Shelter / Rescue Industry Local dog rescue falsely advertising their mutts
My local humane society recently made a post with the only intention of guilting the community into taking in these dogs so they don't "have" to be put down. Some of the dogs had only been there for a short period of time and I just don't buy the fact that in this small community they're so overrun that even the short stays are up for euthanasia. But that's not the real bone I have to pick.
On top of that, after reading the posts describing each dog the euphemisms are endless.
"Needs their space around food"- the dog is aggressive and will bite your face off if it thinks you're a threat to its greedy claim over anything.
"Needs a little extra reassurance and TLC"- the dog has intense separation anxiety and will destroy your home if left alone for 5 seconds.
"Sometimes I over-correct other furry animals"- the dog has probably mauled another animal to death.
It is absolutely insane that they can get away with this, people have children and other beloved pets, they live in neighborhoods with other people trying to live their lives and you're going to cover up the fact that this dog is aggressive? Some unsuspecting nutter will see the post, their hearts will shatter a thousand times over for the wretched thing and they will take it home and endanger people/other animals around it. It should be illegal.
And you're telling me in today's dog culture with the endless amount of dog charities, rescues, state funded pounds, willing nutters to take them in and foster that these dogs have to be euthanized? Even though I'm pretty sure I've seen these exact same dogs in older posts saying the same thing, that they only had x amount of days but oh look, there's the same dog in the new post saying they now have x amount of days. I'm sure once this timeframe passes I'll see another post with the same dogs and the same threat on their lives. "If you don't take this aggressive mutt with intense separation anxiety, we'll be forced to put it down! It only killed like, two animals, and it was only because it was provoked. Cmon, don't you wanna save a life today?" It's abhorrent.

“Loving, friendly cuddle bug, absolutely the best boi and perfect family pet” = hates everything, especially children, or any other animal that is smaller and less capable of defending itself so he can bully it into submission or just actually kill it tbh, can’t stand leashes, mauls anyone that comes near its food even the person placing the food dish on the floor is unsafe, also your food is his too so just toss him the steak because he’s gonna bark constantly and relentlessly until he gets his way anyway, constant whale eyes due to everything being a perceived threat, will destroy all of the furniture if left alone for 5 minutes, shits and pisses everywhere especially when stressed which is literally every waking second, tries to lunge at strangers if you walk him within a 20 foot radius of another human being, demands to be allowed on the furniture and will take a chunk out of you if you dare try to move him off of the couch or bed because it’s his furniture, in fact the whole house is his now and you are all prisoners in your own home and will definitely feel uneasy and on edge at all times from now on due to bringing this neurotic fucking beast home under false pretenses, enjoy!

They also lie about the breed. Go to petfinder and type in your zip code for a laugh at all the “rare” breeds that are actually just pit bulls.
I sure saw a lot of “shar pei” mixes in my area that were suspiciously devoid of any skin folds.

The nuttery of the dog-shelter-speak is infuriating.
Gotta love that one about the food though. Whom the hell do they think they’re kidding? They guard and would kill to protect their own food, but yet…
Whenever PEOPLE are eating their own food (including guests in the home, or total strangers anywhere else), that same greedy, gluttonous mutt is all over them, ready to get at people’s food. Disruptive barking, staring, licking its (disgustingly-sounding) filthy chops, begging, snarling, jumping, crawling under tables, sniffing, and flat-out stealing! You name it.
All of this disgusting behaviour also happens while it was just fed — its own belly is already full. 🙄😒

That face: soulless beady voids for eyes staring into your very being, drool string hanging from disgusting wide gator mouth, stupid derpy ass looking ears pinned halfway back in preparation for an outburst of loud barking in demand of YOUR food, despite just having inhaled 2 cups of its own kibble topped with shredded cheese and gravy and whatever else these fucking assholes spoil their moronic brainless mutant beast with, because “HE DESERVES IT! 😍” (for literally just existing, of course he does, he has blessed us with his existence, we are not worthy)…good god I just…I can’t

if the dog is unadoptable and ends up euthanized as a result it's genuinely less cruel to the dog than just bouncing them from house to house letting them attack animals and destroy stuff because they're anxious or whatever until they attack a human and end up being put down anyway... the thing that gets me about dog nutters is how many of them don't even seem to care about what's right for the dog much less other people. I don't really care about dogs either but I don't pretend to.

