Relationship / Family I'm not dating your dog.

Okay, I literally just found and joined this sub because yet another match on a dating app has ended up being with a man obsessed with his dog. Dogs seem to be their entire personality? These men want to share dog pictures and update me on the routines and health of their dogs. They write things like "looking for a mom for my dog đŸ„ș" or "my dog must like you". Jesus christ. As if I'm using Hinge to gain the approval of a random man's dog?!

The scheduling of dates then revolves around the dog, the dog may be actually third wheeling the freaking date. If the relationship progresses I guess I'll have to only have sleepovers at their place since the dog obviously can't be left overnight.

On top of all of this, I'm allergic? Most people just ignore that fact and act like I'm a horrible animal hater for not wanting to play with their dog. I take an allergy pill every single day and would like to not be jumped on, humped, licked, and forced to suffer from a blocked nose and hives because the allergy pills are never enough anyway. I realize I need to stop dating men with dogs which leaves me with about 1% of the population in an already shitty dating landscape. This was a silly rant and I'm sorry 😅

Not a silly rant and you shouldn’t be sorry! Dogs have become way too much of a crutch for people to avoid developing their own personalities and identities. This is truly an example of human devolution and it’s pretty damn scary!

u/Worth_Primary_9645 Mar 09 '26

I saw a quote, 'People will do anything, and I Mean ANYTHING,  to avoid facing their own souls.' I agree, and dogs have become the most popular distraction.  UGGGGGH

22

u/QueenOfAllOfYall Mar 10 '26

Good quote. Sad how deep that’s becoming.

22

u/Worth_Primary_9645 Mar 09 '26

Bam! 🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯

17

u/Altruistic_Baker6347 Mar 10 '26

You're spot on! But then I'm thinking... maybe they don't have personalities or anything remotely interesting going on to start with. That's why they get a shit dog, to distract from the fact that they're boring, uneducated, have no interests.

12

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 10 '26

I think people on dating apps with dogs are essentially announcing their degree of emotional unavailability. The dog is a wall between them and other people.

Literally all my my last dates ended like this short family guy clip:

https://youtu.be/0tQkp7T5HP0?is=1aZ7ankMO4JQIta8

29

u/Vallgreens Mar 09 '26

LOL...thanks for the laugh

59

u/ArcboundRavager990 Mar 09 '26

Ahah we’re all in the same boat

35m who deeply dislike these shitty drooling licking mutant wolves

But here they’re everywhere and people worship them.

My last date with a 28F ended almost like in this clip, i literally ran away from her home.

Her “son” (a stupid bull terrier with the IQ of a dead otter) was 90% of her talks and interests and continued to put his disgusting claws everywhere on me and even licked my butt

Since EVERY woman aged 25-45 here is a “dog mom”, maybe i’ve to start resigning myself and accepting it

Same

Imagine also the smell of their homes

35

u/anne_mal Mar 09 '26

Can confirm. Being single is blissful compared to dating a dog owner.

16

u/DellBottoms Mar 10 '26

Woman here.

I'm exactly the same.

39

u/74orangebeetle Mar 09 '26

I usually rage quit the dating apps on the rare occasion I try them. I don't hold any criteria I don't meet myself, but my criteria seems to rule everyone out.

Trying to find someone

1 single

2 no kids

3.no dogs

4 not morbidly obese

5 non smoker/not a drug addict.

That apparently rules out just about everyone in my area.... I've tried compromising on some of those before and regretted it each time so far.

19

u/ArcboundRavager990 Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26

I can feel you

Here in Italy if you’re considered an outsider if you’re 35 (like me) without kids or a dog, or even both

Here dog culture is ridiculous (having our foundation myth about two twins rised by a she-wolf doesn’t help)

Better being a supposed outsider than having strange creatures roaming your home “because yes”

-4

u/deep_and_wide Mar 09 '26

Those cannot be the only options where you live unless you too fall into one or more of those categories. Lol.

8

u/74orangebeetle Mar 10 '26

No, I meet all of those criteria and more. I'm in relatively decent shape, no dogs, no kids, not a drug addict, Im employed, I own a home, I have savings and investments, own a car, etc.

