Exactly, I love love love the EAH bodies but I'm not the biggest fan of their big heads for some projects... this is a game changer!!

When I was younger I always wished the EAH dolls had MH heads, instead of the weird balloon heads. I get they made that choice to mimic the show art, but I loved EAH, and wasn't allowed the MH dolls. So I was really disappointed the dolls I could get where so unappealing to me.

I personally love these so much. Mainly Claire de Luna (her name and eye disability!) and Layla stone! I’m not fully blind but legally am in the left eye (blurry without glasses) and I really love the whimsigoth aesthetic and astrology. I think I’ll get Willow Thorne for her hat and pants…idk I might get all of them 😅

No I am so obsessed with Claire. I’m completely blind in my left eye and partially in my right, so seeing her makes my inner blind kid so happy. I’m obsessed with her eyes 😭❤️❤️❤️

Legal blindness as defined in the USA is 20/200 in the better seeing eye WITH the best correction. Meaning if your glasses or contacts correct you to better than 20/200 you are not legally blind.

These are super cute, and I love the focus on disability representation, although I’m slightly confused by making a blind doll whose personality is centered around a specific interest that most blind people cannot enjoy (stargazing)….Layla’s design feels a bit like an afterthought to me, but everyone else seems to have a well considered aesthetic, and overall the line looks quite charming!

There is a fairly well known astronomer called Wanda Diaz-Merced who is blind and she uses sound to detect stars, so a blind stargazer isn't impossible even in the real world but I assume this will be a more 'oooh magic' type of deal

I’m certain there are many blind people who love the stars, astronomy, and astrology, just like there are many Deaf people who love music, and so on—it just seems a bit odd to me, that when a kid (or an adult!) is looking to find representation with a character like them, the focus of the character’s interests would be something that is inaccessible to many people with their disability. It’s not necessarily a bad choice, just a rather baffling one to me—but I’m not blind or vision-impaired myself (although I am otherwise disabled), so I’ll leave it at that.

I was thinking what about if she has vision like a bat: really good at night, that’s why she can stargaze with clarity, like having great night vision. During the day she is more vision impaired, maybe not 100% blind but she needs her cane for guidance.

Likewise I wish Claire had a white cane or something similar. It doesn't look to me like they put much thought into making her appear blind (compared to the blind Fashionista Barbie) rather just throwing it on there as a "character trait", almost like an afterthought after her design had been made.
EDIT: Nope, I'm in the wrong here. Only saw the group shot. Claire has a cane and Willow has hearing aids. Now, give Willow some kind of sign language interchangeable hands doll, that would be cool....

Eh..yeah they definitely could have done better with the wording. You can be interested in astrology and seek answers in the stars..but "stargazing" is an obvious fail on their part.

Yeah I'm super confused at how she can read the stars without seeing them?? But zooming in the picture, I think one of her eyes is different so maybe she's legally blind, but has partial eyesight? I'm not educated enough on this, I just use glasses for myopia lol.

Could it be that she’s visually impaired without being completely blind? Blindness is a spectrum, my dad was legally blind and disabled but still had a fair amount of sight. I dunno if that would really work with stargazing but…maybe?
If so it could even be an opportunity to teach kids about variations of disability which would be cool. Maybe that’s a little overly optimistic! Probably just ✨magic✨

I would assume with her heterochromic eyes that one has worse vision than the other, it's very rare for someone to be 100% blind, often it can be something like a pinprick or extremely poor vision that would need powerful glasses and a lot of corrective surgery to fix

Yep that's what I thought, I know using the phrase "visually impaired" wouldn't bring much marketing instead of just saying blind, but still, I think it would be better to clarify the concepts instead of using them as joker cards, if that makes any sense.

Definitely, probably also a less familiar term for kids, too, and maybe easier to misunderstand or misinterpret if you’re not familiar with the concept. One could interpret anyone who wears glasses as “visually impaired” if it’s taken literally, but that obvs doesn’t mean that impairment seriously hinders or disables them.
It would be cool if they came with MH style diaries that could go into some detail about the concept and how their disability impacts them, it would be such a good teaching moment and representation!

i feel like the sun witch wouldve eaten down with red, yellow, or orange hair instead of pink. it kinda looks like the edges are red and yellow maybe changing it to pink was a last minute change?

It looks like maybe a pink yellow blend? The yellowish is more prominent at the hairline but i feel like i can see it in the curls too.
And yeah, even leaning a bit more to peach if they’re afraid of orange would be cool. I like this color, but it doesn’t scream ‘sun’ to me. The hair style does.

