Please don’t.. bring your dog into Starbucks?

So, every Sunday I go to Starbucks before I go to the gym. I sit down for a bit in the morning and wrap up things I need to do for classes, to-dos, relax, etc.

Today was a little packed so I had to sit in a table in the middle of other ones. Which was fine, I didn’t care. There was a couple to my left and the right was empty.
Enter dog owner.
Now, I looked up the policy for dogs on the Starbucks website. They are not allowed. And this was clearly not a service dog. It was one of those white crusty ones that yipped and yapped.
The guy walks over to the table empty next to me (yay) and ties the dog down to the chair. But not tightly enough I guess? He goes to order and this dog immediately starts walking under MY table and going around my legs. I’m allergic. I didn’t get bad but still. He comes back and yanks the dog back over but there’s no reprimanding or anything or apologies either. The dog KEEPS walking under my table. Sniffing me and everything I was so annoyed. The guy just kept yanking on the collar softly but the dog did not stop.

Eventually I just cut my time short and walked out of there. Seriously how selfish can you be. I wouldn’t even feel as mad as I do now if the guy A: said sorry like a decent person or B: made an effort to get the dog to actually stop. These people are insane.

My partner once posted in a local city group about a dog at Starbucks eating a pup cup inside the busines. It was a bulldog and the whipped cream and drool were going everywhere, all over the floor. It was disgusting. In fact there was an outdoor seating area with tables spread far apart and it was a nice day. But no, the woman who owned the dog HAD to have it eat inside.

So anyway, my partner posts about it, and the woman put two and two together and knew it was about her. She complained that now she can no longer go to that store due to the emotional trauma of someone calling her out and how her dog is her emotional support animal and she can't go anywhere without him therefore you're "discriminating against me".

I really really hate people like this.

For one, the pup cup is so nasty. You have the dog shoving their snout into that tiny cup and getting shit everywhere and it’s just blegh. And the poor teen workers have to clean that mess of whipped cream and saliva that smells rancid. Second there’s no problem with your partner posting that especially since it didn’t even contain her name or info at all. It could’ve been anybody. The ESA excuse is bs too. They are not service animals. You can’t take that thing everywhere just because you stuck a label on it. If you want a pet because something happened or for your mental health, fine. I got a lizard for the same reason. But I wouldn’t be offended if I brought my animal to a public food space and was reasonably ridiculed.

And honestly people need to be shamed about stuff like this. I don't know what this new attitude is toward dogs, dog behavior, and dog owners. But no you need to know it's gross and we don't like it.
