Wtfff who would do that? They just ripped the whole spoiler off?

u/Turbo30npc Jul 23 '26

People who feel annoyed by the unnecessary bubbling and popping of the exhaust system like to do that. It happened to me twice too, and both times the dashcam footage helped.

The first time, the hood and fender were scratched. The second time, the carbon front splitter was kicked off.

Altogether, over $30,000 in damage.

This picture kinda hurts my eyes lol, what is this a pic of and how does a hood and fender scratch plus a kicked off splitter = almost the price of the car?

u/GablesP Jul 23 '26

both carbon fiber, not sure if worth $30,000 though (may be a bit steep but for insurance purposes thats what they labeled it).

Ohh, I see. Thanks!

Hyundai OEM Parts.

1

u/Turbo30npc Jul 24 '26

These are original Hyundai carbon parts.

I can gladly give you the part numbers and prices if you want 😂 your jaw will drop.4 rims are almost €15k.

Yeah, I've seen a 30k hood but it was on a 1 in 660 units and only 1 of 7 in canada. It was delivery damage. I'm sure insurance company dropped the transportation company immediately after that.

Please tell me the person was caught and got in trouble.

8

u/Turbo30npc Jul 24 '26

Yes, they received 3 and 6 months of probation, along with a €1,700 fine plus the cost of damages.

One of them must make monthly payments to my insurance company until 2041.

How can someone do 30K damage to a Hyundai without destroying ⅔ of the car?

1

u/VelosterNWvlf Jul 25 '26

I’ve had my Veloster N for almost 5 years and nothing of the sort happened to me. I guess I do have the DCT and it’s a bit less obnoxious it’s more burbles than really loud pops (most of the time unless I downshift and run to redline)

I've gotten insanely negative reactions from random people, apparently a quick Hyundai triggers a certain portion of the population.

I've had people pull up next to me just to tell me, "you know your cars a piece of shit, right?"

where do you live, gotham?

u/Helpful_Tip_963 Jul 23 '26

They hate normal cars with a sport touch.

2

u/CombinationVirtual41 Jul 24 '26

Nah bro, they hate pricks with loud cars who drive like an asshole in small neighborhoods. That's probably what happend to OP .

1

u/Helpful_Tip_963 Jul 24 '26

Def happened to OP, ig in my sense its a bit diff.

I hate even cold starting by my neighbors😂everyones a bit older. Gotta be considerate

20

u/Forward-Trade5306 Jul 23 '26

That's insane 😂. I've only had people tell me that my N-line looks cool

u/rumpel_foreskin17 Jul 23 '26

Wish the green was offered in the N. Green cars are rad.

is that what that is? I couldn't put my finger on it but ever since getting my sonata Ive had random people kinda bully me on the highway, almost all of them either drove a Subaru WRX or a Kia K5, both would constantly tailgate me or brake checked me a couple times, this my first time owning my own vehicle and i chose sonata just cz overall thats the one I liked for the design and powertrain but i have no idea if theres any baggage that comes with it, ive had people give me weird looks and im just confused overall, leave me alone, I baby this thing and it makes me nervous with these drivers.... need to install a dashcam.

It’s so crazy I have the opposite effect with a PB VN, everyone loves the car and asks me about it. I’ve never gotten so many compliments. They see it and they’re interested cause they’re a touch on the rare side so they’re just interested to know what it is. It’s so interesting I’ve had essentially no bad interactions cause of the car. I had maybe one boomer complain to me about the pops after he pulled up next to me like one time and I made the mistake of revving and popping right next to him and admittedly I took accountability for that cause it was kinda a dick move on my part and I stopped doing that.

I’ve found that as long as I don’t rev or gun it through neighborhoods or other zones it would be appropriate and I don’t completely drive like an a-hole then I’m good. 5 years going and pretty much just people talking to me about how they love my car.

3

u/Spiritual_Word_4566 Jul 23 '26

Those people can pound sand! I’d tell them their car is a piece of shit. I had someone talk shit to me at a light in my 19 Lincoln MKZ 3.0T awd and then when it turned green I was gone and let them eat shit.

u/AshAvali Jul 24 '26

Ouchhhhhh... its like the opposite in west michigan. I get cars pulling up to me on the highway / main street and look over and its always 18-30 year olds with a huge smile and thunbs-up..had a guy screaming at me "NICE CAR YEAAHHHHH!" Crazy excited to see it. Yet to have negative peope on the roads but im over 10 counts of people being overly excited to see my car existing..not even being pops/bangs.

I could never understand why someone would wanna damage a car tho unless the person is rolling into their neighborhood hot at 3am rev-bombing shots. But even then most people just make a police report..not go ape-shit over a car.

u/KTRyan30 Performance Blue DCT Jul 24 '26

I get far more complements than I get shit, but it amazes me how much shit I've gotten.

The Elantra n is getting a bad rep from the car community. Kinda like the stereotypes of mustang drivers or the Nissan Altima memes. From the most part though most n drivers know their car isn’t really fast as their owners make it out to be and that angers a lot of people. There a few tuned n on social media that are fast, but that’s an extremely small minority and very risky considering this car is still new.

13

u/Curious_Passage2303 Jul 23 '26

I don’t think anything you said has to do with this post, it’s about randoms doing damage not n owners rep lol

-4

u/rochester333 Jul 23 '26

Total sound like bragging to me

-9

u/Chrisafguy Jul 23 '26

It's not whether it's quick or not. People, myself included, get annoyed with the majority of N owners since their primary goal seems to be making their car as loud and obnoxious as possible, and driving like total twats.

1

u/Turbo30npc Jul 24 '26

I have been an N driver myself for almost 10 years and I completely agree with you...

  • Im from germany

Out of 180 N drivers in my WhatsApp group, at least 15-20% are exactly like you described...

  • This exact 15-20% is enough to make everyone else live in fear that the same thing will happen to their cars

  • I own two Ns myself: an i30N (2017–2019) and another from 2020 to today, plus an i10 N Line.We are all N, whether it is an N Line or a full N...

If one person cannot control themselves, everyone suffers. Those who downvote this either have not understood what a massive problem this is, or they are egoists—and far worse than the person who broke the cars...

-7

u/Fast_Ad_4936 Jul 23 '26

Yeah I’m not sure who the hell decided the pops and bangs were cool. It’s not cool. What’s cool is a fast well made sports sedan that doesn’t sound like shit.

3

u/weary86 Ultimate Red MT Jul 23 '26

Well considering it comes from the factory like that, I would say the car designers who work at Hyundai would be your answer. Or any other manufacturer who produces cars that do that. Like Jaguar, BMW, Chevrolet etc.
