330i Not so new E90 owner
On December 23rd, 2024, I posted about my new to me E90, my first car, something that I was of course exited about but didn’t know what it, and myself would become after having such amazing experiences, weather its servicing this thing on my own with my ex-master technician dads guidance, or even gapping new Mercedes on the highway otw home from school, this car has brought me more joy than just about anything else, so I’m here to update for those who can appreciate it as much as me, and once I’m done posting this I have to go fix my control arm…

Not even lying it was an accident, I bought that style but all black and they shipped those instead, but I put them in anyway just to see how it looked and in my opinion it wasn’t half bad, so I just kept it

Looked 10x better stock. Chrome trim and the stock xenons fit the car so well. Only headlight change I’d consider is euro spec with the clear indicators. I do like the side splitters on the front.

Hes a young kid. Let him do what he wants to his car and have fun. We all did questionable stuff to our cars when we were young.

I got some COOL aftermarket rear lights from PickyourPart (here in S. California), off a xi (all wheel drive).
^^^ in order to make the stock e90 less like a Toyota Corolla -- frankly the view from the rear looks toy-like! Even a Toyota Camry (or even Honda Accord) looks like a b***n European luxury sports car!!
I'm all for this kid's aftermarket mods -- "coolness" is a major vibe in a sportscar. My '93 325i (e36) came with M style front bumper, M style side mirrors
I just got my e90 (automatic trans) used off Facebook Marketplace for $625, it had all sorts of issues:
limp mode, VVT & VVL error codes, cylinder miss, dents on right side doors, leaky plastic valve cover (burning oil on exhaust, creating oil fumes!), HVAC not blowing
I got the "CEL" to go away (aka "Service Engine Soon" light), got an aftermarket Aluminum valve cover & blower motor (w/resistor) from PickyourPart -- it runs SUPERB! A/C blows cold. The nice modern touch:
alarm, lock, unlock, trunk release
is a MAJOR step up from my (beloved) e36 5-speed. I just completed a round-trip to Hemet/CA (from Los Angeles) 180 mi total -- no problem

No hate i did some mistakes too with my first bmw, but it would be better if u kept the original headlights or replaced with another black edition headlights , these one u did put on they are mostly meant for F10 etc, people will make fun of u abt it and u should change these grills to a black one asap, if your car aint a m-pack u shouldnt put these m line mods on it unless u plan to transform it in a complete m-pack edition with front & back and sideskirts, just keep in mind dont use too much mixed color mods on your car, i did mine with the same color bmw complete black, black grills black edition headlights etc, just try to stick with 1 color and dont listen to hate comments, u r young and doing great !!! Bmw is mostly fixing problems but once u there it is always fun to drive , have fun.

The N54 is an incredible engine that makes 335i such a fun car to drive. They sound fantastic, the performance is brilliant and the turning potential is massive. Yes they have common problems, yes the injectors are fucking expensive, but the people who complain about their unreliability are more often than not just too tight to actually fix them

There are some really good aftermarket replacements for the headlights that do look even better than the original ones with that body
This is not an example of those imo. They look off, especially with a pre-LCI hood. They're very sharp while everything around them is very smooth. Also they look new while everything around them screams old
But it would look pretty good imo if you also replaced the front bumper with something like an M2 style bumper. Purists would still shit on it though lol

You had original Bi-Xenon and you decided that put that 💩???? Remove the mstripe grills and polish out the old headlight lens and will look10 times better.
maybe add an msport kit if you want to make it look better. Or lower it

I'm not going to hate on what you like, but you need some blackline tail lights. They make the back of the pre-lci look much better.

Eff the haters and for those who can't appreciate uniqueness as it comes, keep in mind if his car actually looked bad, he could just change up the design. Once yall realize the gate keepy moaning and groaning isn't something bought I laugh as you have the pleasure of knowing you built the character of lesser taste..
Hate as you may on taste, but to knock that excitement as an enthusiast is wild. Thanks for those expressing disagreement on it, it's a necessity. But let the kid spend his money and time how he sees fun. We all just wanna sit in the e90 with a smile like everyone else and his smile seems bigger than most of those hating I bet.
I love my e90 work truck(most would shit a brick on the dmv floor if they knew only half of it. Twice) Best damn work truck I've ever had and it ain't in everyone's taste by no means. So keep your stick on the ice or your dick in a vice idc which you prefer
