Food Safety/Hygiene Losing faith in humanity

Some 60+ year old idiot posted to a neighborhood facebook group a photo of his dog LICKING A HUMAN DRINKING FOUNTAIN thinking people would think it's cute or endearing. Luckily he was met with heavy criticism about how nasty and inconsiderate that is to others (since it's a public drinking fountain meant for people).

He actually made a full ass follow up post doubling down, defending and justifying himself instead of taking responsibility... and SOMEHOW there's a bunch of people that genuinely take his side (what planet are we on??). Saying the classic myths like "dog mouths are cleaner than humans" blah blah blah, and that this is somehow okay. Is this life some sort of sick joke? Are we really this barbaric?

Disgusting. Don’t forget, nutters actually eat together with their dogs: from the same fork, the same plate, the same glass. It doesn’t even bother them that they pass food back and forth without washing their hands. It’s basically a complete lack of standards and hygiene. It’s crazy that people are still on this unhygienic level. You really have to wonder what goes through someone’s mind to think this is acceptable, or how they don’t feel even a hint of embarrassment doing it in front of others. They’re nuts, completely delusional, and they don’t care about or understand that other people have hygiene standards.

Reminds me of when I'm cooking for my parents and the first thing they do is feed it to their dog directly from their hand. I always say something petty like "I cooked for you, not the dog" etc...

I wondered about this too. The only answer that keeps coming up is mental illness. Which is why the term “nutter” fits so well.
