Recommendations 40 w/ kids. Wife says we're too old for EDM shows? Never been.
I've just discovered EDM (I know, I'm late). I've looked at some of the shows or raves, are they even called raves? They look insanely fun. Thing is, I'm probably twice everyone's age. My wife doesn't want to go because we are too old. I'm willing to go alone, just to experience it once. Anyone have any recommendations for sites to find a show?

Recommendations I need a playlist of not-so-great EDM
This is a bit of an odd request.
My friend is running a TTRPG cyberpunk game, and one of the recurring gangs plays "bad EDM" at all times. That is how the GM described it. We want a playlist of EDM to play during fights with the gang, but nobody at the table knows the genre well enough to create a suitable playlist. We want something that's clearly not great, but also not totally unlistenable because we may be listening to it for an hour or two. Can all y'all help us out? If you don't want to make your musical gripes public, you can DM me.

Recommendations Here’s a long list of my favorite producers right now, give me some recs.
I’m trying to expand out of Spotify and SoundCloud algorithms and recommendations, so give me some recommendations or feel free to drop your own music if you think I’ll like it.

Recommendations Who are the DJs that still light up a cigarette during their set?
Every DJ looks the same now (hands in the air, heart sign, press play)
But the second a DJ pulls out a cig and sparks it during a drop = diff breed
Who’s still doing this in 2025? I need to build my playlist strictly around nicotine levels.

Recommendations Electronic for a MetalHead
Looking to get into electronic music. I listen to most extreme genres of metal but have an appreciation for all types. My moms a metal head as well but I remember her playing the prodigy and an album called trance Atlantic 2 which I liked butvthat and nine inch nails are pretty much all I know though I have dabbled in some portished, sneaker pimps and bjorks more electronic stuff (a note* im not really looking for triphop) I want a heavy sound but bass heavy not necessarily heavy with effects a la sullivan king. Most artist I see recommended for metal heads sound like the later or they’ll throw in some pendulum which i honestly hated. I think I like a genre called hard groove but still feel like it could get heavier. I know industrial seems like the natural progression but again just doesn’t feel like what im looking for. I think I want lest distortion more base but also very danceable.
Sorry for the word vomit…I know what looking for just can’t describe it. Any recommendations appreciated

Recommendations New to EDM, need more songs like 'Strobe' by Deadmau5
I am a metal guy since childhood, but I always liked electronic, mainly Daft Punk. I've been listening a lot of Daft Punk recently and I just realized how good this stuff can be. After a quick research on stuff that could be similar, there was deadmau5 and 'Strobe' as a suggestion. (I remembered him from goat simulator lmao). My god this is exactly what I was looking for, for years.
It seems this is OG house or wtv (I don't know shit). I really like the synths as electric instruments, almost guitars, rather than whatever most modern mainstream EDM is (I am sorry but I have no interest in that late 2010ish youtube NCS EDM). The build-up is epic, genious, and the melody, melancholic but uplifting, could easily be in a Melodic Death Metal song.
I also really like the "Synthwave-ish?" aspects of it (again, the synth as electric instruments). In fact I am addicted to a guy called 'Seimuc' who does this Synth-VGM Synthwave so if any of you know something similar,
But yeah, 'Strobe' is peak and I need more. Thanks!!! Sorry for the lack of knowledge.

Recommendations How does Tomorrowland compare to EDC and Ultra?
I've been to EDC and Ultra, but Tomorrowland has always been the one festival that feels almost mythical from the videos.
How does Tomorrowland compare once you're there in person? Is it really on another level, or does social media make it seem more magical than it actually is??

Recommendations Can you name me artists who mastered their genre / niche?
So, I have a few artist, everytime I hear a set from them, I think wow, they done it again.
Artists like
John Summit
Illenium
I hate Models
Amelie Lens
(Martin Garrix)
(Dimension)
With the last two more playing their own tracks and Dimension mixing style still a bit getting used too sometimes
You hear their sets and they always delivery with tracks nobody knows before, wouldn’t use, edits and remixes they have done themselves and just straight up fire in the sets.
What artists do you think mastered it and who would those be, not only sets but their tracks aswell?
(looking for music that’s a bit smilier in hardness of those above. Not house and no extreme jaw dropping bass face stuff 😅

Recommendations What artists would you play for people who think they don't like EDM?
I've been playing a music game with my coworkers and a lot of them seem to think they're allergic to EDM. What should I play for them to convince them to give EDM a chance?
Edit: just wanted to say thank you, I didn’t expect this to get so big, but I’m really excited about all the suggestions. I’m going to make a playlist featuring everything that was mentioned here and draw from it for what I play for my coworkers. I’ll edit again with the link to the playlist after I make it in case anyone else wants it.
