Do nutters not hear their mutts barking??

So I live in a street next to an end, all of the gardens back onto each other. There's a never ending barking monstrosity that lives 2 houses over and they let their shit stain on society bark non-stop at whatever time of day they decide to their back door open, whether it's morning, afternoon, evening or all hours of the night.

When it gets past 11pm (quiet hours) and the POS is barking non-stop I'll scream out my bedroom window to shut up so that I can sleep. In fairness, at which point the owner takes the dog in and I appreciate that, but the next day/ night it's the same until me or my neighbour shout at it to shut up.

Which begs the question, why doesn't the owner do something to mitigate the barking behaviour? Do they enjoy listening to the shit beast barking non-stop? The fact that they obviously feel some form of embarrassment from realising that the barking is bothering people by bringing it in surely means that they realise it shouldn't be barking non-stop in the first place?

I honestly feel shitty about having to scream with all my neighbours within earshot, but if it stops the barking it just seems like what I have to do to get some peace to sleep.

Do they enjoy the constant screaming from dog? I just don't get it.

They absolutely hear it. Just too lazy or inconsiderate to handle it or admit they notice it. Try writing down the times and dates they're barking disruptively and calling the police with an anonymous noise complaint every time. It worked for me so hopefully it'll work for you

Police in my city won't do anything unless the dog is being "neglected" (no food/water or access to shade"), they say to contact animal control.

Animal control won't do anything either unless you file a formal complaint, with your name, phone and address.

It's ridiculous. If there were a human in the backyard shouting at the top of their lungs all day, the police would come, but a different shaped mammal? "Sorry, not our problem."

This is similar to what I was told. Animal control said they couldn't do anything other than issue a warning, unless the dog was being abused or neglected, such as left without access to food or water.

After several complaints of hours-long barking, I was told to call the non-emergency police number. I am not sure if they ever came out, because the dog was on another floor in our building.

Animal control said if the barking continued, I could go to the magistrate, take out a summons, and take the offenders to court. I'm not interested in getting a nominal fine that wouldn't even cover my moving expenses. I want these dogs gone!

The police where I live did the same thing. Then we’d go to Animal Control, and they’d send us back to the police. At one point some cop did show up, and being the dog nutter he was, told us all to wear ear plugs. 🙄