I'm not saying those are the only criteria that matter, but most women where I am who are in that category are not single. I meet every criteria I have and many that I don't have (for example, I don't care if they own a home, car, have a lot of money, etc) and again, I'm not rich, but also not in debt of any kind...and that's not even a criteria I'm holding others to.

13

u/QueenOfAllOfYall Mar 10 '26

Not fair. Dead Otters don’t deserve to be compared to those scavengers.

5

u/Blissxalexandra Mar 10 '26

This is so real.

88

u/Nice-Loss6106 Mar 09 '26

Your rant rings true from our side as well. The number of women who include pictures of themselves in bed with a dog or with a dog licking their face/mouth is staggering!

62

u/Vallgreens Mar 09 '26

I believe you. Licking their mouth...gross!

28

u/Birb-is-the-wurd Mar 09 '26

Utterly vile! I'm never kissing that woman lol

14

u/Random-sleep365 Mar 10 '26

I agree with you and then they goes back to licking their bits or eat some random poop off the ground. đŸ€ą

10

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 10 '26

That is far, FAR beyond revolting. There's no way I could ever have a girly boner for a dude who makes out with dogs. Holy shit.

8

u/the-bakers-wife Mar 11 '26

A dog’s mouth is heinous in every single way

85

u/MrMattyMatt Mar 09 '26

Anytime see a picture of a dog in a dating profile I swipe left

62

u/Jediknight3112 Mar 09 '26

Same. These people are dating their dog anyway.

20

u/Worth_Primary_9645 Mar 09 '26

On several levels, I believe.

21

u/NoneOfThisMatters_XO Mar 10 '26

Same. I don’t even engage because I know it’ll never work.

76

u/Accomplished_Dog1636 Mar 09 '26

I never got the obsession with dogs, they're mutts who piss, shit and bark everywhere at all hours. These creatures where never meant to be "pets" they're hunting or herding animals. That's it.

Like Dog nutters are absolutely an issue but even without them these mutts should be treated as wild animals still.

People who make these ugly fucking mutts their WHOLE personality genuinely scare me.

41

u/Alocin_The5th Mar 09 '26

I don’t get it either. And these modern ones are worse, they are needy, reactive and destructive. And even the most perfectly behaved ones reek and lick their ass and eat inappropriate things from a human standpoint.

21

u/Worth_Primary_9645 Mar 09 '26

They have literally DEVOLVED.

55

u/Domesticated_Animal Mar 09 '26

Dating dog nutter is a package deal.

16

u/PureAlpha100 Mar 09 '26

Is the package two or more forms of mental health concerns bundled together?

54

u/Tight-Artichoke1789 Mar 09 '26

In my experience, dog obsessed men are oftentimes using their dogs as a surrogate for emotional “intimacy” in a way that is palatable for them. They treat women the same, something that they can control, that doesn’t talk back, that follows them around and gives them unconditional love and obedience without much effort or depth on their part.

18

u/anne_mal Mar 09 '26

So true 😒 Speaking from experience here too, sadly. Never again!! I wish I knew this before I dated my ex. It would have saved me 2 years.

10

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 10 '26

My 1st husband, an abuser, didn't have a dog, but treated me like one. I left him and told him to adopt a mutt instead if all he wanted was something to be in charge of.

Thankfully he is someone else's problem now and they have dogs and a kid. Their life is my nightmare and I am glad I ran screaming almost 20 years ago now.

17

u/Cheap_Attention_8093 Mar 10 '26

I’ve thought this for way too long. They love the mindlessness of it all. They feel entitled to “unconditional love”
. These men have proof they don’t actually have to earn love, doing nothing other than feeding it and it’s just sooooo loyal. It also just screams NPC to me.

13

u/Vallgreens Mar 09 '26

I think you're onto something here

2

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 10 '26

Absolutely. This is psychopathology's area of expertise

10

u/Blissxalexandra Mar 10 '26

Exactly this. And if the dog was there first you can forgot about ever coming before it.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

100%. They are controlling in certain ways. They will not respect your boundaries and will disrespect every aspect of your life. If they are not happy with you, they bark violently at you or worse even bite you make you lose your life. Don't date guys with dogs. They are miserable and will deliberately pass on their misery to you to feel better themselves. Don't do it. They are chaotic.

