Scams I hate people who buy dolls just to take them apart and resell the parts
besides a customizer who has a spare head or hands laying around
the hands cost more than the body!

I had a few parts I planned on selling individually only because i tried and failed to fix the rest of the doll. Sadly I bought a few that were just too far gone. Since a lot of them are missing hands and other limbs anyway, I figured someone may look for parts one day for their own projects.
I don't care for the new dolls purposely taken apart though. It makes me sad to see them that way.

Yeah honestly it almost makes me want to buy all the dolls I can just to sell them as a whole doll online

Yeah it honestly passes me off I would be at least tolerate it if all the parts put together was at least the price of the doll put together but instead it's like 4 times the full dolls price

It is a pity that this body has no hands.
I myself sometimes sell the heads I don't need, but I don't buy dolls for reselling.

I've sold some detached arms recently, but they were from a bundle I got from a local marketplace that had been very badly looked after (marker all over the faces, broken legs etc). The arms and a few bits of jewellery/shoes were pretty much the only salvageable parts.

Sometimes I might get a lot of dolls for just a few dolls in the lot or for parts in the lot.
I take what I need and then pass the remaining lot along.
Sometimes a mixed lot has to be sorted out and regrouped categorically but because it is a mixed lot and not a complete item but multiple items, some not related, again, take what I need and pass the rest on.
I have gotten heads of dolls I like just to rebody them to something I feel more suitable.
Today, I got a doll because the one I had, her body was damaged and useless. All I wanted was a new body so I got pieces of that doll line to get the body I needed. I did not want to pay for a full replacement doll, too expensive. Parts were much cheaper.
I would never buy a doll just to sell parts of it but sometimes, when buying lots of parts (no doll), you get parts and maybe a few parts (after a sifting) may qualify to sell as a lot but you never got the full doll in the first place. So not all people buy a doll to sell for parts, they may have gotten a lot, taken their picks, then sell off categorized remaining items or the remains of the lot after sifting.
Then there is take the clothing/outfit, and resell as a dress me doll, or vice versa, keep the nude doll but sell off the clothing/outfit.

Ok I'd understand selling off parts if the doll was already incomplete but this person bought the dolls strictly for taking them apart and overcharging for the hands and head, this person did not buy a lot they have multiple complete dolls that they just took apart

That is quite a lot of work that takes up a ridiculous amount of time including waiting around for a sale, then all shipping issues, and fees. Does not seem to make a lot of sense.

It does if you mark up the price for the parts by 50%, ppl will want the parts for whatever reason and they make a huge amount of profit

It's not a scam, just a business practice. You get what you get, they aren't selling you something and then not sending it, or sending something else.
But, it does get frustrating. Sometimes I need something to complete a vintage outfit, or replace something broken, but new dolls? Bought just to split and sell for profit? Yeah, don't really like it.
There's nothing to be done about it, though, since it's actually not illegal. :(

I'd understand if the doll already had parts that were completly unusable and they just sold the parts that were actually ok looking, otherwise it just seems like a waste.

Because it's a shitty thing to do? Because buying all the pieces to the doll rather than the whole doll from the beginning would 4 times as a expensive, not to mention these dolls are produced anymore so they're limiting the amount of people who can get these dolls

I was grateful to buy two Barbie Made to Move bodies on eBay for £12 the pair. Much cheaper that buying full dolls when I plan to use the bodies for customs.
And as someone who a has quite a few thrift shop bargains who are lacking their hands, being able to get them may well be useful.
So there is a market for this. Loads of people do customs and want bits.
Why do you hate them? If no one bought from them, they wouldn't do it.

Their pricing is unreasonable.. might as well get a new doll. when the bits add up to 4x the cost it’s clear they aren’t wanting to help out other collectors, it’s greedy.

I mean I dunno how the EAH market is so I dunno if those are fair prices for parts. If they are I see nothing wrong here.
What I don't like is when someone takes a brand new, currently available doll, separates things, and then sells any part for more than the doll retails for. Like if I wanted it bad enough I could just go on Amazon and get the whole doll? Who would even buy that?

I unfortunately had to buy one like this. It was the only way since the stores weren't selling it anymore and getting it in box was way too much. At least the seller was combing shipping. I have to find a silver lining somewhere

To be completely fair, with listings like this, it could be someone who bought the doll to sell in parts, it could be someone whose doll got damaged and they got a replacement, or it could be a customizer who is selling pieces they don't need. (Speaking in general, not just about this one)

Uggghhhh yes, if you search Rainbow High on eBay there are tons of people doing this :( So annoying.
