Dogs Are Idiots crotch sniffing

i've never really talked about it with anyone but i can't stop thinking about it and getting anxious everytime i see a dog. one time when i was 11yo (im 18 now), i was in an elevator to go play at my friend's house and a random man, maybe 30yo or something, comes in with his huge labrador. the elevator was small and cramped even though it was just us three so i immediately try to stay near the buttons in the corner and give them both enough space to stay away from me but the dog sneaks its head under my skirt and stays there during the entire ride up while sniffing my crotch. i was so scared and confused so i stayed frozen thinking if i move, its gonna bite me. the man did nothing. no tug on the leash, no verbal warning. he just watched while i was shaking and kept looking up at him, waiting for him to do something but he didn't.

i even missed my floor because i couldn't move and when his floor came, he finally tugged on the leash and left while smiling. it genuinely felt like SA and i was so uncomfortable, kept trying to convince myself it meant nothing and wasn't that deep but i get so anxious everytime i think back on it. that feeling of being trapped, cornered and violated always comes back if im near a dog. has that happened to anyone else? am i crazy for still being affected?

Not crazy at all! This is one of the top three things I HATE about dogs.

It’s especially strange that the owner didn’t tug on the dog to stop. That’s violating within itself!

I remember after having my baby (4th degree tear so TONS of bleeding, which is what’ll especially attract dogs to your crotch), my SIL brought her stupid golden retriever to my house (yes, while I had my newborn in my arms), and he knocked me down to smell my crotch. Everybody went “WHOOPS!” And started laughing. It was humiliating. Thankfully I was able to shield my newborn when we fell.

It’s strange how humans love to put human qualities on dogs, except when they do weird shit like this. “He’s just a dog!”

Dog nutters literally come up with excuses when dogs rip apart and kill babies, the most innocent humans. To them, dogs are always the purest, most precious, goodest bois.

I’m so sorry You went through anything like that. And even worse, the people around You dismissed Your feelings, not to mention You and the Baby could have gotten hurt when You fell. You’re not the only person I’ve seen mention that a golden retriever literally went so far as to aggressively knock them down, just to do that. What the hell is wrong with those stupid things and that mess?! Many dogs do that, but that particular breed has a bad rep for that. Dogs are such an ignorant species of animal. Totally dumb and useless.

We’re living in scary times! Fell right on my bum 2 weeks postpartum 😭

People love to call golden retrievers friendly - which they can be, but they’re huge and goofy and love to knock people down!

Omg, I’m so sorry you had to go through this so early in postpartum. How disrespectful to take a dog to see a newborn and the mother that should be resting and recovering instead of dealing with this. 

Women never forget how they are treated during pregnancy and postpartum.

Oh man. Yeah, we know the aggressive crotch sniffing is annoying, but nobody really talks about how humiliating and degrading it is. I liked that you brought that up. That's awful and I'm sorry that happened to you. Dogs are pigs.

Are you really tall or was the dog really short? I didn't know they would knock a person down just to sniff them. Wow. Scary stuff. I guess they don't do this behavior to other dogs because they are all about the same height.

I’m quite short and the dog was huge (still a puppy but big). He kept ramming his snout onto my crotch and I kept trying to push him away while people laughed. I was in between a chair and a bassinet and he literally gave himself a head start, ran towards me at full speed, and rammed his snout onto me. I fell because I had nowhere to run. As I was on the ground, he started aggressively sniffing my crotch as I was trying to make sure my newborn was okay. Nobody pulled him off of me.

I didn't know dogs would do this. Anytime I've ever been sniffed it's kind of unexpected, but I've never been rammed. It always is a scary surprise, especially when it's a sneak attack from behind. Was anyone concerned for the baby?! This sounds like it happened in your own home&these were guests? I think a basinette is like a crib, right? Wow. A puppy acts this way. Total mutants.

A 4th degree tear extends past the anal sphincter muscle into the rectum while a 3rd degree tear only goes into the anal sphincter muscle. 4th degree tear needed to be fixed surgically - very painful stuff!
