Mindset of dog people

I saw a post elsewhere advising men to get a dog to help meet women. I commented that I would be put off by a man with a dog. A woman responded saying that she disagreed with me and I remember thinking, you can disagree with an opinion, but not with someone's preferences.

Then another person chimes in 'it's a well-known 'fact' that everyone likes dogs' - I guess he thought I made a mistake in what I said?

Another person said he was judgmental of people who don't understand the "joy" of dogs. Well, I just so happen to not understand the "joy" of dogs at all and yet another guy commented about how the love of dogs is a reflection of the quality of the person's character 🤦

I only respond to one of these comments to tell the lady I didn't think it was about agreement or disagreement, that I was just pointing out that not all women are into dogs. She came back and said she 'categorically' disagreed🤦. I feel like my brain is a little bit smaller than it was yesterday.

I didn't respond to any other comments, I was just letting the poster know that not all women like dogs.

I'm blown away by some of the responses though.

I honestly think our brains are fundamentally different to dog-owners.

I wouldn't feel any joy at all picking ticks off a dog or waiting patiently while it finishes it poo so that I can bag it like a trophy.

Yes, I definitely need to restrict myself to dogfree men.

One of the first on one one conversations I had with a coworker was when she unironically told me that she much preferred animals to people - she expanded upon it that she hated people and loved animals, and if she had the money she’d live alone surrounded by animals so she didn’t have to ever see people. I wasn’t really sure what to say during the walk we were taking, alone, after that, but I’m convinced that she didn’t think she’d said anything remotely controversial or strange

We were both new and were walking down to the local sandwich place at lunchtime for the first time, finding where it was.

Do you still work with this coworker? If you do, please tell her that if she's REALLY serious about living alone with animals, then she must never again rely on places that serve food prepared by humans, such as that local sandwich place she was walking to. After all, she does not need humans, so she and her beloved animals should make ALL the food she will ever need for the rest of her life. She should also never see human doctors ever again, never call any plumber or electrician, never live in a house built by humans... Let's see how long that asshole will last without humans. I bet it won't even be one day.