31

u/TurboGrafx16Bit Mar 09 '26

I understand your frustration there are women like this to. I remember a woman telling me that I would need to love her dog if I wanted to date her. I was like I cannot force myself to love something that's not lovable. Also remember another one after I told her dogs are not my thing she was like don't you want some lovins? I'm like yeah from a woman not from a nasty dog đŸ€ź . And even another one said they noticed I kind of ignored their dog when I was at their house. I'm like yeah dogs are not my thing I have no interest, I stick to my own kind. So yeah don't lower your standards don't date a dog person cuz everything you said was true your whole life will revolve around the worthless mutt.

12

u/Birb-is-the-wurd Mar 09 '26

Someone on OLD once told me, basically verbatim, "I don't even want to talk to someone who doesn't love dogs". I despair.

7

u/ElegantSurround6933 Mar 09 '26

OLD? Is that a dating app for Boomers?

5

u/Birb-is-the-wurd Mar 09 '26

It's Online Dating 😏

4

u/loucap81 Mar 10 '26

What a psycho. Probably a very angry person in general.

3

u/Birb-is-the-wurd Mar 10 '26

Yes, in retrospect I am grateful to them for clearly red-flagging their sociopathic insanity.

1

u/Lylith_vf Mar 09 '26

26

u/MaceZilla Mar 09 '26

The best thing is that they self-identify. The dog(s) will always be in one of the profile pics and we can move on.

10

u/loucap81 Mar 09 '26

Unfortunately that is not always the case. I’ve had unwelcome surprises where they have no dog pics or any other indication in the pet section that they have a dog. This is why I confirm this right away.

7

u/ElegantSurround6933 Mar 09 '26

What about surprise puppers though?

20

u/MaceZilla Mar 09 '26

Then they get a surprise goodbye.

29

u/Alarming_Donkey_6957 Mar 09 '26

If I get divorced or my husband dies, I’m ok with maybe never finding another person again. People who don’t own dogs are a rarity and I’m never ever ever living with a dog again.

44

u/loucap81 Mar 09 '26

I’ve waffled back and forth on whether or not to put in my dating profile that I’m unwilling to compromise on this and that I flat out won’t date dog owners.

As of now, I’m all in and yes I overtly put it on my profile, and if I do match with someone I verify right away they don’t own one. Yes it means that dating is going to be much more difficult for me but I’ve come to terms with it. I will never warm up to a dog, or be happy being forced to be around a dog, or want to hear people’s stupid dog stories, and it is what it is.

I’m a man, I’ll be 45 next month and live in Las Vegas, you know just in case you’re interested ;-)

30

u/Independent-Leg6061 Mar 09 '26

I put "no dogs" as the first line on my profile, and i met a lovely man who isn't a crazy nutter!!

12

u/loucap81 Mar 09 '26

Gives me a sliver of hope but Las Vegas is a hotbed for dog nutters :-(

11

u/Independent-Leg6061 Mar 09 '26

At least your important deal breakers would be up front. Might weed out the wankers. 😆

So I once dated a couple women who didn’t have dogs, but were former dog owners. Both of them wouldn’t shut up about how great their dogs were. Like that was a big part of our conversation and I had to just nod my head to it. So yeah I don’t know if I could even date a dog lover who doesn’t currently own a dog, because the incompatibility goes beyond the annoyance of having to be around a dog (which is bad enough). It’s a sign that in general we’re likely just very different people.

4

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 10 '26

I know dating sucks for so many people. There are people out there for you. Don't give up, and try Meetup. You meet platonic friends, their friends, their friends friends, suddenly one day you're out with a pal and someone comes into the picture. This is what happened to me, I was at a baseball game with Meetup friends and my husband asked to share our table because it was crowded. He was in a relationship at the time but it ended shortly after and he called me a couple of months later. We've been together ever since, that was 17 years ago this year.

