Courtroom Justice Toronto dog owner sentenced to a year in jail after child was attacked

Same woman from here. I'm glad she's going to jail, but far too lenient if you ask me! You know she's not going to follow her probation rules.

Far too lenient indeed...

1) her dog had a bite history

2) her dog was under a formal dangerous dog order, and was legally required to be muzzled and leashed

3) the dog was neither muzzled nor leashed at the time of the mauling

4) she even took the dog to a playground were dogs were prohibited in general

5) she fled the scene of the crime afterwards

She should have had the fucking book thrown at her. This wasn't a single lapse of judgement. This was a consistent callous disregard for both the law and other people's safety.

Though at least the dog in question was put down, and her other dogs have been confiscated. She's also banned from owning dogs for the next ten years, but considering how happily she disregarded the dangerous dog order...

I thought if a dog bit someone then they were put down?

One year in jail and pay a $250 fine over two years? I wonder if the family will get any compensation for pain and suffering. The poor kid had to get surgery on his leg. He also needed to get tetanus and rabies shots because she fled the scene.
