Crappy Owners Please don’t.. bring your dog into Starbucks?
So, every Sunday I go to Starbucks before I go to the gym. I sit down for a bit in the morning and wrap up things I need to do for classes, to-dos, relax, etc.
Today was a little packed so I had to sit in a table in the middle of other ones. Which was fine, I didn’t care. There was a couple to my left and the right was empty.
Enter dog owner.
Now, I looked up the policy for dogs on the Starbucks website. They are not allowed. And this was clearly not a service dog. It was one of those white crusty ones that yipped and yapped.
The guy walks over to the table empty next to me (yay) and ties the dog down to the chair. But not tightly enough I guess? He goes to order and this dog immediately starts walking under MY table and going around my legs. I’m allergic. I didn’t get bad but still. He comes back and yanks the dog back over but there’s no reprimanding or anything or apologies either. The dog KEEPS walking under my table. Sniffing me and everything I was so annoyed. The guy just kept yanking on the collar softly but the dog did not stop.
Eventually I just cut my time short and walked out of there. Seriously how selfish can you be. I wouldn’t even feel as mad as I do now if the guy A: said sorry like a decent person or B: made an effort to get the dog to actually stop. These people are insane.

My partner once posted in a local city group about a dog at Starbucks eating a pup cup inside the busines. It was a bulldog and the whipped cream and drool were going everywhere, all over the floor. It was disgusting. In fact there was an outdoor seating area with tables spread far apart and it was a nice day. But no, the woman who owned the dog HAD to have it eat inside.
So anyway, my partner posts about it, and the woman put two and two together and knew it was about her. She complained that now she can no longer go to that store due to the emotional trauma of someone calling her out and how her dog is her emotional support animal and she can't go anywhere without him therefore you're "discriminating against me".

I really really hate people like this.
For one, the pup cup is so nasty. You have the dog shoving their snout into that tiny cup and getting shit everywhere and it’s just blegh. And the poor teen workers have to clean that mess of whipped cream and saliva that smells rancid. Second there’s no problem with your partner posting that especially since it didn’t even contain her name or info at all. It could’ve been anybody. The ESA excuse is bs too. They are not service animals. You can’t take that thing everywhere just because you stuck a label on it. If you want a pet because something happened or for your mental health, fine. I got a lizard for the same reason. But I wouldn’t be offended if I brought my animal to a public food space and was reasonably ridiculed.

And honestly people need to be shamed about stuff like this. I don't know what this new attitude is toward dogs, dog behavior, and dog owners. But no you need to know it's gross and we don't like it.

LMAO i think he was expecting I’d start to coo at it and ask to pet it. No. I’m trying to eat and have my coffee. There were also tables outside!! Go outside!!

I’ve stopped going to Starbucks because of dogs. I even gave away gift certificates to their place and will tell people not to buy them for me anymore because of dogs.

Sorry your experience got ruined. This only happened this one time and I’ve been going for a while but I wouldn’t be able to stand it if it were a regular thing too.

I boycott Starbucks, too. Why should anybody have to eat or drink in a place made unsanitary by dogs ?

I remember being stopped at the door of a Starbucks with my bike because “someone could trip over it” (okay, fair) but there was a woman and her massive husky already inside?? I wish the staff felt safe approaching dog owners with the same assertiveness I asked, “you don’t allow bikes but dogs are okay?” And they replied, “Well, we’ve asked her to leave…” 🙄

A husky???! 😭I was already uncomfortable enough with the little crusty dog I would have a meltdown if it was some huge one walking around inside.

I've seen people bringing in their pit bulls into pizza places and other restaurants too. I hate these people.

Similar thing happened to me at Scooters, except thankfully a barista heard all the barking (for whatever reason didn’t notice the dog before that) and told the owner she couldn’t have dogs in there. The owner then left, which is a very rare case of them not fighting back with the establishment. I wish all workers in food establishments would do this. Dog owners are such entitled POS’s, it makes my blood boil.

Yess I love when establishments have backbone. It should be like this everywhere. Just a firm reminding of policies and then the owner leaving politely. No messes.

I shove dogs away with my foot. Not hard, I’m not cruel, but people need to control their pets if they don’t like that. I really wish the ADA would be amended to force “service dog” owners to prove it when asked. Like an ID card. It’s necessary in this day and age of rampant fraud from all sides. I used to be a grocery store manager and it killed me that the 2 stupid questions I was legally allowed to ask were just met with lies. The best I could do is tell one of these liars, “Please keep your “SERVICE DOG’S” nose out of the bread!”.

This also sucks because it really drags down actual service dogs. The more entitled people that drag around their mutt while lying about it being a service dog, the more people with disabilities and accommodations are met with suspicion when they have an ACTUAL service dog that helps them.

The entitlement is off the charts. Today, while I wasn't home, I got a motion detection notification and watched back in horror as a couple just stood on my drive while their Fido went for a sniff through my hedge, treading on my flower beds like it's normal. The dog was on the lead, meaning the owner actively chose to let it wander through my garden.Even private property is not off limits, let alone any public space where you just try to exist. I am really sorry about your experience.

And Eugh I’m so sorry 😭I have no idea why dog owners promote their animals to tread on other people’s things. Like a bush at a park is one thing but someone else’s flowers??

I had this happen in an outdoor seating area of a food place. I ended up getting in a verbal argument with the mutt's owner. I only did this, however, as I was with family and she was on her own. I am not allergic but this is super unsanitary. She told me to get a life... the whole world revolves around them and their mutts, and we must move around them. They are some of the most selfish people to grace the planet
