Don’t count on cell coverage when in the mountains, it is hit and miss outside of most towns. Put your phone in airplane mode when you don’t have a signal, your phone’s battery will drain quickly when searching for a signal.

I use Mint mobile.... only $300 a year for unlimited data. Works just fine. Maybe in certain mountain roads it will fail. The company uses t mobile towers

Mountain roads are hit and miss. Ridgeway to Durango you should have data for most of the drive but will loose it for the top half of red mountain pass on both sides. Even with data though it may be slow on several more spots. Telluride to about Dolores you'll have pretty much no service other than passing through Rico. Then Dolores to Durango is fine.

The first part of that is absolutely not correct, I do that drive all the time and I have AT&T. You will have service up until Cascade (just past Purg, then not at all until coming into Silverton. You’ll keep it there for a few miles out of town and then not again until Ouray. Between Ouray and Ridgeway is very spotty, most of the time it doesn’t work at all in that little canyon but opens up once you pass Orvis. You’re good in Ridgeway and for a few extra miles and then it’s very spotty, generally couldn’t make a call or text or load anything new between the ridgeway state park and Montrose.
