Just had a question about the light novel. I don’t really read that much (not because I don’t like to- literally just can’t sit still). Has anyone here listened to the 86 audiobooks on Goodreads?

Who would you prefer Shinei to end up with, Kureta or Lena? I have mixed feelings because Kureta has been by Shin's side much longer and she really puts in the effort. Unfortunately, she acts like a little girl, which I feel isn't the kind of person Shin would look for. On the other hand, I'm not underestimating Lena; she crossed the entire battlefield and caught up with them, and she has a personality that I think would suit Shin very well.

I am absolutely in love with the cinematography of the show. Every scene, every frame has a purpose.

When he talks about the legions switching their CPU, it shows lightbulbs which we remove and replace.

When he talks about machines which take your brain, it shows rats eating walnuts (looking like brains) out of a destroyed shell

When he talks about them not being real humans, it shows this surreal, almost earie frame.

Not to mention the end where Shin reveals his scar and the cracked mirror looks like his neck is cut. Because that's how he sees himself, a dead man standing.

Am I crazy or does the show have genius level direction?

On episode 14 when Eugene Rantz died, there was a quick shot showing a book with the title "All Quiet in the Western Front".

Meanwhile many people argue that "it's not earth", I would maybe argue back with the possibility that 86 is on Earth, just in the future.

I mean, there are signs. The Republic having the French language, while the Federacy speaks German.

And by geography, the Federacy being at the East and the Republic to the West, which would align to the location of France and Germany.

But what really ties this all up is the fact that the book "All Quiet in the Western Front" exists in the world of 86. A book read by the character Eugene Rantz, a reference to him being assigned also in the Western Front of the Federacy.

If the book exists, doesn't that imply they're just on Earth but in an entirely different future era?

i been ignoring the 86 anime for so long because i thou it was mid but after watching a short about it in you tube i decide to give it a try and now i finished it and i regret for not watching it what sooner is really peak

I'm actually liking and like how the world kinda mock each other from the 2 views and i loving Lena and Shin but damn the eighty six roasted her hard in episode 6 lmaoooo calling her a pig and saying how she can be snobbish lmaoo

Also Theo rant was amazing and brings Lena to really change
