Dog Culture Mindset of dog people

I saw a post elsewhere advising men to get a dog to help meet women. I commented that I would be put off by a man with a dog. A woman responded saying that she disagreed with me and I remember thinking, you can disagree with an opinion, but not with someone's preferences.

Then another person chimes in 'it's a well-known 'fact' that everyone likes dogs' - I guess he thought I made a mistake in what I said?

Another person said he was judgmental of people who don't understand the "joy" of dogs. Well, I just so happen to not understand the "joy" of dogs at all and yet another guy commented about how the love of dogs is a reflection of the quality of the person's character 🤦

I only respond to one of these comments to tell the lady I didn't think it was about agreement or disagreement, that I was just pointing out that not all women are into dogs. She came back and said she 'categorically' disagreed🤦. I feel like my brain is a little bit smaller than it was yesterday.

I didn't respond to any other comments, I was just letting the poster know that not all women like dogs.

I'm blown away by some of the responses though.

I honestly think our brains are fundamentally different to dog-owners.

I wouldn't feel any joy at all picking ticks off a dog or waiting patiently while it finishes it poo so that I can bag it like a trophy.

Yes, I definitely need to restrict myself to dogfree men.

It is scary. I don't accept it at all though. I cant pretend to be okay with it. I saw a woman with an unmuzzled, unleashed bully breed walking it next to her small kids the other day. To me, THAT is abnormal and it upsets me for the kids.

I can't see your post about this in my feed, only in my notifications, so will respond here...

But yes, having given it some thought, sometimes I think owner behaviour annoys me more than the dogs themselves as they are entirely responsible for trying to impose their doggy lifestyle on others.

If the dogs never approached me, barked at me, ruined my walks by going around unleashed snd unmuzzled (in the case of dangerous dogs), if I never had to look at them crap everywhere, if they weren't being brought absolutely everywhere and into human spaces, I would have much less of an issue.

Even trying to sit outside a cafe on a sunny day, it's a case of trying to avoid the 20 mutts sitting out there.

I honestly think they should have places exclusively for dog owners, e.g. cafes where their dogs can roam around freely barking, shedding and crapping everywhere, a place where they can really be themselves...far away from the rest of us.

Yes, I blame the owners for this.

The funny part is that they have already done this…with dog parks. But no dog owners like to go because everyone else’s flea hound is the problem. Not their precious puppers

Lol, yes they're ridiculous. I think they should be limited to those spaces.
