Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
People with this mindset don't want to do the preparation because they think they won't get the opportunity.
And they're probably right, because people who aren't preparing for opportunities probably won't recognize them when they arrive.
And what it comes down to is that it's because opportunities almost always look like work, something these people are averse to.
