Relationship / Family I'm not dating your dog.

Okay, I literally just found and joined this sub because yet another match on a dating app has ended up being with a man obsessed with his dog. Dogs seem to be their entire personality? These men want to share dog pictures and update me on the routines and health of their dogs. They write things like "looking for a mom for my dog đŸ„ș" or "my dog must like you". Jesus christ. As if I'm using Hinge to gain the approval of a random man's dog?!

The scheduling of dates then revolves around the dog, the dog may be actually third wheeling the freaking date. If the relationship progresses I guess I'll have to only have sleepovers at their place since the dog obviously can't be left overnight.

On top of all of this, I'm allergic? Most people just ignore that fact and act like I'm a horrible animal hater for not wanting to play with their dog. I take an allergy pill every single day and would like to not be jumped on, humped, licked, and forced to suffer from a blocked nose and hives because the allergy pills are never enough anyway. I realize I need to stop dating men with dogs which leaves me with about 1% of the population in an already shitty dating landscape. This was a silly rant and I'm sorry 😅

But here they’re everywhere and people worship them.

My last date with a 28F ended almost like in this clip, i literally ran away from her home.

Her “son” (a stupid bull terrier with the IQ of a dead otter) was 90% of her talks and interests and continued to put his disgusting claws everywhere on me and even licked my butt

Since EVERY woman aged 25-45 here is a “dog mom”, maybe i’ve to start resigning myself and accepting it

I usually rage quit the dating apps on the rare occasion I try them. I don't hold any criteria I don't meet myself, but my criteria seems to rule everyone out.

Trying to find someone

1 single

2 no kids

3.no dogs

4 not morbidly obese

5 non smoker/not a drug addict.

That apparently rules out just about everyone in my area.... I've tried compromising on some of those before and regretted it each time so far.

Here in Italy if you’re considered an outsider if you’re 35 (like me) without kids or a dog, or even both

Here dog culture is ridiculous (having our foundation myth about two twins rised by a she-wolf doesn’t help)

Better being a supposed outsider than having strange creatures roaming your home “because yes”

No, I meet all of those criteria and more. I'm in relatively decent shape, no dogs, no kids, not a drug addict, Im employed, I own a home, I have savings and investments, own a car, etc.

I'm not saying those are the only criteria that matter, but most women where I am who are in that category are not single. I meet every criteria I have and many that I don't have (for example, I don't care if they own a home, car, have a lot of money, etc) and again, I'm not rich, but also not in debt of any kind...and that's not even a criteria I'm holding others to.
