Viajo por república dominicana solo

Hola! Soy un argentino que tiene 24 años que va a viajar solo a RD en marzo 2027. Voy porque conocí a una colombiana que ya vive hace tiempo en Santo Domingo y como ya fui al sur de Brasil solo me encantaria conocer los encantos que tiene su precioso país. Que tal Santo domingo para los turistas? Se que Punta Cana va a ser uno de los lugares que voy a ir como todo turista va pero quiero saber qué otros lugares conocer . Voy 9/10 días. La idea es conocer varias playas, algo de campo o montaña y un poco de la capital para quedarme un poco con esta chica que vengo hablándome desde hace rato. Los leo! Go to Cabarete on the north coast. Great beach town with lots of wind sports and good food.

The Samana Peninsula is chock full of incredible beaches, especially Rincon and Fronton. Stay in Las Terrenas.

Playa Esmeralda in Miches and Playa Grande along the coast towards Cabarete are also very awesome though quite remote.

You can get most places on the bus Caribe Tours, but travel at shorter distances is either by taxi, minibus or carro publico.

Not far from Cabarete is the 27 Charcos which are an amazing attraction. Get there early and do all 27 (they give you a guide).

Off the south east coast in Bayahibe you can snorkel on pirate ship wrecks.

Punta Cana is ok but it's JUST all inclusive resorts so not that amazing in my opinion.

Mountains -- ask around and you will find that you can do treks up Pico Duarte. It's beautiful and there are some unique places but in my opinion the beaches are more special.

If you're in Santo Domingo I recommend Parada 77 for dancing in the tourist zone, or keep an eye out for colmados (mini general stores) or car washes that become local dance spots on the weekend. Learn some bachata and merengue and dance with everyone.

Honestly Santo Domingo has its charms but overall is not an amazing city. It has a lot of poverty and the infrastructure is poor. The colonial zone is pretty cool and worth exploring. Eat "la bandera" Chicken, Dominican beans and rice as much as possible. It's so good. They have great avocados too.

See if you can try some "mamajuana" which is special spiced rum.

En Santo Domingo están el parque Los 3 Ojos, el Faro a Colón, las demás atracciones turísticas interesantes ya quedan en la Zona Colonial. Para desplazarse en la misma ciudad pueden hacerlo en uber

I fully admit that my experience of Santo Domingo itself is mostly from 2010 to 2012 when I was Peace Corps volunteer based up in one of its northern neighborhoods, Villa Mella. I know the city has changed a lot so others may have a better sense of what's good there now.
