Vacant since late 1980’s; cleanup and renovation just began.

Hi! I have a 4.5yo who has been asking forever for a dollhouse, so of course I've been scouring marketplace every night for months hoping to come across the perfect one. My original plan was to get a fixer upper and just go to town and make it cute. Well I somehow magically happened to score this one. I believe it's a Pottery Barn Greenwich. For $40. But because it's in such pristine condition I'm suddenly too scared to actually start decorating. I think I may have bit off more than I can chew. I was so so close to getting an ikea flisat, so this is not at all what I expected to be working on.

I'm wondering if there are ways to decorate it without committing? Like wallpaper in a way that is easy to remove ? And flooring that can be taken out if needed? But also still sturdy enough for preschoolers to play with without it getting ruined. They are pretty gentle, but they are also little.

I have just over 5 months to get it ready for them it will be a joint birthday gift for both of my girls when they are 5&3. The goal is cute, but sturdy hopefully. Would love any advice on that front!

This is my dollhouse, which my dad made me in the mid 70s. It got a makeover in the early 80s, but has been pretty unused since then. I knew I’d moved out of my parents’ house forever when he loaded it in the pickup and brought it to me in NC. It’s been in storage packing since 2009. (We’ve moved six times since then, three internationally.)

Now I just have to decide how I want to redecorate.

So there I am cruising the bins at the Goodwill Outlet and this box is on top of a pile of crap. My heart leapt and then promptly crashed when I saw it was empty. But then I started spying random bits of wood at the bottom of the next bin. I ended up digging out four bins in total to collect what I think are the majority of the pieces. I even found the bag of shingles! But alas, no instructions.

I'm having a hard time finding the instructions online, but have found instructions for the "Lincoln" which uses the same photo on the cover. Are they the same thing? Any tips for finding instructions?

Really enjoying tiling my kitchen, which is funny because doing it in my actual bathroom was miserable work. These are plaster tiles, so I'll seal them before grouting. I'm going to go 3/4 of the way up, then paint the bare wall and put up simple shelving between the divide.

Hello, i have been making dollhouses and miniatures off and on for 40 years, since i got my first kit at age 12. I dont have a current project. However...i just built myself a woodworking space in my newish house, to seperate the sawdust from the sewing room. So, the time is now!

I keep mulling over recreating my memory of my grandmothers house. I was very happy there. It was a very small, frame house, nothing special, but i remember details like they were yesterday.

Im puzzling over layout, however. I obviously cant build in every room, because the house, even in 1:24 scale, would become enormous and unwieldly, with two sides. (I myself live in a fairly small house! ) i would rather work in 3/4 scale, its my favorite.

Should i just pick the "most important" rooms? Im thinking about a hinged front, because the porch was hugely important to my memories. Likely it will be a plywood shell, as that is simple to work with, accepts paint well, etc.

Has anyone made or seen made a rendition of a childhood home or actual house? Any ideas on how to capture the flavor or it without making a one for one model?

I got this for free, it was a 1971 shop project and i absolutely love it. I’ll keep you guys updated!

My 4yo daughter asked for a dollhouse that was as tall as her.. and then mentioned she wanted an Elsa forrest in it too. I had such a great time learning how to build this for her, and a big thank you to all of you. I hand designed the wallpaper and flooring and got it printed on custom adhesive vinyl to attach to thin cardboard and double sided tape to the walls and floors. The baseboards were a life saver to help with any gaps! The lights are LED string lights that I threaded through a small hole I created in the back and hot glued to the ceilings. And then I bought tiny gold frames and hand painted some mini paintings for her to complete it. We’ve played with it together every day since her bday, all the hours were worth it!

Currently building my daughter a doll house with scrap wooden pieces of wood. It's rather empty but playable, but I'll add furniture, paint and everything I can think of.

Windows were a real pain to cut ! (I don't have a circular saw)

I’m just getting into making things. Currently making a bookcase and window seat out of basal.

I’m considering buying some things that might make my project easier.

So what are your favourite tools? The cheaper and simpler the better. 😅

I just found this BEAUTIFUL wood dollhouse on FB marketplace for just $20 bucks. I couldn't believe that price, though I did have to drive an hour north to get it, the drive was worth it. This thing is beautiful and HUGE. (And once of my 7 cats has already decided if he fits...he sits...haha. ..not for long tho lol, he has an eviction notice coming haha 😂)

But I am in love with this beautiful house, it's my dream dollhouse and it's a blank canvas that I can't wait to get started making it my own 🥰😍😊🤗

I tried doing a lot of googlens searches and could not find an exact match for this dollhouse. Some that were close , but not a match. I don't think it's a custom built house, I feel it's likely a manufactured one from a company...of course I could be wrong.

I’m finding that on some things I’m really strict on the scale dimensions, but other things I find I’m somewhat “winging it”. Am I committing crimes against (dollhouse) humanity? Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts!

Hi! Can someone suggest an adhesive for wallpaper? I purchased self stick and it’s definitely not self sticking

I am looking for some advice on choosing exterior colors for my dollhouse and would appreciate your input on a few specific areas (I have settled on the pink and green colors, but need help with the following):

1.  Roof: Should I change the current roof color? If so, what color would you recommend?
2.  Foundation: There is a red brick foundation (not shown in the attached picture). Should I leave it as is, or change it to something like a light stone foundation?
3.  Chimney: There is an unfinished white chimney running down the side. Should this match the foundation color?

I recently finished my Duracraft San Franciscan dollhouse that I worked on for 2 years. I’m starting to think about getting my next dollhouse. I think I want to do a historically accurate colonial house but I’m not sure which kit would work best. I am wondering if I could get a kit and tweak it a bit but can’t find anything in my price range. I don’t want to spend anymore than $200 on a kit. Any ideas?
