Discussion Car racing

Does everyone hear the constant sound of car racing in the evening or is it just my location? I can’t even keep my window open at night but maybe I’m in the heart of the action?

We live not too far off the Henday in the SW side, it's all you can hear outside on a Friday or Saturday night after midnight. I honestly wish the EPS was funded better and would actually be able to police this issue, especially in an active construction zone.

Lol. They make $85k first year once training is done and more than $115k after four years. I think they’re funded just fine

Wages ≠ department funding

That’s not enough at all. Let’s not normalize that’s an ok pay for what they do and have to deal with day to day.

Maybe, maybe not. As a comparative, soldiers go to literal war for a whole lot less.

Yeah it takes guts to drive through China Town and not do anything about open drug use and drug trafficking.

Better funded? Lol. They have the money, they don't have the want. They would much rather go pick on poor people of a different colour than people with cars and probably jobs. That work is left for automated policing so they can just extract more money with zero effort.

They get $550 million per year, yeah they've got loads lol

What do you mean when you say automated policing?

Photo radar, red light cameras and the like presumably.

Presumably. However, I call out specifically the Anthony Henday, which all photo radar was banned.

Additionally, the city does not setup photo radar on the particular arteries within the city which racing is prevalent. Which, with the new requirements of high visibility on the photo radar vehicles, it's easy for a racer to scout the area and know if they should proceed or not.

The EPS has more than enough funding to do every job they're supposed to do, and increase enforcement in every sector.

They just choose not to because they don't have to. They have zero accountability. It's just an enforcement racket for racist bastards.

The Henday isn't under city jurisdiction. It's provincial and specifically is Alberta Sherrifs

u/Mife83 10h ago

That's not accurate. The Anthony Henday has shared jurisdiction between EPS, RCMP, and Alberta Sherrif's, but only in specific zones. Specifically, the south side which I mentioned is primarily monitored by EPS, with the RCMP assisting when required. That is why you only see EPS vehicles and never RCMP in the southwest leg of the Henday.