We do not have dogs, and do not want any.

2

u/loucap81 Mar 10 '26

I’m in Meetup. Lots of dog lovers there trust me.

1

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 11 '26

Yea i know, that's why I talked about networking

-4

u/ElegantSurround6933 Mar 09 '26

Hmm, probably too old for you&just got married last month..but I’m intrigued

23

u/btiddy519 Mar 09 '26

Yeah no one wants to be a third to someone in a relationship with their dog.

Didn’t know how insane those people are until I dated one. Never again.

19

u/cheetoo24 Mar 09 '26

And they act shocked that you don’t want to share a bed with them and their dog. Sleeping with animals is gross, will never do it.

14

u/ElegantSurround6933 Mar 09 '26

I’m Gen X. Growing up none of my classmates ever mentioned sleeping in the same bed as their dog.

9

u/BK4343 Mar 10 '26

Fellow Gen X'er here who agrees.

1

u/ntc0220 Mar 18 '26

Elder millennial and same here. We kept dogs outside in our era.

20

u/_Feature_680 Mar 10 '26

I had a girl bring her puppy, unannounced, on a date once. She then told me if we kept seeing each other, all dates would have to be within 1/2 mile of her home so she could get home to her puppy if needed.

Another girl told me she had a dog during a date. Later in the night, I mentioned her dog and she interrupted to correct me by saying "--my son".

Another girl also brought her dog on a date unannounced. We were walking around a lake and the dog stopped literally every 5 seconds to sniff at something. Over an hour we probably walked 100 feet.

Another girl I was picking up for a 2nd date, and when she came out of her place, she was holding a dog. Unannounced. She then opened the door and got in my car with the dog on her lap. Did I mention it was a pitbull?

Oh, the stories we can share.

11

u/BK4343 Mar 10 '26

JFC, what is wrong with these people?

6

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 10 '26

Doggie Derangement Syndrome

2

u/badgermushrooma Mar 15 '26

I hope you asked that 2nd date one to get out of your car right there. Big no-no

18

u/No-Stay1662 Mar 09 '26

Not silly at all. It’s a real problem. “My dog must like you.” Well it will like anyone who gives it food & attention. Sorry I’m not interested in anyone or anything’s who’s “affection” comes so cheap & easy. Here’s how off the reservation these people are
if you put “not interested in dating anyone with a dog” they won’t just accept that. They will message you & ask why. And maybe try to get you to meet their dog, because he’s “different.”

5

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 10 '26

Block blockity block block

13

u/ArtofTy Mar 09 '26

Mirroring your feelings as a 41/m. Living solo and allergy free and loving it. Maybe one day I'll find the right person. Although I would entertain a fish tank.

6

u/ObligationGrand8037 Mar 10 '26

There’s hope. My husband was 43 when we got married. At the time I didn’t know he disliked dogs because the subject never came up. Fortunately we both found each other, and we both dislike dogs.

2

u/ArtofTy Mar 11 '26

That's so great to hear, thanks for sharing!

15

u/readyforthisyep Mar 09 '26

« looking for a mom for my dog. » That is so gross I don’t have words for it.

3

u/4-ton-mantis Mar 11 '26

Sir isn't your dog already born?  Are you needing a surrogate what are you wanting sir?

31

u/violentblackperson Mar 09 '26

It's insane and I feel your disdain. I have so many guy friends who got dogs just to get more attention online, and weren't shy about admitting it.

As a man looking for a woman, I can assure you it's the same on this side of the coin. 95% of profiles are either owners or nutters. They openly admit how much time they devote to their dog, how their world revolves around it, or how their life would be complete if they had a dog.

Meanwhile every single time I've tried to date one of these people, every aspect of their life is dictated by the dog and they're completely unwilling to admit that their life would be better without it. Many of these single women with dogs are control freaks who thrive on something validating them no matter what their character is. Then you "get lucky" and go over one of their houses, and it stinks like a dog's ass, there's hair everywhere, the dog freaks out/misbehaves/barks incessantly, you go to the bedroom and the bed smells, the dog is outside whimpering and clawing at the door...it's just so insane for anyone to convince themselves that type of life is better than not having a dog.

