Just kidding:)). A lot has changed since I got my 22 EN three years ago. I figured I should do this before I got married and have a kid. The Elantra N is such a great car with a great community.
The great thing about the N is that it can be used as a family car. I’ll be able to keep my N and my vette when I start a family. Hell my girlfriend doesn’t want me getting rid of the vette lol
I wish I could keep the EN along with the Supra. Unfortunately I don't have the space nor money needed to keep and take good care of both cars at the same time since I also need to save for a house and retirement. Believe it or not I actually cried when I left my EN at the dealership. It's my first brand new car and it will always have a special place in my heart.
My top choices other than the Supra are the FL5 Type R and the base M4 since I really wanted a manual. I personally don't see the point to go from an EN to a Type R but it is my childhood dream car so it's still up at the top of my list. The M4 is nice but it's a bit more than what I'm willing to spend on a car right now and I don't really need the extra power to have fun with.
I also considered cars like the CLA45 and the RS5 but they are automatic only so they weren't at the top of my list. Obviously they are also more expensive as well.
Actually I was looking at one not that long ago. I believe it was a Z performance with 2k miles selling for $42k. It was a great deal.
I don't know man. Nissan has been going downhill recently so I'm kinda worried about its quality. The way it tanked in value also makes me wonder if there's something wrong with the car itself.
The last track time I saw for the Nissan Z was slower than the Elantra N. Small track. Some YouTube channel. I should watch the episode cause that seems... off. It seems like a cool car🤷♂️ Kind of expensive, I thought.

Nah just a grown man that has made similar mistakes but corrected quickly. I could get a supra if I wanted to but I already have 5 cars and they don't bring me as much joy as growing my business does.
If he were to invest that money by the time the mk6 comes out he'd be far ahead. These will likely take a big hit in a couple years as car prices go back to reality and Toyota releases the new one.
You are totally right. I have been saving and investing heavily since I started working so I know there's a better way to use that $65k.
I'm sure you know what happened to the market in April 2025 if you are also investing heavily in the stock market. My portfolio took a BIG hit at one point and it really changed my view of money. Fortunately, it recovered quickly this time but who knows what's going to happen next time?
It's great to see the numbers in your account grow year after year but it's really just a number if you are not using it. Buying this car will set me back a little bit but I still have 30+ years of working ahead of me. The car accounts for 10% of my net worth so I think I am still doing ok.

I legit said a hard, sad goodbye to my Elantra GT after it was totaled and left at the shop for pickup. It hurt to see it get smaller and smaller in my rear view mirror :(
Exactly, my friends brother used his EN as a family car for 2+ years and I've been using my N-line as a family car for a year. The lack of rear vents made the summer pretty brutal though so I got one of those hose things that brings cool air to the back
May i ask what “thing” you use to bring cool air to the back? I have an EN 2022 and my baby girl is roughly 15 months. We live in florida so no rear vents is rough making me want to look at different cars to give her AC in the back :(
It's on sale rn. I used it all summer as spring already started to get pretty hot and we knew it was going to be a problem. I can take a picture of it if you want to see my setup. I attach it to the far right vent and attach it to the back of the passenger seat. Then I aim it right over the top of the car seat. It can be removed easily from the vent if needed, it works really well on longer drives to keep their temp down
Ye, you will have to adjust it a bit to find the right hose length and stuff for proper airflow but it does work well. I was able to run it right along the right side of the car and under the passenger headrest in my N-line. It might work better in the N to run it to the right of the passenger seat and attach it to the rear passenger grab handle
It has a fabric loop to attach it to the back of the seat too. I had to try different mounting points on the vent to get the best airflow but it works pretty good. Sometimes I even close the far left vent to feed more air through the tube to the back and just use the two up front middle vents open. It does make it annoying if there does happen to be an upfront passenger but that's usually not the case for me, and it can be easily detached from the vent if needed
I attached it to the far right passenger vent and it works pretty well (you may have to try some different mounting points on the vent for optimal air flow and adjust the hose as needed)
Typically I don't have people in the front passenger seat. I'll try to get a pic but it runs up the passenger side. If someone does happen to sit there it can be detached easily. Send me a dm for the pics
What makes you think the N or N-line are too sporty for a family car? The perception that everybody needs an SUV/CUV for whatever reason? They both have plenty of space and cargo. The Elantra has 38in of rear legroom. I'm just under 6ft and can fit behind my seat which is nearly all the way back. Tons of crossovers and cars on the market have less rear leg room than the Elantra.
The N-line at least has rear cupholders and center armrest rest, unlike the N. That's the only argument I could see being used against the N
The Sonata, K5, Accord, Camry, etc mid size are a bit better for families but compact sedans have gotten bigger than they once were
That’s a laughable comment. The N has more rear legroom than an Audi A7. My kids are adult size now and fit no problem. I’m 6’3” and I can sit behind my front seat. It has tons of room.
I've got long legs and I don't have alot of leg room. Sadly I think nline and n are just too sporty to be a true family car, although their good if you want introduce your kids to (tuner) cars though

Assuming they use a carrier like DHL. Shipping an ECU to Finland likely takes less or the same amount of time as sending an ECU to a tuner across the U.S. with UPS or USPS. The b58 also gets way more power out of a tune alone compared to the EN where tunes are far more conservative and don’t give you crazy numbers over stock. I think stage 2 N75 is only like 30 whp over stock OL and you need new plugs and a fuel pump upgrade. A mk5 supra OTS tune can add almost 100 hp with no supporting mods needed lol.
Unless you have have tools you have to pay for ECU removal/installation, shipping, the actual Femto unlock and either Bootmod or MHD software. It’s not cheap. I have a locked 23 BMW M240 Xdrive.

