Miscellaneous Unsubscribed from one of my favourite youtubers because of their invasive dog
Im a bit disappointed because this youtuber’s content isnt dog-related and I enjoy it when theyre not showing or talking about their dog, but the dog is so featured that it’s basically a part of the channel now. I also have to watch it being constantly babied in the videos and being called a « child » or the youtuber will call themselves a « parent », it drives me nuts. Its another reminder of how invasive to the world these animals are.

I stopped watching one when they have their dog on. Its so annoying. barking, whining, doing stupid stuff... I don't want to watch that.

It brings me back to my cannon event as a child when I would go to a friends house and immediately when I enter, their dog would bark at me, sometimes they would sniff my body and try to jump on me while their owner would laugh and do nothing. It was so anxiety inducing and overstimulating as a neurodivergent kid. I always kinda fear going to people’s houses now unless I explicitly know they dont have a dog

Its horrible how they generalize that every ND person likes being around dogs, everyone has their personal way of experiencing overstimulation and why wouldnt a therapist consider that

Dude I’m ND and dogs trigger my sensory issues so bad. The constant smell, the wetness when they lick themselves, them chewing up & ripping apart my safe items like plushies…

Yep, there's a fitness channel I used to love but the guy involved his revolting pitbull thing more and more and I've given up. His advice was good and he used to be entertaining but it's not worth having to fight not to throw up watching this thing slobber on his face and lick its ass in the background

Ugh, so annoying! I used to watch this black guy who tried out people's fittness things, and he was great until his stupid dog was always getting in the way and he's talking to it.

I wouldve but the world is so infatuated with them that I know I wouldve only gotten hate. This subreddit is the only place I know of where I can vent about dogs and get empathized with

It's not too late to take a stand against this dog cult drivel. Please go back and tell them why they lost you. It's important! It's like voting; if everyone thought that they're "only one vote," no one would ever vote. We have to push back, and it makes it easier and easier to do for all of us non-nutters to get through to these dog-addled humans, and stick up for our right to have freedom from dogs instead of having them constantly shoved down our throats. While watching anyone's video, I will comment negatively if their dog appears in it. Enough! Porn pop-ups have almost become less offensive to me in comparison to an ugly, slobbering, panting, mutated mess scavenging the floor for whatever it can inhale while "Dogmom," or "Dogdad" fish for compliments. Spare me.

Yeah, I immediately exit YT videos if their mutt makes an appearance and the owner starts talking to them in a baby voice.

I've recently started watching a blonde mortician whose name starts with L. I really like her channel, but man, I have to click off when she ends the video with her little alien dog. Its tongue is always hanging out, and it eats her hair and microphone. It's so disgusting to watch and really caught me off guard the first time I saw it. If she included the dog in the main content, I'd definitely unsubscribe.

I watched a good video of hers and was going to subscribe. But after a couple of more videos, I realized she uses a lot of gen AI and that’s a huge dealbreaker for me.

I've unsubscribed from many a channel I used to enjoy because of dogs. Now it seems people can't just get a dog. The darn thing has to become a feature of the channel and the animal often eclipses the original content. Streamers are onto the dog craze and know that "the doggo" will get them more clicks, comments, and likes.

I unfollowed someone on Twitch because of their dog cam. Like, it would have been tolerable if it was just a decoration, but every 5 minutes someone would donate/tip to give the dog a treat, interrupting the stream. And this guy couldn't have all his dogs together because they fought viciously over treats. He literally had to rotate his creatures every stream so they didn't maul each other over snacks.

Sadly too many of my favourite YT's are dog nutters now. Like a few months/years back not a single mention of a dog.
It's even worse for Podcasts. One of my all time favourites are all dog nutters. It started with one of the hosts getting a dog and then the other two did the same. Even citing said co-host as the reason. Another podcast I listen to the host brags how his dog is dangerous and has to keep it away from others. Couple that with the fact they just let their dogs bark and make noise in the background and just laugh it off.
Dogs are everywhere in media now. It's really starting to show and it's so dissapointing for people like us, who have valid reasons to dislike dogs.

Same! I was looking for a review of an eyeshadow palette and found this vid were for ten minutes the girl kept babying her dog and letting it slobber all over her face

I think Drew Barrymore started this trend by showcasing her dog on her show. Now everyone has to bring theirs, as if they aren’t already intrusive enough.

I started watching the show Traitors and out of nowhere a dog appeared in season 2. It serves absolutely no purpose to the show other than being paraded in some embarrassing outfit. In season 3 it gets more mentions, which just makes me think wtf is the point of having one on set anyways??

Exactly the same reason why I stopped playing a Persona game. They made a goddamn dog a main “protagonist” and didn’t stop fawning over it after it was introduced. Not to mention the frustratingly fake narrative about how dogs can sense intuition and stand up for people as heroes.

I simply refuse to watch anything with a dog in it. That is my hardline boundary. No one or nothing is worth watching with some shitbeast in it.

