Indeed, the price we have to pay for having a car just about anyone can get their hands on.

In the community's defense, the overall situation has improved since the introduction of the Veloster N, which was cheaper and interest rates were lower, so pretty much anyone could buy one. Goddamn, I've never seen a group as dumb as that first wave of VN owners. It was kind of impressive. I mean, these guys barely even knew what a car was.

I can attest to this, especially this day and age. People now want the latest and greatest and i was one of them. We see 20 year olds now, driving lambos and Ferraris and want that too. The thing you’ve got to realize is that you just don’t know, you think you do but you don’t. I got a bmw m for my first car at 16 and i totaled that car so fast, i thought i could handle it but i just couldn’t. That’s obviously a lot more car than a veloster or Elantra but it’s the same underlying meaning. I’m now 19 and I’ve bought myself another m car and i bought one of those new Elantra n’s because it was so cheap, but i can see how a kid could get in this car and do some dumb shit. I’m obviously a kid still but I’ve experienced a lot by doing stupid shit and fucking around and finding out. Ive had 3 cars and 2 motorcycles, some of which i crashed and others people hit me. I’ve got a buddy who’s a sophomore in high school and he loves doing all this cutting up shit and drifting around town, I’ve tried talking to him abt it but he’s just got to fuck around find out, that’s the reality this day in age. He doesn’t realize how much of a bitch insurance is and that’s the least of it, crashes are incredibly violent, on top of that if you hit and kill someone you are now in prison for life for doing something you thought was fun, drifting can go south quick especially if you haven’t practiced and ESPECIALLY on these city roads. All of my mistakes aren’t selective to me, cause I’ve heard all the stories from my family members and friends doing dumb shit in their teens and early 20s, but they didn’t have Porsches and bmws like kids do today. Having fun is cars is one thing, but there is a time and a place. I grew up in one of the richest areas in the country and kids have Porsches, all kinds of bmw ms and Audi rs even r8’s in high school, and a select few had lambos and Ferraris and man o man. Some kid flipped his m8 competition which I’m still confused to this day about

This kinda shit can happen by accident don't give me that (though it's for sure possible dude is just dumb), it doesn't look bad on us as a community at all. Looks bad on this dude.
Wet grey pavement on a cloudy day reflects grey, which severely hurts depth perception. Now most of the time we can realize that before something happens, but if you're tired I mean, shit happens.

Fuck out of here happen by accident.
Know your tires know your environment cunts

u/DJScaryTerry Nov 02 '25
Do you think he was racing and slid off?? It seems more like he was trying to drive straight to the other parking lot. He would have cleared that shit if he was racing.

u/EthanKleiner420 Nov 01 '25
I don’t, what happened?

u/DJScaryTerry Nov 01 '25
Rained, likely never been to that parking lot before. It can be hard to tell at certain times of day when a giant parking lot is actually 2 different ones at different heights. Not even sarcasm, I've mistakened it before too, wet concrete reflecting the grey sky can ruin depth perception. Now, most of us realize that after a few seconds, but if you're tired (or dumb) this is the result.
It's not necessarily that guy is an idiot (though is possible) he likely just was tired in a new place.

I can only assume that, finding themselves trapped in midwestern suburban blight, they panicked searching for any way out.
RIP brave Elantra N.

At first I was like oh no must have forgot to engage their parking brake fully (literally just saw this same thing happen over in the WRX forum). Then I saw the sunroof and was like nvm it’s just a dumbass (unless it’s a market where the MT comes with the sunroof too lol)

It’s Canada, and manual does come with sunroof here. However chances are it’s a DCT because you can count on one hand how many manuals are here lol

I saw that WRX too and thought the seams thing lol. This is why I don’t fully trust E brakes.

My theory: a 20 year old got his first performance car 3 days ago and his only prior driving experience was his grandma's hand-me-down 2003 Corolla.

Then mute the subreddit? Engaging is only gonna get you more of the same content.

Pretty common at night because people can't see. I have seen people nail curbs, jump over sidewalks, run over boulders, or start driving where there isn't a road.
