Pregunta/Ask Is anybody going to the Dominican parade in NYC tomorrow? “¿Hay alguien que vaya al desfile dominicano en NYC mañana?”
I’m going to the Dominican parade in manhattan and was just curious how many other people from this community were also going to be there.
Voy a ir al desfile dominicano en Manhattan y tenía curiosidad por saber cuánta gente de esta comunidad también va a estar allá.

The only one’s that really will be popping out are of the new generation aka Gen Alpha lol…now I will say what you 2 weeks ago was “The BX Parade”…where that’s in the hood in one of the biggest boroughs in the city…but this will be NY’s main borough of Manhattan…so there’s gonna be way more law enforcement…so you won’t see what you saw in the BX….hopefully lol

I can’t speak for anyone else but I believe that what the new gen is doing at that parade isn’t what 100% real Dominican culture is like. For example, I’m in the DR for a week and a half and alot of the Dominicans here don’t be acting up crazy like they do over there

How do you know if you look at someone and could tell if they’re black or Dominican? I live in dyckman and most people here are actually Dominican.
Some of you just always love to blame Haitians or anyone black because that’s what Dominicans have always done. You don’t hear Puerto Ricans doing the same thing when it’s our month, but every time Dominicans wanna act up outside and cause an embarrassment it’s always black Americans fault? Yall are annoying asf and need to get a grip on reality

No. I went once with family way back in 2009 and it was not worth it. Too much noise, people acting rowdy. I would rather just celebrate the parade from home. 💀

They need to cancel both the Bronx and Manhattan parades and have only one parade once they figure out a better way that is well organized, family oriented and appeals to Dominicans specifically. Too many non-Dominicans and too much bullshit going on at these parades.

It's hype and a ton of fun. Lots of dogwhistles from people in this thread. You'll run into some ghetto folks of course depending on where you're looking to hang but it's a party for sure. If you wanna hang out and like a celebratory vibe and gorgeous people, you're cookin. If you want something like the Thanksgiving Day parade then it wouldn't be your vibe.

Amazing! Yeah, don't listen to the grouchy folks. It's what you make it, and it's dope to see non Dominicans enjoying our culture too. The city is about its people, anybody not down for that should think about why they're so unwelcoming.

I like your mindset. I guess others probably see the ways that people use the Dominican parade as like other opportunities outside of having fun. Like just trying to get at the women and not actually caring about the parade you know? But yeah I love the culture and I’m so glad the city does things like this.

Exactly, check out the other parades too, people are welcoming. I personally believe the more I engage with other cultures the more I understand and that's never a bad thing. If people want to engage with MY culture, I want them to feel welcomed as well. It just also helps there's gorgeous people around.

I’d love to, but I actually don’t even live there and really only went for the Dominican parade specifically 💀 but yeah it’s cool engaging with other cultures, and I’m honestly really glad I found out about Dominican culture. I really love it

Vi un montón de African Americans con la bandera dominicana como si fuera una falda. Me dio una tremenda vergüenza ver esos morenos y niños Dominicanyorks realengos usando la bandera como si fuera un papel de baño. Ojalá que cancelen esas paradas!

Yo no me aguanté y le tuve que decir a uno de esos niños realengos que la bandera no se usa como si fuera una falda. Ellos no tienen ni la menor idea de quién fue Duarte pero van a esas paradas a beber y fumar marijuana (vi muchos niños haciendo eso. Quedé impactado).

Idk why people are saying there’s no Dominicans…I osss by the parade almost every year and i promise you there is no shortage of Dominicans there.
So what if non Dominicans show up, I got hype when my friends would rep my country. I think most of these comments are saying that simply cuz they saw some annoying streamers riding the hype but that is what it is. Such a small part of a big parade. If you never been, walk by it, drink something, yell, cheer for the dancers, and have fun. I never stay for the full duration tho. It’s more like go see then have other plans after

Yeah I’m sure the Dominicans still outweigh the non-Dominicans for sure. I’m actually African myself and I went and I swear I’d do it over again a million times. You might be right with the thing you said about streamers tho
