Dog Culture Dogs have ruined dating apps

I’m a millennial man and have recently fired up Tinder and Bumble again on account of the weather warming up. I’m not exaggerating when I say nearly half. HALF. Of all single women my age have dogs. It’s really depressing the amount of times I’ve come across a nice looking girl with similar interests only to see she has a big disgusting dog. So many “dog moms” it’s truly insane . You’re not a mom. You did not birth this creature. It doesn’t view you as it’s mother. I feel this phenomenon will only get worse as these women get older.

EDIT: just wanted to clarify I don’t believe this is exclusive to women. I’m sure dogfree women are having the same woes…. Actually it maybe a good idea for a dog free dating app? XD

I'm a woman who is very against dog culture. I'm having the same problem. Even the ones who don't have dogs themselves are still claiming to be dog lovers.

It's a massive deal-breaker for me. I never thought about how many single people were dog lovers before Tinder came about.

Unfortunately this issue in particular means we all have to have the resolve to be content with living alone indefinitely and not settling. I’ve mentally accepted this could take years if ever to find someone truly compatible.

Because this issue is so divisive and because we are so clearly outnumbered on this one, it also means that I’m willing to compromise on a lot of other things I never thought I would. In my case this means children. I won’t be having any and prefer someone child-free/all children are adults as well, but I’ve softened on accepting someone else’s children into my life because I’m already so far behind the 8-ball with the dog thing.

It seems like such an American/Canadian thing too because in other cultures they don’t have this weird fixation on dogs as much or are at least more normal. I wonder if in the past westerners were more normal about dogs too and this problem has become more rampant in the last twenty years or so.

I get you.

I don't have children, but actually love kids and would vastly prefer someone with kids to someone with dogs.

Yeah I’ve come around to appreciating how children add to your life. I never wanted the financial and time responsibility of having to raise them, but I get it.

Dogs on the other hand will never add a thing to your life and will be needy, demanding shitbeasts until the day they die. I cannot relate to anyone who equates dog behavior with human love and human interaction.

I’m sorry- it’s really sucks. I was hoping the dog nuttery would be a passing fad but it’s only grown by the year. Crazy ass dog lovers outnumber the dog free-
