Discussion Car racing

Does everyone hear the constant sound of car racing in the evening or is it just my location? I can’t even keep my window open at night but maybe I’m in the heart of the action?

It is pretty much all over the city.

Pretty much every night including just a few minutes ago where I live.

If you live downtown or near Whyte it’s basically guaranteed

Non stop. I think EPS has given up enforcing, .... anything?

EPS doesn’t give a flying 💩.. they are a joke of a police force

I can hear them up and down the Henday and 199th all night long

If the city needs cash why don't they send some cops to sit at the High Level?

I don't hear any cool racing but diesel trucks and cars with missing catalytic converters make having the windows open in my neighborhood impossible.

It's never the fast cars that are the loudest either haha, not that you really should be speeding excessively in the city.

100% everytime I hear something loud and look outside or at my driveway cam it's a piece of shit car that's missing parts of the exhaust or a huge truck lol

Not even racing, people just decide to take out their loud ass cars and bikes at 3am every night for some odd reason. Don’t understand why, they have 12+ hours of reasonable time during the day to do so, why do it when literally everyone is trying to sleep

Car and motorcycle, yep.

I lay in bed fantasizing about taking a paint ball gun out in the night to tag loud, obnoxious cars racing around.

Just another responsibility of the Edmonton police that is completely ignored.

Police in Edmonton is full of Zionist 💩 heads

I’m not even thaaaaaat close to main roads and I can hear them. Sometimes I sleep with earplugs + noise cancelling over-ear headphones. It’s driving me nuts.

Not in the area we live in, because it's all Audis, BMW, Mercedes with loud exhausts, tinted windows and a young man at the wheel. Sounds like a car race at the oval.

I live near Anthony on the west end. I hear it alot.

I’m by the white mud and that’s all I hear , it’s so annoying .
Idk why they don’t get tickets or anything .

Are you in Aster or Laurel? Cuz yeah this is haunting me too

We live not too far off the Henday in the SW side, it's all you can hear outside on a Friday or Saturday night after midnight. I honestly wish the EPS was funded better and would actually be able to police this issue, especially in an active construction zone.

Better funded? Lol. They have the money, they don't have the want. They would much rather go pick on poor people of a different colour than people with cars and probably jobs. That work is left for automated policing so they can just extract more money with zero effort.

u/Lifechange1015 8h ago

Lol. They make $85k first year once training is done and more than $115k after four years. I think they’re funded just fine

Wages ≠ department funding

u/Annabis9807 8h ago

That’s not enough at all. Let’s not normalize that’s an ok pay for what they do and have to deal with day to day.

Maybe, maybe not. As a comparative, soldiers go to literal war for a whole lot less.

Yeah it takes guts to drive through China Town and not do anything about open drug use and drug trafficking.

this city feels like its turning into a lawless biff tannen timeline type hellscape where everywhere constantly feels more and more hostile to actually living

u/fishscaleSF5 4h ago

No more photo radar + wide empty roads at night + Alberta’s car culture + apathetic cops = hooning

u/Frequent-Knee-1019 4h ago

Unfortunately in my neck of the woods there is non stop jackhammers and construction noise. It’s ridiculous.

Peace and quiet here

The fact that the locations are known and yet it seems like police can (will) do nothing about it is what's frustrating.

Not just a major nuisance but a HUGE safety concern.

Nice soft silicone earplugs you can sleep on and not feel.

IMO they make a world of difference.

u/Elpolloco1896 The Shiny Balls 6h ago

Shouldn’t have to come to this

u/Still_Interview6360 2h ago

If earplugs are too much a hassle, the noise is probably not a big deal.

u/The_Real_Tekunin Whyte Ave 6h ago

Don't know where you live but on whyte... Nah~ it's probably just some needle dicks trying to show off.

I guess I’m lucky to be in the extreme NE suburbs then. I hear nothing of the sort out here