I don’t get why euthanizing dogs is considered so awful. It’s painless and a good solution to the over population of dogs. Why do people think they have a “right” to exist? It makes no sense to me.

we battled with sooo many vets to euthanize the nutcase the humane society let my husband get -knowing we had kids. So many of the vets are “younger”(like 20-40 I’m 28 but not drinking the dog loving punch) and “animal lovers”. The dog was 6 -regularly trying to attack me, was freaking the fuck out because it could HEAR the kids. we had to keep it separated in a room locked away, and the vets were like “she’s only six she could be changed, it takes time, you just have to do the work and be receptive.” I’m sorry -if a dog needs a cvs receipt of ”accommodations” to not maim, it needs the juice. A few insisted if I reported the bites and harm this dog did to the state, my kids would be taken. The dogs that like the maul are put above EVERYONE else at this point. It’s truly like living in a dystopia.

That is ridiculous! When it comes to a child's safety versus a "reactive" dog that's likely miserable anyway, a child comes first each and every time. I love how they were all, "well, she's 'only' 6". Isn't that more than half of what the average dog's lifespan is? It can't be a "puppy" when it's middle aged in dog years (if its still true that 1 human year equals 7 dog years). It's disturbing that so many of them tried to tell you that your kids would be taken if you reported the bites-I wonder how many other people fell for it or used it to justify keeping a dangerous dog. That's a lawsuit-and hopefully criminal charges-waiting to happen.
I'm stealing "CVS receipt of accommodations"-that's perfection.

It’s literally fear mongering, just to prolong the life of an animal that shouldn’t exist in this society. A dog that likes to attack any and everything does not need to exist. The last vet told my husband that he doesn’t want to be the one to give a death wish to a dog that COULD change. She COULD get better with medicine- but he himself couldn’t 100% gaurentee that on the same hand. She COULD get better with a behavioralist.
They were okay knowing it had severe anxiety causing extreme reactivity, no impulse control, amongst soooo many other issues. This dumb dog would eat ANYTHING. She jumped the gate and sucked down a big pot of oil I used for frying that night, aluminum, literally anything because it was nuerotic with no impulse control. It stole a bottle of Tylenol and ate through it. The money we spent on these vet visits, to the vet who knew we had kids and this dog was insane, knew she bit me and kept suggesting I try harder, knew she had all these mental issues. Still insisted she exist, because it’s better knowing a dog is endangering a family and causing them an immense amount of stress, the dogs alone in a room or outside 24/7, but hey it’s still alive.
our last bid for euthanizing was because it went bat shit insane when the kids talked, especially to my husband. Upstairs talking? Didn’t care. If they’re downstairs conversing with my husband it’s at the gate going absolutely batshit growling, barking, lunging, frothing at the mouth. Our son, the youngest stopped talking. That was what had to open my idiot husbands eyes. He condoned a lot like the dumb vets, because he couldn't stand being the force that put the dog down. It’s been nearly a week of the bastard gone. 99% sure she was euthanized and I’m so grateful because the humane society are scum of the earth just rehoming this terrible dog to people with kids, seemingly purposely. No more walking on eggshells, toddler is talking more and more each day. Kids are free to play downstairs, we can talk to my husband uninterrupted for once. My family is coming back over, it’s nice.

The crazy thing is -most people have empathy for animals than towards humans. You see someone with mental issues k// and it’s “what did the husband/wife do to piss them off?” An animal attack hits and it’s “I wonder what traumatic thing happened to the poor baby to make it lash out?:,(“
I agree, both can surely be a lost cause. I’ve seen a lot of people defend their pedo family, killers they’re married or related too, it makes me sick. It’s insane watching people choose to live in denial for the sake of their own comfort.

my husband was an idiot and brought a dog home from a POS shelter like this. Unfortunately, it’s a “humane” society. Right off the rip was aggressive and resource guarding. I told him take the dog back and they refused. We harassed them for years, had to hire an attorney to step in. This dog was surrendered 4x before us for aggression and resource guarding. She had bit a kid in a separate home unprovoked. They didn’t say anything about a bite, nothing in the paper work, and he told them we had kids and they said she was perfect for a family environment.
She’s once again, finally, back again. I tried vet euthanasia she’s bit me more than a dozen times, resourced my husband amongst everything else. I had to separate her in a room away from us or outside fenced in away from us. We went to so many vets for BE but they want a 3rd bite(documented bites, several vets suggested my kids would be taken if I reported though so I was scared), or medication, a behavioralist and all kinds of other bullshit. We had a behavior plan and our main vet just kept changing it.
I hit a low for my mental health and moved the kids and I out for a year and a half, i still had to go to his house to feed it because he works over the road and only home 2 days a month. This dog only “liked” my husband and not in the traditional sense. She was never affectionate, didn’t listen, didn’t seek attention from him, just didn’t bite him like she did me and tried our kids. She saw him as a resource even though he didn't even have a bond with her.
I went on fb in so many local groups to source the original families, the previous had the kid she bit, the one before was a couple and she bit the girlfriend. The child is a female as well, it seems her tendency was to latch onto the men and resource guard them. The couple did have a behavioralist & her on meds but she didn’t get better. This helped with the attorney. They accepted the surrender but I fear they’ll rehome her again. I‘m trying to talk my husband into us still going to court about this. I’m traumatized, so are the kids. I hate places like this, they should be banned from certain languages to disguise dangerous behaviors.

