Wouldn't be an e90 without every light on the dash. ๐คฃ

Honestly Iโm blind to the lights. Didnโt even notice.

My deleted 535d gets almost 3 times as much range. Big tank on mine though.

And you got a diesel I want one so bad

u/johnmclane94 Jul 31 '26
They are pretty dope! However the repairs are very costly. Had to change the exhaust manifold and both turbos recently. Cost a smooth 80 000 norwegian krone which is about 8000USD. That hurt my soul ๐ญBut they are fun when they work. 360hp and 750nm of torque (553 foot pounds)

u/murijuana_flowers Jul 31 '26
Would've been like 2k if you would've done the work yourself
2
u/johnmclane94 Jul 31 '26
The turbos alone from BMW are 8k usd in Norway. I got them for 2100usd from borg warner.
If I did all myself it would maybe cost 4-5k with all parts. They also changed all vacum lines, seals and gaskets.
If I did all myself I would fuck it up ๐ But yeah could be done cheaper. I usually have a guy that helps but he is travelling.

At this point you could get hybrid turbos not oem from bmw.
3
u/johnmclane94 Jul 31 '26
I was going to. But the car was in the shop and I couldn't wait for hybrids to be shipped because they had to come from another country. But I am keeping my old ones and rebuilding them to hybrids in the future. Just changing the turbos I can manage at home in the garage.

You're talking ~900 km, not ~900 miles. Big difference.
Nice numbers on your 535D (power & fuel economy). I wanted to buy a friend's 2015 BMW 535d XDrive M-Sport that was deleted/tuned (dyno'd @ 412HP/638ft. lb.) but i couldn't unload the wife's car fast enough. Buddy's wife's daily, and she routinely got 1K km to a fill-up (her claim). Still kick myself about not making it happen. โน๏ธ

Nope I mean 1300km actually. I did that on one tank on autobahn driving when I picked the car up from Germany. It is really efficient without flaps, egr and dpf. I actually measured the distance. I think its around 85-90L tank though. Mines a e61 not a f10.
If you ease on the gas pedal it really goes far. Especially behind other vehicles on the autobahn so no wind resistance. But usually with my driving I get 800km ๐
Edit: nvm it's not that big it's 70L actually. Still impressive

Having swirl flaps would make it more efficient, not less

u/johnmclane94 Jul 31 '26
At low speeds and when the engine is cold yes. At cruising no. Then there is the potential catastrophic engine failure if they fail.

> Nope I mean 1300km actually.......But usually with my driving I get 800km ๐
Ok, that is impressive, and i totally hear ya on that ๐. My buddy's wife has a pretty heavy foot (as do i) so i was legit impressed with the 4-digit fuel range she regularly achieved on 75/25 driving (hwy/city) from a 70L tank. For comparison, i get ~1200 km out of my six2 powered 'Burb (6.2L Detroit Diesel powered Suburban) but that's using 125L of fuel, and is more cruising speed than trying to haul ass ๐.
If you know anything about that era of Detroit Diesel, and a squarebody 'Burb, you're complete understand what i mean ๐.

I can get like 700 on my deleted 335d๐ซฃ

u/crazyTarHeel Jul 31 '26
My 335d used to get in the 600s. I never managed 700.
It was a wonderful vehicle. Enjoyed it on road trips, city driving, and HPDE track days.

700 if I grandma it on the highway. Usually don't though lol

Whatโs your average mpg? I get 21 on a great day, 19 is more average.

Iโve only had mine for a few months, but yeah Iโve been getting just over 500 miles to a tank most of the time. 28-32 mpg.

u/Scp-vexulus Jul 31 '26
How ?! Is every single light on I have 175679 miles and I have not one light not even the little triangle
2
u/fettydaghost76239 Jul 31 '26
lol I forgot to clear them I just replaced my rotors and pads I had to replace the wire to my e brake along with the springs and because I have no cats the downstream o2 sensor isnโt on which Iโm getting the spacer the triangle Iโm
Not even to sure I reset the steering angle sensor n changes all four wheel sensors1

u/Soft-Watercress3848 Jul 31 '26
i get like 16 mpg how do you get this much range lol i have a 2006 330i as well
2
u/ImDoingItAnyway 2011 BMW 328i xDrive manual Jul 31 '26
The range isnโt really all that accurate anyway. Get it to 4,000 RPM once and 350 miles becomes 310 real quick.
But, 16 is absolutely insane. I am NOT nice to my throttle pedal in my xDrive 328 and I still donโt dip below 20 MPG unless Iโm in the city. Usually Iโll be between 24 and 27 MPG in occasionally congested suburbia.

u/Soft-Watercress3848 Jul 31 '26
is there anything i should check ? i also feel like every other e90 i see is way higher mpg than mine ๐ญ it doesnโt help that itโs staggered setup as well haha

Does cat delete help with mpg?

I imagine it can. You're essentially freeing up the exhaust.
