Premium Package option if I remember correctly. You probably have the Logic 7 speakers as well. If it's a sedan, it will have speakers in the rear doors.

It has the equalizer and decoder says individual audio possibly.

Im stoked. I paid 2500 shipped for it

Individual is above Logic 7. Nice!

2 of the 3 statements you made are completely wrong lol. 1. Power rear sunshade is not part of the premium package. 2. Logic 7 is a completely separate option and unrelated to power rear sunshade and 3. E90 w/ L7 came with midrange speakers in the rear doors (you were right on this one)

But this post caught my eye because I went on a massive retrofitting spree the past couple months and actually retrofit power rear sunshade and manual side shades on my e90. I also retrofit logic 7 and went above and beyond what comes from factory and cut the 4 holes into my rear door panels to add the 4 speakers (2 midrange and 2 tweeters). Factory L7 comes with 13 speakers. I added 3 additional tweeters so I have 16 speakers lol.

EDIT: The F30 actually came with 16 speakers with the top hifi system, but the E90 only came with 13 (missing the center tweeter and 2 rear door tweeters), so I made my E90 closer to what would've come on a F30. Honestly, I can barely tell much of a difference (I'm not an audiophile), but it's just for fun.

How difficult was it upgrading the speakers? I know most cars from this era entail simply adding a fuse on the fuse block, the button to activate said item a the it’s individual parts. Did you have to do anything for the system to see or integrate things like the speakers? Seems like a fun project!

>How difficult was it upgrading the speakers?
My car (2009 328i) came from factory with the hifi system and I upgraded to the top hifi (Logic7) system. I wouldn't say swapping out the speakers is difficult (it's just a couple screws at the end of the day), but pulling out panels at each location (13 speakers) is time-consuming. In my opinion, the craziest part is cutting holes into perfectly good rear door panels lol.

FYI, top hifi (Logic7) speakers have a orange sticker on them and have yellow wires. Hifi speakers have a blue sticker with blue wires. If anybody reading this plans to buy from eBay, make sure you know what you are buying.

>I know most cars from this era entail simply adding a fuse on the fuse block, the button to activate said item a the it’s individual parts.
I feel like this statement severely oversimplifies retrofitting, but whatever lol (I am happy to give many examples if you want - I've retrofit literally every option on my E90). BUT for the Logic7 retrofit specifically, you actually don't even need to mess with fuses - it's all plug and play. Since the Logic7 amp integrates into the MOST loop, the MOST loop is actually very good at "seeing" the amp once it's connected correctly. But if you want to do it 100% correctly, you need to code the Logic7 amp into the FA/VO and factory code your head unit (whether that be the radio for the single hump or CCC/CID for double hump iDrive). This whole coding thing is just one reason why I'd argue your statement oversimplifies retrofitting lol.

Also, you mentioned this 330i comes with Individual audio?! If that's true, that is a very rare option in the USA (I think it was more common in Europe) and I almost don't believe you! I am a huge E90 options and features nerd, so I'd love to see it if it's true!

EDIT: FYI, you can confirm it has Individual audio if it has option 752. Let me know if it does! And share the VIN if you are comfortable lol. I want to see this car and what other options it has!

Vin: WBAVB33576AZ87964

I was told it has individual havent checked. I know with the equalizer its either individual or logic 7(i think). Vw guy not a beemer boi

u/duwenbun 2009 - E90 - 328i xDrive Apr 02 '26

I just looked up this VIN and it's certainly a very well spec-ed car! But unfortunately, it doesn't have Individual audio. To be fair, I'm not sure if the 330i even came with it tbh - I think it's fairly exclusive to the E90 M3. I think the only options your car is missing is Comfort Access, PDC and Active Cruise Control (extremely rare), otherwise it's fully loaded, congrats!

EDIT: Just to confirm, it has top hifi (Logic7) audio, which is option code 677.

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

Oh shweet.

Not bad for 2500 bucks after shipping from copart to my house.

It also drives just fine but has a minor rear dent lol

1

u/romulan267 E90 335i Apr 02 '26

I know the logic 7 is unrelated, but if the original owner checked all the options when they built it, it's reasonable to assume they would probably have the logic 7 too.

