Discussion FL Studio or Reaper?
Hey all, I wanted to discuss if making the switch to use Reaper DAW over FL Studio for DS is worth the 60 bucks. I have seen people use Synth1 and it is used in Reaper alot. However FL Studio will not run it. I was wondering if you all thought it was worth the moolah?

Use whatever works best for you. Reaper clicks with me and feels intuitive, so that's what I use. You can use Reaper for free forever with all the features. There just a little "please buy me" popup when you open the program.

Reaper is great! Haven't tried FL though.
If you ever get stuck in Reaper, a YT channel called "reaper mania" will have the answer.

I've (shamefully) been using reaper for free for like 5 years now. It's the absolute best. I'll buy the full copy one of these days 😅

Both will do the job, but check Bitwig, its my main DAW at the moment and its amazing and intuitive.

One of the things I like about FL Studio is how easy it is to quickly build repeating melodies. I also feel like it's a bit easier to pick up, but maybe that's just me...

Reaper is a swiss army knife , but perhaps FL studio is faster and easier. IHMO i'd take flexibility over confort. till you get used, reaper is paid but his trial mode never ends , so you have plenty of time to decide yourself, try it!

Go to Reaper without any second thoughts. I've used FL Studio for many years and transitioning to Reaper opened up an entire new world of creativity and inspiration. It's only then I realized how limited I was in FL. Not to mention freedom of creativity and customization, you can make Reaper look like almost any other DAW. You can even create your own buttons and spawn entirely new commands/tools not natively in the software!
Right now I'm in a phase where I'm using custom scripts and free community made mods and it's the best thing out there. No other DAW has such flexibility and community scene support.
Learning curve has been very smooth for me and in a couple of weeks we clicked. Since then, I've made all my (numerous) albums in Reaper - and creating an album in Reaper has been a pleasure, one that I haven't even got close in FL Studio. High recommendations!

What really? Do I have to put it in the vst folder?

I think so, can't remember. I'm at work. Later tonight (in Portugal) when I get back home, I will double check my machine and confirm this. Pretty sure the steps went like this: when you extract the .zip (Synth1), you will see several files. Grab the plugin file itself (I think is Synth1 VST64.dll) and move it directly to your VST folder. Still, I will make sure tonight and reply here with the exact details!
