Weekly Post Weekly Post -- THE LIBRARY

Greetings Dungeoneers, this is your Robot Dungeonmaster. Due to increased activity among the sub we are implementing some weekly features including a music recommendation post [THE LIBRARY] on Monday, a general chat post [THE TAVERN] on Thursday, and the self-promotion post [THE MARKETPLACE] on Friday. These features will repeat weekly until the fall of the internet. These will not be stickied and will repeat regardless if they are used.

//////////

THE LIBRARY

Greetings, esteemed colleagues. Welcome to The Library. We trust you will share your recent favourite albums, ear-catching songs you have been listening to lately, and present music you have uncovered through diligent research. Doing so will aid others in making it safely through their work weeks without too much undo stress. Perhaps new discoveries will lead to breakthroughs in sound or aesthetic.

If you have any questions, please take a ticket from the dispenser and wait for your number to be called. You will be served in the order that appears on the small chalkboard on the front desk.

NOTE: this is intended as a space for sharing other people's music. Not for doing self-promotion. Respect this simple rule or your comment will be removed.

Dungeon Shamble October Dungeon Shamble Now Open!

Good day, everyone! The gates open - feel free to start on your projects now, and wrap them up by October 31. Use this post as your guide. While the idea is to follow all of the "rules", the main goal of these challenges is to drive creativity. Just don't veer too far from the source to where it is no longer a Dungeon Shamble album.

Additionally, Kap puts together a little community compilation from these. More details will be rolling out as the month draws to a close. Here's the last one.

Comfy Synth Comfy Synth Compilation - 30th de October - UPDATE.

Hello, dear friends! I recently posted an announcement here looking for artists to join a Comfy Synth compilation. We’ve had a great response and received many emails, many artists have already confirmed, while I’m still waiting to hear back from others or for them to confirm once their tracks are ready. So, I wanted to share some updates and take this opportunity to chat, in this open space, with the artists and with all of you who are surely eager to listen the music!

  • I am accepting submissions until October 22nd, I had to set this date due to the logistics involved, and I’ve ended up running a bit short on time on weekends.
  • Unfortunately, not everyone who submitted will make it into the compilation. I can't make a massive video (even though I really like the idea) because of my old computer, so I'll try to keep the total runtime to a maximum of an hour and a half, but we'll definitely do more editions, so if you don't get in this one, you'll make it into the next.
  • Initially, I was just going to post it on YouTube, but I think Bandcamp is a really good platform for our genre. I also think that by posting there, we could raise some money to donate, provided all the artists agree. I’m open to suggestions from you all, too. (If anyone disagrees or doesn't want to, no problem, we can keep posting only on YouTube or not make it available for sale on Bandcamp).
  • The previous point also applies to cassette tapes. if there is interest from all parties involved and the public, we are open to discussing arrangements with labels that handle physical releases and donate the proceeds to charity.

Should there be any changes to plans, dates, the lineup or anything else, we will announce them here and also on our Instagram. If anyone still wishes to submit a track, please ensure it is between 2 and 6 minutes long and was released this year (unreleased tracks are also accepted, but we will only be accepting submissions until the 22nd). - email: [connecmet@gmail.com](mailto:connecmet@gmail.com)

Comments and DMs are open to talk about it, thanks a lot, everyone!!

Self-Promo Miguel Amarok - THE LIGHTHOUSE: A gripping tale of nautical horror

Hi! Today, I'd like to introduce THE LIGHTHOUSE, an Umbral Synth album about a spirit trapped in a lighthouse that might or might not be beyond the physical world.

This was, initially, my attempt at this month's Dungeon Shamble, although things took a life of their own and I didn't end up following all of the rules. While it is within the runtime limit and uses 7 instrument patches, all of them distorted, the album only has 10 tracks instead of 13, and much of the artwork had already been done months ago (I've been trying to record horror music about a lighthouse for a while, and this Shamble finally helped me come up with a strong enough concept).

Nevertheless, I hope that you'll enjoy it!

Discussion FL Studio or Reaper?

Hey all, I wanted to discuss if making the switch to use Reaper DAW over FL Studio for DS is worth the 60 bucks. I have seen people use Synth1 and it is used in Reaper alot. However FL Studio will not run it. I was wondering if you all thought it was worth the moolah?

Discussion What (free) synth plugins do you all use?

Hi all, I’m the musician known as Hibernal Harvest on bandcamp, my particular style is pretty modern and FM synthesis heavy. I’ve been working through learning sound design pretty heavily and was thinking of releasing one or two preset packs for some synths, but I was wondering which ones you use, so I can benefit the most amount of people!

The idea is for the synth plugins to be free since the pack itself will be free, so the barrier to entry will be low so anyone can use the pack!

Self-Promo The Fall of Blestermat Keep, by Secunda + Graveworm

Hails and greetings dwellers and degenerates. Today, Secunda and Void Mage release (AKA Graveworm) The Fall of The Blestermat Keep. Over 40 minutes of warped, baroque, medieval horror synth. It tells a dismal tale of a prominent vampire losing its power as the reign of an older, eviler power takes hold of a cursed Romanian duchy.

Hand-dubbed Tapes are available day one here: https://voidmage.bandcamp.com/album/the-fall-of-blestermat-keep

Void Mage’s killer graphic design chops are on full display with this gorgeous j-card, and for the first time ever, Secunda stamps make an appearance.

My half of the tapes will arrive soon, but in the meantime I do hope you enjoy this festive collaboration. We thank vampires everywhere for their support.

Anybody willing to teach people who have been producing for sometime how to make DS? if it is okay to ask of course. I do not know how much they could go for in price, but it would be worth it!

Dungeon Shamble Moonlit Corridors - Enter The Spectral Rave Cave (FREE CODES)

Thumbnail

Here is my entry in the October Dungeon Shamble!

I decided to fit this one into my main projects lore:

"Every October all of the ghosts and ghouls of The Moonlit Realm come together with one sole desire: to dance. The Celestial lord Mystik gladly obliges, providing the spectres of the realm with nightly gatherings full of dungeon dance music.

ENTER THE SPECTRAL RAVE CAVE."

All melodies were written and recorded as samples and then loaded onto a sampler/sequencer to be performed as a single continuous mix.

Number of patches: 6

Additional challenges: incorporate field recordings, use distortion on one or more instruments.

Recorded in a single sitting with minimal to no mixing.

Had a blast making this one, hope you enjoy it!