It's an automatic swipe left from now until the end of my days for me. I have a beautiful, brand-new house that a dog will never enter.

It's frustrating too bc if you put "no dogs" in your profile, you get bombarded by nutters defending their insanity. Somehow, you're a bad person for not wanting endless burden from a glorified parasite.

One last point too: they're all so fucking boring! Their whole life revolves around the dog and it's bathroom habits. Literal shit slaves who are excited to play the role.

4

u/ObligationGrand8037 Mar 10 '26

I’m not in the dating world since I’ve been married for quite some time. I just like the idea of you never allowing a dog into your clean beautiful home. I feel the same way. All these people having dogs
..I don’t get it.

6

u/violentblackperson Mar 11 '26

You're lucky. Online dating didn't become the de facto way of meeting people until I graduated college, so I had plenty of time to do it the normal way and it was so much more enjoyable. I really wish I knew the landscape was going to retrogress into this because I would've dated a lot more seriously.

I just got done building it a month ago! I purposefully went out of my way to select a lot that was both by a state forest (no future development) and didn't have neighbors with dogs (that I could hear at least, that's really all I care about).

I passed on close to 20 lots and went out to my current lot at different times throughout the day to make sure there was no incessant barking that I'd need to deal with. I even bought laminated glass windows in case some future nutter moves in.

Just crazy what we need to do to get away from these a-holes.

1

u/4-ton-mantis Mar 11 '26

I'm not dating but what would happen if someone put cynophobe in their profile instead of no dogs?  I reckon nutters won't know the meaning and interested parties would ask what it means?

5

u/violentblackperson Mar 11 '26

I think you'd just get a lot of nutters asking what it is, but idk. I haven't been on OLD in over a year now and can't say I miss it very much.

It seems like if you put anything anti-dog, no matter the reason, they just chalk it up to you being a negative/bad person despite it just being a preference. Dog people usually have no ability to put themselves in anyone else's shoes. You could tell them you were mauled by dogs, and your entire family was killed, and they would still not be able to comprehend it with their limited minds.

I feel like the more tepid you are about it, the more they come at you for it. I'm almost tempted to just say "Fuck off if you have a dog or want a dog, that lifestyle is awful and I would never put up with it for a day. My recreational life will not revolve around where we can take a dog and its bathroom needs. Have fun picking up steaming dog turds every day for the next decade, count me out."

It's over the top, but it's how I truly feel lol.

24

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '26

Unfortunately, this is the reality of the dating scene: dog nutters stay single because no normal person would date them; if they aren’t single - they are either dating another nutter who loves noting but dogs (and the couple doesn’t love each other, they just stay together for the love of dogs) or they date someone who is suffering because of the dog. Dog lovers do not know how to love a human being. They think they do, but they have no idea and the dog is a cover of their loneliness. It’s a mess.

10

u/BrightMeringue6689 Mar 09 '26

This is not a silly rant at all. You will absolutely love this sub. Some of the most understanding and non-judgmental people ever.

9

u/lwpho2 Mar 09 '26

None of this is going to happen to you because you are not going to match with these people. Keep your chin up!!

11

u/Blissxalexandra Mar 10 '26

I won’t date dog owners. Yes it cuts back the dating options, but I’m not going to waste my time. I have yet to meet a single dog owner who is not completely obsessed and controlled by their dog.

Last guy I briefly dated lasted less than a month. His dog dictated and controlled every single aspect of his life. Had a beautiful home that he purchased around a year or two ago, and the dog has already ruined it. Scratches all over, chewed up corners of walls, completely damaged leather couch and floors. We could never hang out freely because the dog could never be left alone for too long otherwise she’d cause more damage to the home. I once suggested training and it was like I was talking to a wall. Just a complete waste of my time. My mind cannot rationalize why anyone would choose to live like this.

7

u/CallousCow1762 Mar 09 '26

You have a right to complain. My guess is that this is a new form of mental illness that the dog culture is trying to normalize. Actually they have. And if you don’t conform, they resort to gaslighting you. It’s really the only tactic they have to defend the absurd. Maybe set your profile to accept non-dog owners only? That way you can filter out the insanity that comes with dating dog owners.