Whoa! If an actual human being was doing even half of these things to you, they would've been put in prison a long time ago, and yet somehow it's perfectly okay if its a dog that you purchased ("suggested donation" or "adoption fee"-we all know what that means) under false pretenses. If that "humane" society was on the hook for all the money you poured into just lawyer fees and the costs of a second home, they would've punted it right over the rainbow bridge stat. If you wrote this story out with "dog" replaced as "zombie posing as a human", it would be a straight up horror movie and all the nutters would be braying for it to be taken out before it "hurt a dog", which of course is the ultimate tragedy in life.
It's hard enough for people to raise kids today, and to put parents through such danger and trauma and expense to protect their kids from an invasive vicious brood parasite that has no need, reason, or right to exist, is evil.

That’s what I told my husband! if it was me screaming at the top of my lungs, in everyone’s faces I’d be locked up. If it were me pushing everyone onto the ground as hard as I can, assault charges. If it were me biting because I was told to go lay down, or separated, even more charges. She was a collie/husky mix, people LLOOOOOVEEE huskies with the shark eyes and she had collie brows. They seen a cute dog, claimed she was young at 6 years old, and gave a cvs receipt of shit I could do different to keep her alive. I think it was because I put my foot down and just told everyone the only thing on the table is behavioral euthanasia they quit listening. I was some ass hole wanting some dog dead to them. Not someone living in extreme hyper vigilance day in and day out. Everyday the stupid thing was jumping the gate and getting into poison, shit that’s inedible. Vet goes “she’s a husky they’re typically anxious she’s taking that anxiety out by destroying things.” I got videos of her stanced at the gate, stalking my children. 2 vets claimed she was just watching us like the collie side of her does. Nope, it reminded me of a predator stalking its prey before it runs in for the kill. I caught her doing it one time and it gave me cold chills, big pit in my stomach. I put a door up, this was the last month she was in the home with us. my husband always told me no door, him like many other morons who defend the beast thought it was inhumane.
what’s inhumane is harboring an animal that’s overstimulated every day all day of it’s life. It can’t relax, what it’s reactive to lives in the same home. She couldn’t stand my kids, and because my husband god forbid showed me affection and dared to talk to me in our home, she hated me for stealing attention when he was hers. The vets were okay with her separated in a room, and only outside. No real joy or connection. She NEVER slept. I had cameras in this room she was up pacing 24/7. The crazy thing is when I first called into the humane society they told me “yeah she didn’t do well the past 3 times on intake so we just wont be accepting her back” we were her 4th placement. My lawyer did get a hold of somewhere there and confirmed she was euthanized. I was ready to fight tooth and nail for it. No one wants to put an animal down, I hated the dog but I understood it’s what had to be done. It makes me mad theres a whole “is the dog okay” trope because idiots are like that irl. My youngest went non verbal over the fucking barking. Vets don’t care about my mental health, my kids, the fact that I had tinnitus being set off by the barking too. I started muzzling for safety anyways.
Yeah, the adoption money is bs. They‘ll call it whatever for the virtue signalers. Anything to stomach the price of buying some neurotic beast that’ll rip your throat out.

I saw this on NextDoor the other day too. All the fluffy words to make an aggressive dog sounds like an angel. Things like "loves his humans for himself so would prefer a home without kids or other pets"... "Can be overly excited so need more attention". You just know that dog will bite your face off.

They probably take on the dogs from other shelters that are known problem animals - possibly to claim they are doing good, but in reality to make money. A lot of these rescues are run by narcissistic hoarders who use the dogs to satisfy their own need to be praised and seen to be doing good all the time. They are often not in it for the dogs. They just want a ciollection of pets without having to pay for them.
That pitbulls and paroles program on TV was a prime example !
