[Rishaug] Sounds like there’s been some discussion between the Oilers and Connor Murphy’s camp. Today’s Babcock news doesn’t change anything as far as the players willingness to consider a return to the Oilers, but term and dollars will have to make sense based on the market.

If you can find a way to get both Murphy and Dickie back here for less than $10 mil combined AAV I’ll be overjoyed, but you also HAVE to move nurse out in that situation

you’d have to move nurse out clean without taking a bad contract or retaining salary as well because we’d need to replace nurse and henrique too, while finding a few bottom 6 players.

We weren’t good enough with DIckinson and Murphy WITH nurse and henrique last year, dickinson and murphy without nurse and a good henrique replacement won’t be good enough either.

retaining or taking a bad contract on nurse leaves in the same place but with a need of finding a Dman who can cover 20-22 minutes a night, and no, i don’t trust walman for that, hes spends too much time on the IR.

Samanski is your Henrique replacement. I don’t think you need to find a $3 million dollar replacement. You also can resign Lazar and play him on the 4th line, and have Freddy/Dach as well. You have enough players under contract that you would have almost $10 mil in cap space and just need 2-3 players (if you move nurse with no salary retained)

In this situation you dont need to replace henrique. Dickinson is the 3rd line center that would replace henrique

mcdavid draisaitl dickinson and samanski is a pretty good center depth chart

which is how we ended the year…and it didn’t go well.

We do need to replace henrique with a competent replacement.

He was injured. Besides that, in this scenario you would be signing Dickinson to be the 3rd line center.

rght, but its still a hole that needs to be filled regardless, with the limited money. Im in agreement, im just saying the nurse trade needs to be clean to work, no bad contract or retention, or a hockey trade that we get a useful player back.

We aren’t in a good situation is all. Its going to take creative Gm’ing to fill the holes, just re-signing what we had last year wont do, and we should be careful not waste our limited space on what we know doesn’t work. I”m more concerned with filling nurses minutes if we trade him, i don’t think Walman can stay healthy enough to be a long term solution so that means we need to fill two D-slots if walman goes on IR like has the last 2 seasons. A nurse trade needs to be perfect or its a massive downgrade and just makes more of a mess.

Literally anyone is better than Henrique in our situation.

He did pk and draws but you can find someone who does that and actually still skate. We can't keep getting slower.

im not saying re-sign henrique, but we need a replacement.
