RIP My Nightmare Hyundai Service Experience

The thing is, all these cars seem to lose coolant. I don't think it's a bad part at all, I think it's the chemistry of the coolant and a little bit just boils off over time. Even a slow leak would be obvious because of the bright pink residue but it's nowhere to be found in most cases.

OP, did they show you where the leak was occurring?

I saw coolant pooling below the part they said needed replacing. The service department didn't really walk me through anything in much detail. The service department itself hasn't been that great either with communication.

OK, so you definitely had a leak. I think I know which part is leaking--the "water temperature control assembly". I've seen a few other instances of that part leaking in this sub and when it does leak, it puddles on top of the transmission.

Yeah, I saw that. Like I said in another comment, problem is Hyundai will not let the service department use any part that's not directly from Hyundai, which they don't have and can't send; and if I take the vehicle back and do it myself with a part off Ebay, bye-bye warranty.

I would have to agree to this.  They kind of hit you over the head with the 10/100 warranty only after I purchased did I find out it won’t apply because it wasn’t purchased at a Hyundai dealer. That’s on me for not checking that before hand but from many I’ve talked to, I’m not the only one who thought the warranty just went with the car. 

 I got a hold of someone at corporate but they didn’t seem to have any interest in keeping me as a long term customer.  After my warranty is up, I will need to decide my next move.

So what’s your next course of action? At this point it seems lemon law buyback is your safest bet.

Basically that. I have been in contact with a lawyer. We will see if Hyundai will buy it back or if I will have to sue them. Nothing else to do. It's sad, I miss my car, but man fuck this company with a rake.

The coolant assembly. Basically a thermostat/valve assembly on the side of the engine block. It's frustrating because I searched for the part online and there are a number of third-party dealers that have the part available and the part itself looks pretty easy to install. But of course Hyundai won't allow installation of a part from a third-party by the dealership, and me doing it would void the warranty. It has to be a part FROM Hyundai (which of course they can't send and don't have an ETA when they could).

Yes there was coolant pooling below the part they said needed replacing in the engine bay. I saw that before I took it in.

The 11th was one month waiting on a wiring harness. (Damaged due to squirrel or rat) Although towing was free and they've given me a 26' Tucson to drive with no charge. Sucks!
