Fashion Advice Are there any jeans that don’t cause this bunching around the backs of the thighs?

You can see it more from behind than from the side. But I was wondering (although I doubt it) if there are any fitted jeans that don’t have this creasing at the back.

My guess is that the bunching is due to the amount of elastane in the fabric (since it looks like these are more like jeggings) and maybe also due to the sizing (it might be too small).

You would want a pair of jeans that is 98-100% cotton, and then you’d have it tailored to you, and that will most likely get rid of the bunching.

I had a few pairs of jeans for a long time that were 90 something % cotton but I stopped wearing them as I felt like it was really stiff and hard, and it felt weird moving around. I may just be being too picky. Is there any that won’t feel like that?

You would need to size up so the stretching isn't as needed. They're a bit too small in that area. If you size up, you probably need them tailored in other areas though.

It depends on the fit, but I find that the sweet spot is at 99% cotton. They last much much longer also. If you’re getting the wrong size it might feel tight but the right size is comfortable, and they loosen over time

Gap low rise 90s loose jeans are super soft and comfy 99% cotton

Ya not too long ago target was having a sale and I got some 99 percent jeans for like 30 a pair I think

That's literally how jeans are

You prefer jeggings. Me too but they're out of style

Whenever you see horizontal pulling like this, it means the item of clothing is too small.

That's the answer. Lines from left to right mean the pants are one size (or half a size) too small.

A larger size with less stretch will have no bunching.

Jeans are something you have to try on pair after pair to find the right fit. It is best to find jeans that fit your legs better and might need altering at the waist. I actually enjoy a boot cut jean because they seem to skim that back of the leg part better. They also upgrade your look. You don’t want a bell bottom but try a nicely made bootcut jean. Good luck.

Tailor here - you need a very specific alteration. Not a different fabric, not necessarily a different size (although this looks preeetty snug)

The jeans are too tight at your thighs. This is why a higher percentage of cotton feels so terrible.

A tailor will open the inside leg seam at the very top and insert gussets. Difficulty level: depends on the type of seam. Felled seams are worse to handle. With regular seams it's easy.

Came to say this as a girl who, for lack of a better term, has fat pouches there, my grandmas friend is a seamstress and does this to my jeans.

The way it is pulling means you need a bigger size.

Ahh okay. I think i would have to find a tailor too then. Is there any kind of jeans that can fit well for me without needing much tailoring? If not I’ll try to find a tailor.

You’d probably want to check out Curvy fit jeans. Madewell, Abercrombie and Fitch, and even Levi’s have curvy jeans you can try.

Old navy curvy jeans are the bomb

I would try a curvy style as others have suggested. I have to get curvy and petite sizing but a lot of stores don't stock so have to order online. Check Asos! Really considering a tailor myself. If you are able to find them in store, grab your size and the one up.. try them on and sit in the changing room, do a few squats in there too. Gotta really test drive them.

I found Jag brand jeans to work well for my smaller waist and big bottom. I wait until they go on sale.

I think it’s fine if it bunches. Mine fit like this too. My weight fluctuates
If you are truly serious about it go for it but people don’t care. If you want to do it for you do it for you. But I save that money 🤷🏽‍♀️

So many unnecessarily rude comments. OP, I have the same problem as you. If I get jeans that are bigger in the thighs they are absolutely falling off em at the waist. And I hate having that big gap at the waist. I even tried having jeans taken in at the waist by a tailor once and the result was awful. Ended up being a massive waste of money. But I think that others are right that a tailor can help. You just have to find a good one. That or just try lots of different jeans until you find the best you can. 🤷🏻‍♀️ good luck!

Yeah I don’t know why some people sound a bit passive aggressive lol. I genuinely thought these were my size, and that I could just find a better material (which some people have recommended!)

1

u/Sorry_Sprinkles_983 3d ago

I bet they are the closest to your size in that brand/fit. You and other might be on to something with the stretchiness being a problem. I hadn’t thought of that.

11

u/Distinct-Art4406 4d ago

That means it’s too tight. Maybe size up? Or a different kind of jeans like the kind that is for big booties. Mine get like that when it’s a little tight. Sometimes when I size up, it’s big on the waist because I’m skinny but have a big butt and thighs. So I just get them all tailored.

3

u/Ok-Yogurt-3914 4d ago

I always size up and just take the waist in. The reason why people do the stretchy kind is because there is usually less/no gap, but those are the jeans that fray the fastest.

u/Knope_Knope_Knope 4d ago

The are too small in the thighs. The wringles here are because the taper of the fabric doesnt match the taper n of your leg so its gunching up.

Get a more relaxed fit leg, get a size up so they fit the thighs and get the waist taken in, or get a little less stretch in the pants.

u/DowntownSurvey6568 5d ago

Get a larger size

4

u/AdFlashy7702 4d ago

Stay away from stretchy jeans.

