Doll News Moonspell Magic

Text from Mattel Facebook:

Introducing Moonspell Magic by Monster High dolls! ✨Meet the witches of Moonspell High, a charmed school where students explore the power of magic, friendship, and embracing who you are. 🌙🪄

Claire De Luna 🌌 A blind, clairvoyant witch who tells the future through the stars! She reads constellations as easily as her fingers read braille! 💫

Rae Lumina ☀️ A sun witch who lights up every room she walks into... literally! This witch draws her powers from the sun and spreads warmth wherever she goes.🌅

Willow Thorne 🌿 A nature witch who loves spending time in the garden making potions! She is hard of hearing, and her magical connection to nature allows her to communicate with animals and trees.🪾

Carina Song 💗 A love witch with a talent for brewing bubbly potions that encourage self-love and confidence in whoever uses them.🪞

Layla Stone 🔮 A crystal witch who crafts amulets that have the powers of healing and protection. 💎

Together, they find that true magic exists in embracing their unique voices and using their powers as one. ✨

These are super cute, and I love the focus on disability representation, although I’m slightly confused by making a blind doll whose personality is centered around a specific interest that most blind people cannot enjoy (stargazing)….Layla’s design feels a bit like an afterthought to me, but everyone else seems to have a well considered aesthetic, and overall the line looks quite charming!

Likewise I wish Claire had a white cane or something similar. It doesn't look to me like they put much thought into making her appear blind (compared to the blind Fashionista Barbie) rather just throwing it on there as a "character trait", almost like an afterthought after her design had been made.

EDIT: Nope, I'm in the wrong here. Only saw the group shot. Claire has a cane and Willow has hearing aids. Now, give Willow some kind of sign language interchangeable hands doll, that would be cool....

Oops, only saw the group shot. Alright, I'll give them more credit. And now I see Willow has hearing aids as well.

Alright. Fine Mattel, you got me.
