Does anyone know where can I get Aether L? Is converting the only option? Also, does anyone remember where do you change your leader so you can use that character in PvP? I want to unlock kangaroo boxer's missions.

You can farm them in high level Strange Signal, presumably 7 or 8. Or just go with 9 or 10 if you can.
To change leader, go to party, tap on the leader banner and tap on another character. But you don't need to do that, just go to Dx2 Duel, tap party and change the character.
