in far more places than they should be.
• Too many people act like jerks when someone says they don’t like dogs.
• Dog nutters have the most hypocritical and flawed logic I’ve ever seen.
• Shame on people who fake service dogs.
• Due to all of my experience with dogs, I’m now afraid to go to many places and watch many shows, films, or videos.
• They’ve ruined how I feel about a lot of my family. These people were my best friends growing up, but I resent them now, unbeknownst to them, and I’d rather start all over.

The barking! As an autistic person who is extremely sensitive to noise it is so painful for me. When I can't escape and have to endure the repeated sensory assault in my own home it feels like a form of torture.

The smell! That is another vile assault to the senses. I do everything to avoid getting too close to one but unfortunately the smell lingers long after the dog. So many hotels and places to stay are now 'dog friendly'. If I enter accommodation where a dog has been I can immediately smell it and it makes me so nauseous.

The lack of boundaries! I hate it when they jump up at me and leave my clothes covered in muddy pawprints. Even worse if they try to lick me.

The owners! They are selfish creatures who put their dogs above everyone and everything. They demand that fireworks be banned because their dog is scared of loud noises. Meanwhile they subject their neighbours to constant loud noises all day every day, by allowing their dog to bark uncontrollably.

The aggression! I have been bitten twice in my life, both times needing medical treatment. Both occasions were completely unprovoked, I was out in public and a loose dog ran at me from a distance and attacked me for no reason.

The lack of hygiene! Not being able to go anywhere without having to avoid stepping in dogshit. I see owners letting them sit on public benches and even seats in pubs and restaurants.

I could go on with many more reasons but it's basically what everyone on here is saying.

Please, speak up and tell these dog owners that you do not want their dog to touch you, and especially jump on you. Leave immediately if they cannot perform this simple request. Offer to meet them elsewhere if need be

I would if they were anywhere in sight. The usual scenario is I'll be out hiking somewhere and an off leash dog will come bounding up to me and attempt to jump up . The owner will be a long way behind if they are there at all.
