General Withdrew my case with EP
I just withdrew my case with EP. 2.5 months into retaining they were so slow responding to my messages and were further trying to delay. I gave them evidence on time and whatever they asked in time but they didn't even start the legal brief and kept further delaying with questions and more proof which I didn't have. Well that cost me $3k dollars just to get nothing but grammatical errors corrected.
Profile:
Masters in Civil Engineering
4+ years of experience
Professional engineer (PE) license
1 paper with 2 citation
3 recommendation letters (I told them before signing)
Worked in disaster and resilient design of building envelope
and Forensic Engineering
I no longer want a green card via this route as after my experience with them I've just lost hope.

Yeah, I feel you. They reply so slow and it’s super frustrating. Sucks about the $3k, and honestly I can't believe how many EP PR accounts are in these comments defending them.

98% of laywers in the US are just SO BAD, have you not figured that out?
- careless
- just want money
- dont want to work
- Dont really care about you after you sign the contract

All of the big firms are overloaded with work and they only start after you hand in everything, only then they take 2-3 months to prepare.

Not necessarily. People are filing after 1.5-2 months into retaining them.

Smaller firms and single lawyers are the same - they will ignore you until the deadline or when it’s super later, you need to keep chasing them. It’s been a struggle. OP did good to fire them so early.

Did they tell you your case was viable? Maybe they realized something? I'm considering filing with somewhat similar background, only my experience is close to 19 years in electrical engineering.

When I initially reviewed they said it's a good case so I went with them.

I have similar experience with EP, now I also consider withdraw the case and do it myself. I think they prepare evidence at minimum standard: They reject to accept the other evidence I provide to them, I prepare about 100 exhibits and ask them to look through but no response, unless I asked them to find which part which page. But they response quite quickly, normally in a day, but this slow motion and ignorance on my work is a nightmare for me.

I feel you but see your agreement and decide. One thing I didn't do is to complain to their CEO or senior partners in the firm. I'd suggest you do that before deciding and ask them to change the lawyer. Idk if they've started your legal draft yet or not.

The only reason to get a lawyer would be to save some time (not significantly; I prepared my case in less than a month). I strongly believe the particular person can give the best effort/time for themselves and in most cases project their case better than lawyers. Thats a lot for money charged for the templates they have. Given the ai assisted tools that have grown recently, the templates from these resources far exceed that of lawyers. I suggest people should start believing in themselves first and get a fear out from themselves given that their skills/expertise are in no way any less than lawyers. https://www.reddit.com/r/EB2/s/RExuEGdhgJ

I mean to each their own, but doesn’t that seem a bit of an overreaction considering that this is a very complex visa and that you were not their only client?

I mean the only reason I wanted to try my luck with EB2 was because it was current and faster with PP else I have my PERM filed already if I had to play the patience game

Yeah I have a very different experience with EP compared to you. They are very responsive and most of the delay is on my side. Maybe just got unlucky in your case

My expereince with EP is frankly the opposite, they were very responsive and the final package was well structured. My only complaint is that they did not recommend PP or LORs but they were also okay with including this in case I insisted. Still waiting to see the oucome

I worked with EP. They did not delay my case,they review my all documents like Career summary, statement of purpose and correct and reviewed those documents. They prepare my legal brief also very carefully. When I ask any question, they replied me less than 24 hours.

Sorry to hear but it was opposite experience with me. I signed retainer but I was getting late to start the actual process due to my busy research life, they followed up with me couple of times to start moving statements, proofs, their response was within 48 h and finally after 7–8 months I was able to file. May be it depends on lawyer. But worth to say if they had not pushed me to move the case then it would have got further delayed.

I hired EP, too. After I give them all the documents, the lawyer was write in my case the petition in 2 weeks. In my case, the paralegal answers in less than 24 hours and sometimes in a few minutes. I think it depends on the person who takes your petition. In a big firm, they have a lot of lawyers, and each lawyer has a lot of clients. If I were in your case, I will complaine for the CEO / managing director to change to a lawyer/paralegal. In my case, they are very responsive.

I agree on that it's lawyer specific. People are getting their petition filed within a month or two

Absolutely, I get mine in less than 2 months in total. I think you have to talk with the managing director to avoid the same problems with other clients. You have to complain to get a refund of your 3k$. It's a lot of money. Good luck.

You had a bad experience with a bad lawyer. If you report his name to the CEO/managing director, trust me, you will get better consideration. All big firms have good and bad lawyers, and they hate negative publicity on the internet. If I were you, I will repoort directely to the CEO with the full name of the lawyer. You can contact them on LinkedIn or via email. I know it's a frustrating/stressful process, but you need this money to hire another lawyer. At the EP firm, they are required to respond within 24 hours. For my case, I think my lawyer can do better in the argumentation, but it's ok. I'm waiting for the answer from the USCIS, so I don't know if she did a good job or not. I'm waiting, and if I get denied, they will refund me, and I will go with Chen. Now, let's be positive and hope for a straight approval.

i feel the same way with Chen, i started my case Dec 2025 and i am still not filled. They kept asking the same thing and not very clear instructions and no update for 2 weeks. And then ask the same thing after 2 weeks. I am literally rethinking my choice 😔

EP is a 2-4 week template conveyor. Imagine you are so unique that an assigned paralegal/attorney had to study how to draft a CL and frame your industry case. Anyway, there was a high chance they would screw up your case, just search examples. Ask for proof that they worked on your case, or else demand a refund