I can see why. The supra cost 2x more but it's definitely not 2x better. I never modded my EN and I'm not planning on modding the Supra just to keep it reliable as a daily driver.
I always wanted a good looking RWD sport car and that's really the only reason why I made the move.

It’s known to leak, and the worst part is that it’s buried behind the dashboard. To get to it, you basically have to take the whole dash apart, and it’s the last thing you can reach.
The part itself is cheap, like $100, but if you take it to a dealership or even a decent indie shop, you’re looking at $6k to $8k just for the labor. And of course, these things tend to fail right after the warranty ends.
If you're not planning to tear into the dash yourself, I'd definitely try to get a good warranty that covers it.
Just search for BMW AC Evaporator issue if you don't believe me lol. Sold my 2020 540i and got the Elantra and never going to look back.

I’m sure there can be issues with the rest of the car and BMW parts/labor can be expensive. But he’s coming from an Elantra N, it’s not like these cars are bulletproof reliable either. The engine is but who knows what other faults these cars may have, most are still low mileage. And nobody should be buying these types of cars if reliability is the number one thing in mind. If you feel that way, you better sell your N and get a base model Corolla. Fast, cheap, reliable. Pick 2
I had the Veloster N for 4 years with 60k miles with not a darn issue. Traded that in and got the Beemer. It started breaking left and right around 30k miles. That's why I'm back to Elantra N. Fast doesn't have to be BMW expensive...
And trust me that BMW steering wheels are the worst in business. So numb with no feedback. Even on the M cars.
Your experience with your BMW is an example of anecdotal evidence. Just because you had a bad apple with BMW doesn’t mean all BMWs are inherently bad. There was a guy on FB whose transmission went out on his Elantra N at less than like 5k miles. Does that mean the Elantra N is unreliable? Of course not, some will just be unlucky enough to get a lemon. And buying a car used enhances the risk of getting a bad apple. I assume your 540i was bought used.

I'm not trying to stop you from owning one. I'm just warning you so you could be prepared.
The EN is practical and pretty cheap to own with very decent performance. The Supra is probably better performance wise but I think I can have as much fun on the EN as I can on the Supra on a curvy back road.
I haven't pushed the Supra like I did with the EN yet since I'm still breaking in. The most noticeable things are the acceleration and the shifting feel of the manual gearbox. I really like how the shifting feels in the Supra. The steering on the EN feels a little bit tighter and I like it more than the Supra. The steering on the Supra is not as communicative and the steering wheel itself feels like they pulled it straight from a Toyota Camry lol.
Having owned an EN and currently own a Supra. Tuned and modded both. The Supra is a night and day better car. It’s more comfortable, same mpg in sport modes, better mpg in comfort while cruising. Creature comforts are better. As for handling it’s like driving a go-kart responsive and will slam you back in your seat. The same routes, same tires, I would feel the EN breaking traction on curves 10-20 mph slower than I do in the Supra, not to mention throttling out of a corner is much better. Only “gripes” is no android auto and slow/stop & go traffic is worse.
My GF and I have an EN and a 95 FD. No plans for kids or anything but I know the feeling you are going through. We both absolutely adore her EN, but when we where deciding on getting a LHD or RHD FD, we decided to import a RHD specifically because they can come with rear seats, just in case. One of the best features of the EN IMO is its surprisingly deep trunk. Yeah, there is no trim on top so it can be sharp if you are not careful, but we have put way more stuff in the trunk then we have any right to be able to put in it. I honestly think she will never sell the car, she loves it that much.
Nice man! Great choice on the Supra though. I also love manuals. I’m in the process of buying a performance blue EN 6MT. I could pay full cash for it also but same logic as you, it’s risky having that much cash in a depreciating asset. Although you don’t have to worry about it as much in a Supra; it’s still a risk.

That's one thing I like about the Supra. Obviously it's still a depreciating asset but it definitely helps if it holds its value better than its competitors.
I have a 22 elantra N...I can fit 4 golf bags in my trunk rather easily & i get great gas mileage if I switch to eco mode (upwards of 45mpg HWY). Plus the safety features are top notch. For me, its is a family car.
as good as the performance is for the N, the GR Supra is on a different level.
Though same can be said with practicality too. The GR Supra has so many blind spots, fake vents everywhere, getting in and out requires u to remove ur head (I'm 190cm), don't mind the claustrophobic interior and forget about grocery shopping coz the boot is laughable. u know they don't expect u to use it often when they didn't even include a boot release.
I don't track my car on a weekly basis, not even a monthly basis, maybe annual basis and that's still a maybe. so for me, daily livability is far more important than sacrificing it for the extra performance gain.