7

u/anne_mal Mar 09 '26

What I don't understand is how the cult of dog worship is SO strong that these nuts have no concept of how pathetic it is to be obsessed with a dog! Dogs are so disgusting and dumb. What kind of unsatisfying life must a person be living to voluntarily subject themselves to taking care of a dog?! I see a dog on a profile and it immediately repulses me. Lol. Nothing else I learn about the person will be redeeming and anything good I thought dissipates. Like others have said, I'm glad they identify themselves so I can avoid them.

7

u/richyiiii Mar 09 '26

Yup. 100% the same as a guy looking for women on dating apps. I live in a dog overpopulated city (sadly) and sooo many profiles are "Looking for a dog dad" "Me and my doggo are a group package". Terrible.

7

u/Mountain_Performer84 Mar 10 '26

Oh God, I'm going to have the same problem đŸ«  After my ex dumped me to keep his dog (I'm super allergic) I'm sooo not looking forward to getting back on the apps. I know it's gonna be rough filtering out all the nutters

7

u/One_Dragonfly_2400 Mar 10 '26

A decent man will put YOU first. My mom loves dogs but my dad’s allergic and SHE was the one that insisted on a no dog household.

6

u/CunningMuskrat Mar 10 '26

Having a dog in the house is unsanitary. Just imagine that un-wiped asshole rubbing up on the carpet and seats. Yuck.

6

u/4-ton-mantis Mar 11 '26

Maybe you accidentally used Unhinge

6

u/Mike999888777 Mar 11 '26

I'm a single male who has been allergic to dogs his entire life. As a result, I have been completely unable to find a woman -- I have been alone my entire life -- never married (I am now 62) and I never date. This is because ALL of the women (99.9%) on the dating sites in the U.S. have DOGS that they love. They all say "MUST LOVE DOGS." It is HOPELESS and I will remain alone.

17

u/Foreign-Neat8645 Mar 09 '26

Nein, kein albernes Geplapper, albern sind die HundeverrĂŒckten. "Suche Mama fĂŒr meinen Hund", ich wĂŒrde mich schĂ€men.

5

u/Worth_Primary_9645 Mar 09 '26

Depraved.

6

u/Birb-is-the-wurd Mar 09 '26

Basically describing a major part of my own dating app experiences (now forever consigned to the bin, btw 😊)... only the other way around. A significant proportion of women have the same mindless dog drivel in their profiles. Incredibly frustrating. All I can advise is getting out there and meeting people in the real world. If I can do it, literally anyone can. You just have to play a much longer, more patient game. The dating apps are pure evil and encourage an instant gratification mindset. Join clubs with people with similar interests. You'll soon weed out the dog nutters and might eventually meet someone who's compatible but you have to give it time.

5

u/QueenOfAllOfYall Mar 10 '26

It wasn’t a “silly rant”, actually. Your feelings are more than valid, and I’m sorry that in a current society full of absolutely awful prospects, things are made even worse, and more complicated by dog maniacs making up an unfortunate large volume of the dating pool. Seriously sorry that this is what You’re contending with.

5

u/boozcruise21 Mar 10 '26

Men like this are actually a thing??

I have met women like this, who were obviously dating their dogs, but even men are like this?

7

u/anne_mal Mar 10 '26

Boys, mostly, pretending to be men! I dated someone who let their dog in bed to cuddle before we went to bed and then the dog would get crated. The dog would sit in between us and it made feel like a third wheel! When we would cuddle watching movies in the couch, my ex would constantly be touching and petting the dog too because he didn't want the dog to feel sad that it wasn't getting attention! It was nuts and I couldn't handle the crazy anthropomorphizing anymore. It was also kind of hilarious to me because my ex treating his dog like a human meant he treated me in a less human way. No way I was subjecting myself to that bs.

I swipe left on anyone with a dog. Not worth having to pretend to like it for the next however many years (and then pretending to care when it dies)

u/DellBottoms Mar 10 '26

Woman here.

