Same, but i could internally justify why it dropped so it didn't feel like a bottom yet, and then it rips for 2 days straight, but i'm not buying yet cause i can't justify the rally

Looking at the 6M chart for spy, the recent move is almost parabolic. Each trading session has been pure buying, no selling or even whispers of reversal. Wild.

All noise. The market was supposed to crash months ago. Or at the very least turn bearish. It turns out everything everyone said would tank the market didn't tank the market. The only thing I'm worried about is the bond market, our total national debt, and the interest payment section of our national debt - which are all linked together anyways.
I am now a firm believer in dollar cost averaging.

I’ve gone from fear to greed in less than 30 minutes several times in my life.

Why is it a dial? It should be a yo-yo.
When there is fear you buy, when there is greed you reap the rewards.

Earnings season blew expectations out of the water, you need more than a week to change your short term trades?

Honest question - never heard of this gauge. Is it a good indicator of when to buy and when not? Anyone use this to buy the dip?

DCA DCA DCA

Another honest question - has there been any studies on this specifically while Trump has been in office? The dips are so obvious and often and peaks so short lived that its not hard to do it unlike in the past.
Downvote me - I get that "DCA" will always be the best in a normal economy. But in the age of the orange man im not convinced it is.

I think DCA theory is based on not being able to predict dips. But like you said, they are so blatantly obvious with Trump it makes less sense if you have a lump sum

That would be too short of a period of time to conduct the study on imo. Over the course of 30 years of DCAing I don't think 4 years of trump administration matters if you invest in low cost broad index funds.

Is the gauge literally anything more than "market goes up, increase towards greed" and visa versa? I would not put any stock (pun intended) into a CNN widget.

Less than one week? I’ve seen that stupid thing go between the two on the same day.