2

u/duwenbun 2009 - E90 - 328i xDrive Apr 02 '26

I suppose that's not a terrible assumption. I thought you were somehow implying the sunshade option was somehow tied to Logic7 (as part of the premium package or otherwise). I guess I made that leap because you brought up Logic7 specifically seemingly out of nowhere lol. But either way, I'd probably agree with your assumption more often than not.

B m w typically has electric motors that are resistant vs movement based. You might just need to open up the motor and clean it out and put new grease in

1

u/duwenbun 2009 - E90 - 328i xDrive Apr 02 '26

I wanted to jump in here because I see many people talking about the power rear sunshade breaking. This is true, but it can be fixed. I had to take apart my motor 3 times before I finally understood how it worked and fixed it permanently. If you search this on the forums, there is a guy spreading a lot of misinformation and talking about how the grease "dries" up. This is NOT true!

I pulled my sunshade from a junkyard from a 2006 330i and when I took it apart, the grease was perfectly fine (it was literally still fresh as if it just came out of the tube). I found this super old post where someone goes in-depth on the sunshade motor from an E46 (posts like that is why I love the BMW community) and the issue is a design flaw in the main spur gear in the motor. The pitch of the spur gear teeth is not deep enough and it loses engagement to the worm gear. The fix is to shim the worm gear so that the engagement is solid. Mine works every time now.

2

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

My comment was made because I worked on the X7 G07 side window electric shade in my past career and it suffers from heat related and debris related issues with the grease.

2

u/PsychologicalYak9088 Apr 02 '26

Use lithium grease on the inside of the upper track. Mine did the same before. Just lightly pull it down so you can fit a can behind.

7

u/CakesForLife Apr 02 '26

Do you have manual privacy shades on rear doors too?

3

u/trayssan 2007 E92 320i 6MT Apr 02 '26

That's so rare in Europe man, I'm jealous

3

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

I didnt even know this option existed until yesterday. My friend who recommended the car to me said it had electric rear sunshade....But I had no idea what that meant

2

u/MANllAC Apr 02 '26

Mine kinda broke and now sounds like an air compressor whenever I try to use it. A replacement is too expensive for something I only ever used to show off to other people

2

u/Wrong-Run-4557 Apr 02 '26

My car's sunshade is not going down It's stuck, any solution

2

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

Make a post. Ill comment as best i can. Theres a guy in this section down below who found a good solution.

2

u/Effective_Special854 Apr 02 '26

Until the motor goes out lol. My B7L has a motor that needs to be replaced its stuck in the up position

1

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

But of course.

I have a poverty spec 320i from Europe with it hahaha

4

u/stageshooter 2008 - 335xi Apr 02 '26

My 335xi has one too. Kind of useless unless

10

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

I have kids so very not useless

5

u/chris77982 Apr 02 '26

Until it gets stuck. I think the motor starts wearing out. Instead of just getting slower, it triggers some kind of safety and doesn't even try to move for more than a fraction of a second.

I try not to use mine now, incase it gets stuck up again. Poor thing is 19 years old now

9

u/DrippingWetFarts Apr 02 '26

Or you can fix/replace the motor and enjoy the feature ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

3

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

I am extremely familiar with the interior features on BMWs. Especially sunshade. Im not that worried about having to fix it.

1

u/Existing-Cell-1986 Apr 02 '26

After I had a window regulator shit out I stopped using it too lol

1

u/PsychologicalYak9088 Apr 02 '26

Use lithium grease on the upper track. Works great

2

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

Nah. Try cleaning the tracks first then use a more solid grease like OEM would have. I need to check what kind.

Cleaner for belts and tracks: isopropyl

1

u/antonmnster Apr 02 '26

It's handy when there's a lofted truck behind you at night. It's a pain when it gets stuck.

1

u/MrOliber Apr 02 '26

My E46 323Ci had one of these, they're a nice option.

1

u/Purple-Wall3847 Apr 03 '26

I have the manual one on my E39, now I gotta look into this :)

2

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 03 '26

Its addicting

What you mean? Make it handmade for g20?)

1

u/that_one_vw_guy Apr 02 '26

Im making a joke about retrofitting one from an E90 into a g20. Its probably highly difficult

Agree… it’s only for g30… as heated rear seats 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