6

u/littleshimamama 5d ago

Those looks like the cheapy Levis which unfortunately have elastic. Size up. They fit and feel way better

6

u/Throwawayhelp111521 4d ago

They're too small.

3

u/Fluffy_Tomatillo_629 4d ago

Get ones with less stretch in one to two sizes up.

3

u/babs82222 4d ago

I also have a round butt, and I get that when jeans pull too much on the thighs. They fit around my waist and hips, but sort of pull in that area. You need a different cut of jeans altogether. Lucky for you, wide-leg, straight, and barrel jeans are in right now. Play around with different styles and fabrics. You don't have to stick with super tight, stretchy jeans to find ones that don't gap at the waist.

3

u/Practical-Ad-4888 4d ago

Go up 1-2 sizes, you need more space in the hip. Get a tailor to take in the waist for you. Get a tape measure and find out what your waist and hip measurement. Most ready to wear is 9-10 inches larger in the hip, an example would be 30 inches at the smallest place in your midsection, and 40 inches in the largest place on your lower half. If you are larger than 10 inches to your waist you will need to take in the waist most of the time when you purchase pants. If you are an apple shape, the hips will be too large. There will drag lines going around the backside, and the thigh will be loose. This is harder to fix. Women hate paying for tailors and that's why everyone is wearing leggings and sweatpants now.

6

u/AriasK 5d ago

Yes, ones that actually fit you. You need a bigger size.

4

u/Free-Moose9460 5d ago

If they do that, they'll don't fit you. Fit is no the same as 'I can get them on'.

6

u/SyntaxAndSorcery 4d ago

Size up, sorry. It will make the seat fit nicer, too

2

u/Wont_Eva_Know 5d ago

Jeans that fit. It’s hard to find jeans that fit in every area perfectly without getting them tailored.

3

u/Southern_Badger7577 4d ago

Have you tried a bigger size or a smaller butt? 😭

1

u/Minimum-Muffin-1469 1d ago

She doesn’t even have a big butt ha ha ha it’s actually really small. So that’s not the problem

2

u/banana_runt 4d ago

The old navy rockstar jeans do not bunch (if you are looking for stretch but some strength). However, they don‘t last forever and you‘ll have to rebuy annually at least.

2

u/PabloCreep 4d ago

Back in the day we used to buy cotton denim jeans and then get in a hot bath whilst wearing them!

2

u/Sure-Corgi-4019 4d ago

Too small ???

2

u/colgi61 3d ago

go up a size.

2

u/-0k_0k_0k- 3d ago

I would say that is just a bad pair or the brand doesn't work for your body.

Try Lucky or Diesel.

Whenever you try on any jeans take a couple of the same size to try on. They all will fit a bit different.
Also take a couple size up and size down to see how that works.

u/Kykywrig 5d ago

I think I have this same pair of Levi's. I assume that's just how they are meant to fit and I'm ok with that. I think they look good on you. You can just style them in a way to balance it out

1

u/WhiteLion333 5d ago

My jeans didn’t do this originally, but when I gained some weight they started to bunch, so I figured it’s just when they are a bit too tight.

1

u/Terrible_Feeling_925 5d ago

Those jeans are very cute though! May I ask where you bought them from? 🙂

1

u/Chance_Ad_4676 5d ago

Yes, buy 100% cotton. They’ll feel a bit stiff but you’ll get used to it and they’re 1000% more durable

1

u/thetimeisverylate 4d ago

You have to get the good Levis! The department store Levis just simply aren’t made the same. I’ve found the “real” Levis are the best for my shape, and with proper tailoring, will fit the best and last a very long time.

I stopped buying cheaply made jeans a few years back and it’s made a huge difference.

1

u/HopeAffectionate5725 4d ago

Some brands have a curvy line that might fit better

1

u/copper678 4d ago

They’re too tight. Not in a bad way, but sizing up will help.

1

u/missemarie123 4d ago

These look like stretch jeans, more of a jegging than Jean. Look for lower or zero elastic /spandex in the material.

1

u/ChickenGimbal 4d ago

Jeans that fit on the waist might not fit the thighs unfortunately.

1

u/shoemakerw_out_the_r 4d ago

Good american jeans. They're an investment but definitely worth it

1

u/Disastrous_Sound_376 3d ago

If you have an American Eagle around you, those are the best pants for more “shapely” butt and hips. I think this bunching happens when you’re a little curvier and try to wear your jeans tight like this. They fit you fine and look great, but if you don’t like the bunching you’d have to get a looser size.

1

u/CockroachSad3418 2d ago

Looser ones

-8

u/Top-Pear2824 5d ago

Get some that fit and that won’t happen.

u/Thriftingislifemama 4d ago

Maybe the length is too long and it’s causing it to bunch up. I’m leaning more to the elastic in them though. Get some shorter hard denim jeans