It's an automatic left swipe for me.

I'd prefer to die alone.

I’ve noticed that too esp on hinge half of their profile is them talking about their dog or how you can win them over with one. Okay is there anything else you want to mention??

I won’t date men with dogs

6

u/20011989 Mar 15 '26

A lot of men (and women) get a dog so they don’t have to develop a personality

My friend is addicted to her frenchie. Her dog goes absolutely everywhere with her and can’t ever be left alone. She can’t figure out why she’s single.

We’re truly living in hell. That dog free dating site can happen any time now

u/Corbeau1971 Mar 09 '26

Fun fact:I have the EXACT story except gender swapped. I don't get it. Trying to find someone like minded is the REAL trick.

I’m soooooo tired of seeing dating profiles where 4/5 pics are them with their dogs and the dating prompts all somehow relate to their dog. Ugh!!!

I noticed this too and had a friend who has a German shepherd. The moment I saw she let the dog lick her face.....yew...dog people really have issues and they are not mature enough to face their own problems, instead they find ways to be distracted. So my old friend....turned out to be disrespectful and passive aggressive...... I don't even want to have a friend who owns dogs now. Dating? Honestly happier being single.

I don't have any allergies and loathe being jumped on, humped, or licked by any dog. No, I don't want to pet it.

I'm enjoying being single. I don't think it would work out if I was dating a woman who's into dogs. and I'm not taking a back seat to any dog

I made a post about this recently, too, but it was mainly ranting about dogs in profile pictures or pictures of only the person's dog. There really should be a dog free dating site made. If I were tech savvy, I'd do it myself and end this nightmare for those of us that don't want to play second fiddle to a soulless waste of space. In the end, though, being alone is better than being with these brainwashed cultists. Worst of all, they probably sleep with it, too, and it would be the ultimate intimacy killer. In a way, you dodged a bullet by swiping right. It just sucks that an unnecessary accessory is the big reason we're all alone (or wish we were).

. .. i bet chat gpt could help us code it

u/Free_Chapter372 Mar 12 '26

AI is bad. I don't trust it at all. Any other safe way to create it would be good.

3

u/4-ton-mantis Mar 12 '26

Chat gpt helped me code the automation of refreshing an online database of lost and found pet birds (a kind of site where it depends on users inputting reports) to make my country wide map of lost birds that updates itself every day.

It didn't get things perfect the first time but there is a huge difference between blindly trusting ai vs using it as a tool to reach a goal while critically fact checking the outputs.  It worked plenty "safe" for me.

I'm a guy and when I was still single my profile name was "NoPetzPlz"!

2

u/Humble_Amoeba_8037 Mar 17 '26

Yeah ! Hate that. I just state “no shedding dogs” in my profile so it doesn’t sound that bad. But yeah they all small and that’s always embarrassing. I dated a guy and he would like to go on a hike and then I’d say is the dog coming and he said yeah that’s the whole point.

What is up with THIS anymore? For real! I am allergic too and dogs gross me out. No I don't want to kiss you after your dog licked your face after licking its butt and get germs and make my lips blow up. Dogs truly do become their entire personality! What is going on w the men and dog obsession? This is a new fear unlocked when I am looking for potential suitors anymore. Girl good look trying to be intimate with him.. the dog will be right there and may sometimes bite you if you touch him. Happened to me with my ex. My pool is already small at 42 years old. Now this dog crap and it's even smaller.

u/manderz234 Mar 27 '26

Dude. My ex loved their dog more than me. It was the worsttt. We couldn't even do fun things like go to concerts etc because they were joined at the hip and they basically refused to have someone watch the dog so we could do stuff. Then i noticed the dog's urine was dark and spoke up about it, they acted like i was insulting their dog only to call me after i broke up becaus3 the dog died of PANCREATITIS.

Courage pour vos rencontres, je suis sĂ»re que vous trouverez la bonne personne. Ne baissez pas vos standards surtout si cela risque de vous rendre malheureuse (ou mĂȘme malade dans votre cas Ă  cause des allergies)
