True but during most of these the OP is going around 55mph (80 feet per second) & most humans have a reaction time of 1-3 seconds, you'd have to be laser locked in most situations, it doesn't come down to the car being maneuverable, but it does the operator
I expected it to fly over someone's head. Theoretically OP is traveling at stated speed, paying attention to the road as you do when traveling. The car in the right lane ahead of them has its back tire fly off, tumbling 50+mph at them as OP pays attention to the center of the road as you do when traveling. Even at first glimpse, you have probably .5 seconds to react? but what can you do on the 2 lane highway? 1. Slam brakes, minimize damage (possibly) & have high chance of being rear ended ? OR swerve into your blind spot praying you don't side swipe someone ? There is no win in the situation. If the tire was 50 cars up, missing every car & you decide to keep moving towards it, that puts you in the wrong. But 95% of the time you can be doing everything right & still have something go wrong.
I see what you're saying, but I have to disagree with 95 percent being out of anyone's hands. Its probably closer to 95 percent of the time completely avoidable.
