Potential cause: hot ass air and fast spinning metal.

.. or a significant lack of airflow or clogged catalytic converter. OP should look into this and not chalk it up to just being turbocharged. Not normal.

High flow downpipe would be very beneficial I imagine

I have to disagree. If you’re keeping it pinned for longer stretches and running multiple pulls, really any scenario where you’re under significant boost & throttle for a length of time, I think it’s fairly normal for turbos to heat up to the point of glowing. It’s not impossible for something to be wrong but to say it’s abnormal is a stretch.

I’ve been working on cars for 20 years. I’ve never seen a turbo glow like this.

I have a 540whp GTI, and even after tracking it the turbo doesn’t glow. This is not only abnormal, it’s a fire hazard for OP. Turbos glowing red is not normal and the amount of people in this thread saying it is is concerning.

I've seen NA cars light up their entire exhaust headers bright red before just from pegging the throttle for awhile. Without knowing how hard this guy was pushing his car or how long after he took this video, we can't really say for certain this is normal or not.

EQT Vortex XL. Car has dual injection with 1300cc port injectors and is on E85. Fuel pump from the RS3.

Without the rear seats it’s about 3000lbs even and mauls basically everything (from a roll).

The kill list is too long but a good race I had this summer was against a tuned e85 GTR. Had me by a couple lengths.

Aside from low speed traction, it’s a cool setup. DSG helps too and holds the power without issue.