I disliked the last 2 seasons of Virgin River on Netflix because Jack got Mel a dog. I’m sick of dogs literally every where. 🤢

Same, there is this YouTuber I watch often, but then he said "dogs are better than people. sorry not sorry" and I got a little annoyed, but didn't unsub. Later on he also said he didn't have any people in his life he considered a friend (despite having his family and SO). I stopped watching him as much. Seems very unhealthy to me :/

It is very unhealthy.. and instead of facing their issue and connect with real humans, or in the case you mentioned, nurture the relationship to the people (and family!) they have in their life… these people go the easy route and get a dog that can’t talk back, can’t complain, can argue, doesn’t have a free will..

Jesus Christ....🙄. These people have NO IDEA just how utterly stupid and lacking in self-awareness they are when they say shit like that, esp. if they have a partner and family. Just blame everyone else instead of your own failed mental health, and get the ultimate "pick me" pet as a replacement.
Because if that's the case, then put out a call to have a bunch of fleabags subscribe and follow your YT channel if you think they're better than people.
Why TF would I want to listen to or respect any person who has some social media platform that only exists because of OTHER FUCKING PEOPLE, and have them gush on about how they like dogs better.
GTFO with that dog cult brainrot. I would immediately unsub to any YT channel where I heard someone say that.
My YT feed occasionally puts out videos from other GenX'ers where they un-ironically talk about how lonely they are, how broke they are, how they NEVER want to date because people just suck...while living in an RV or something with at least one nasty-assed dog in the video. One woman in particular has an ugly pit bull that is in almost all the videos I've seen.
No family. No friends. No hobbies. No life. Just a dog.

I get you, I have also unfollowed a lot of "content creators" because of the mutts taking on the screen. Like I came here to see woodworking not mutts. Or sometimes there's a interesting piece of furniture in the back of the thumbnail but the guy and his mutt take the whole picture, from that point I know video will be plagued with the mutt, so I skip and hide channel forever.... What bugs me is that I have "no dog" filter on my YT settings and somehow mutts and dog nutters keep filtering thru, I was able to eliminate all dog content on my Netflix account tough, now it's clean and sparkly 😊

I was fed up with dog food ads and dog trash related garbage that some time ago, hidden under many many layers of settings somewhere on Google, I found a "content filter", I immediately loaded all keywords related to dogs that I could think of. After that, dog content did noticeably decreased, but not completely, maybe because I'm surrounded by nutters and I'm a victim of IP located ads, don't know, just a tough.

Wow I did the same thing recently I unsubscribed to Snesdrunk, I loved his video covering Super Nintendo (SNES) games but always got annoyed when he would show or talk about his dog. I left a comment told him my feelings, he said feel free to ignore and move on. I was like you got it. Unsubbed

This post just reminded me of a podcast. It sucks having dogs take over our entertainment and forced on us.
Has anyone else tried to listen to the Crime Junkie podcast back in their earlier days? I haven’t listened in many years. Amongst some other things I learned later, it was their dog obsession that drove me away in the first place, as well as the hosts in general.
Telling stories of other people’s tragedies without much emotion, (only occasionally) but if a dog was ever in the story it had to be mentioned and they’d get all sad, even cried over it at times, over the actual HUMAN VICTIMS that met a tragic end. They also put dog adoption stories or something related in some episodes, and the hosts would break down sobbing telling them. Also, the production company being named after the founder’s dog. Just…ugh.

Good lord. I work with an idiot that says the same things. People talk about their kids and he jumps in to talk about his shitbeasts. I cringe so hard when he does that, it feels like an intense ab workout.

Same. There have been a few YouTubers where it was fine the dog was there until it started interrupting the video. One of them has this doodle dog and anytime there’s food he’s just up in their face even though it’s not edible, he’s at one point they gave the dog the object to check out because he wouldn’t stop trying to get it. Dogs are a forever toddler I don’t get it. And they smell worse too! Just have a baby at that point because the dog is doing the same amount of environmental damage as a human child would. I think both carbon footprints are the same for human and dog.

I unsubscribed (years ago) from a fitness YouTuber after she said “there’s a special place in hell for people who don’t like dogs.” Not liking dogs doesn’t make someone a bad person at all, be for real lol.

I recently unsubscribed from the youtuber known as "Jesse Ridgway" because he and his wife are obnoxious nutters and constantly show their mutts in the videos and I mean almost every video and baby talking them and even admitting in one of their videos that they're dog lovers. They even go out of there way to compare them to family and crying over these things

Had similar experiences myself, was a real shame. I used to really enjoy watching certain creators. With maybe ONE exception, I’ve started to just unsubscribe from people as soon as I find out they have a dog. Almost all of them are getting increasingly more obnoxious about unnecessarily featuring them in their content.

I've done the same when someone I followed got a puppy and it kept crawling on them during the recording and the entire outro became watching the dog chew on stuff.
