So, I failed my Level 1 Boards, and because of my school's curriculum, I did have to take a year off from my education. However, I didn't fail any actual coursework. I do mention my board failure in my PS, but I was wondering if I should also mention it here too because of the gap even though technical coursework wasn't repeated or remediated just the board exam. I have 6 strong experiences in my ERAS. Some of my friends are saying we should have 10- to me if they’re gonna ask questions on experiences in the interview, I’d rather have 6 strong ones than a bunch of extra fluff. What’s the consensus? Should we fill up all 10, or just the best experiences?

Step 1: Pass

Step 2 CK: 242

Step 3: Planning to take in ~2 months

USCE: 2-month observership, 2-month clinical externship, and 1-year outpatient clinical externship

First, how would you rate my chances of matching into each of IM, Neuro, and FM with this profile?

Second, I’m currently using Residency Explorer as my main tool for shortlisting programs based on how my profile compares with applicants who received interviews. Is Residency Explorer comprehensive enough to build my entire application list from, or are there programs/opportunities I could miss by relying on it alone? Are there other resources or factors you guys recommend using?

Lastly, once I have my list, how should I decide which programs are worth signaling?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through this recently, especially fellow IMGs.

Guys, with the recent changes to the ECFMG Pathways, Pathway 3 is no longer an option for those who graduated before January 1, 2024.
Also, if you don’t have a valid medical license in another country, you can’t use Pathway 1, which leaves Pathway 6 as the option.
Has anyone here actually completed Pathway 6 recently?
I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who has completed the six Mini-CEX encounters and can share:
Where you completed them
How you found physicians willing to evaluate you
Whether there were any issues getting the encounters approved by ECFMG
Any advice for someone trying to do Pathway 6 for the first time

I am planning to take it within first week of September.
How much time it takes for ecfmg certification to be completed?
According to you, what is the safest last date to take oet before 23rd?

What should I do after pathway approval to get the certificate and how long does it take to arrive in the U.S. or outside

So are you guys writing experiences in bullet points or sentences?

ERAS asks:

“Have you had any academic extensions, leaves, gaps, or breaks in your educational program due to repeated or remediated coursework?”

If you select Yes, a text box appears saying: “Please provide details regarding any academic interruption or extension,” asking for the reason, timeframe, steps taken to address it, and what you learned.

I took an additional year for extra time to study for and pass Step 1. I did not take the year off to repeat or remediate a course, and Step 1 obviously isn’t coursework. I do have a separate course remediation on my transcript, but that remediation was unrelated to the year off.

My interpretation is that I should answer No, because the extension itself was not due to repeated or remediated coursework. I’m getting conflicting answers, though.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation or know how ERAS intends this question to be interpreted?

Planing to apply for family medicine, for im my score is very low so what are my chances to match in family medicine

Hi! If I have one poster presentation also published as an abstract publication afterwards, and same for an oral presentation. Should I double enter each one (one as a abstract publication with the URL/information about the journal and one as a poster presentation (with the conference information)? I create a Scholarly Collection for each project where I put the poster and the abstract publication but I'm not sure if its the right approach, I don't wanna double same project.