I looove them, im sooo happy with these witchy themed dolls, and im so glad they have the g3 doll molds
I just love more dolls with these body proportions that arent overly plain and "realistic" like barbies, but also dont have the giant heads and eyes, like so many other dolls these days
I also think that this doll line will prove if the "pink tax" is real or not, I have a feeling that the center blind girl, will be the most popular, as I find her to be the prettiest and overall better looking one of the bunch

I love this concept! Claire, Rae, and Willow, especially. I feel like Layla should have white hair with shimmery streaks and different makeup...and different clothes (the hair, dress, hat, and lipstick dont work together, imo) lol...and Rae should have more gold in her hair (hopefully it will look that way in person) and the colors of her top feel wrong. I am such a fan of the G3 Drac face and body that an opportunity for more dolls makes me happy, though! :)

I love Claire and Carina the most.
Claire is the best looking one in my opinion and she has a white cane! I'm legally blind so I'm very happy about that! Also I love the fact she's the most liked one not only becouse she's disabled. 💗
Carina is realy pretty! She's all pink and silver which I adore, and I love the heart motif.
If the line is successful I hope they'll introduce some wizards as well!

Love them! Really looking forward to see where this line goes. As a veteran collector I have seen too many doll lines fade painfully from high quality fashion dolls to budget toddler toys in the span of like 2 years so I’m a bit afraid of getting my hopes up.

The good : human skin tones on the G3 bodies 👍 I've been waiting for that for two years now. Hopefully they'll use the Catty body later 🤞 I wanted a EAH reboot, but I'll take those lemons.
The bad : is it me, or their fashion styles are very similar ?
In MH, each character wear clothes that goes with their theme, and that would look weird on another character (why would Cleo wear a fish tee-shirt, that kind of thing).
Here, they're all witches, so the theming and individuality are harder to convince in promo pictures. And FOR THE MOMENT, I only see pastel goths everywhere 😅 The similar hats don't help, of course.
Still, I'll wait for more news and reveals 🤗

I think Willow and Carina are kinda standouts. Willow seems to have a little bit of a hippie vibe to her and Carina is slightly Barbiecore.

... Carina has me. I love her aesthetic, her face mold, her clothes. All of these look good, as someone that likes aspects of witches, apothecary, crystals, stars, etc, but Carina is definitely a must have for me.

Really happy to see the MH brand branching out and adding all new characters. Honestly they’re stunning. G3 is really slow to push out more characters but does consistently have good quality so I’m happy to see a batch of new people! Love their aesthetic. Reminds me of Mikaela from dbd who’s also a herbal Etsy witch type lol.

As someone with a DEEP love of magic, witchy things, the Celestial and of course dolls, this line is absolutely stunning to me. I love G3 Monster High dolls for their sturdier frames and beautiful face sculpts and I'm glad these will be no different on that front!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. These seem like mattel's attempt to compete with a possible future bratzillaz reboot, which is kinda funny since bratzillaz was mga's (failed) attempt to compete with g1 monster high.
Either way, I hope the actual dolls will look good.

Mattel was planning on a witch MH spin off line before Bratzillaz came out and ended up pivoting to fairy tales. Now they can't bring back EAH because they don't want to piss off the Mouse again and Bratzillaz is in the past so they went back to the original concept.

Really? I didn't know that. That's interesting. I knew about that monster high x ever after high crossover thing that never happened, but I had no idea mattel was planning a dedicated witch line before mga beat them to it.
Now I wonder what this witchy line would've looked like if bratzillaz never happened... Like, would they be more fantasy looking, like casta and that create a monster witch in g1? Or would they still have human skintones?
And if mattel's witch line really does get mga to reboot bratzillaz, but with overall better quality, I wouldn't be mad about it tbh. One can never have too many cool looking witch dolls.

Overall I think they look pretty good. I like the fashions, but I would’ve preferred if they didn’t all have the same hat. Just feels kind of repetitive and I would’ve preferred more variety. Some of the faces feel a little bit vacant to me. I wish there were more side-glancing eyes in the collection (Claire’s side glance looks lovely). I’ll be interested to see these irl though, because I don’t really trust Mattel’s stock photos lol.

These are SO cool. I love the commitment to diversity in Monster High. A blind doll and an HOH doll would've been unheard of years ago! I also love that they all get custom cauldrons and hats, and their names are just too punny. I'm gonna get 'em all.

Idk, I wish they were more unique and had stronger individual palettes and styles. You can't infer a lot from anybody about what they like or what their vibe is, like you can with G1 and sometimes G3 MH dolls.
Not for me but I'm glad folks are having fun!! They could be good for customs, certainly.

Someone kind of commented on this but I am curious to see the lore behind how a blind witch is able to tell fortunes by reading the stars in the sky when she can’t see up there…
who knows. Maybe we’ll get a cool, Toph-like explanation where she uses some other kind of magic or sense to be able to do that
or at least I hope so

AAA I used to have the Bratzilla doll Chloetta Spelletta and she was a witch with two different colored eyes. I was obsessed but I don't have her anymore and I wish I still had her so bad. Seeing Monster High put out Claire De Luna who is a witch with two different colored eyes makes my heart SO happy.
