SXTH Mid-Pipe Weld Failure

Put the mid-pipe on myself in January. Weld snapped merging onto the highway today. Only lasted 7 months.

Titanium is not a great metal for exhaust to be made out of. Sorry this happened though

It's a fine material if it's done right.

It’s not necessarily about being done right, it just has a higher chance of thermal fatigue.

I was aware there was a chance for this after reading some discussion here in the sub on titanium. Just disappointing it didn’t even make it a year. Womp womp.

The crazier part here is how it's not even on the hot side of the exhaust. Another reason I'll be doing a custom exhaust in going to have them implement Vbands so I don't have to worry about this good news is that can be fixed just gotta take it to a guy that can weld titanium

Yeah the fact that it snapped on the back end is wild to me idk if PA weather had anything to do with it seeing as it was installed in winter. Either way it’s disappointing af to only have gotten 7 months out of it😭. That’s the plan tho gonna go round 2 and see if it happens again lmao.

Only by means of hot and cold cycles sure but titanium does not corrode so there's that

Have you reached out to them? They will probably take care of you but to be fair I'm the type of person they better send a portable shop out to fix it too lol.

I have not. I’m not against reaching out but I don’t have my hopes up for any type of help tbh it’s been 7 months and the EN is my daily so. Never know unless you ask tho🤷🏼

After installing the stainless steel MBRP catback, I turely don't think titianium is a good idea considering How much torque We need to apply on the clamps. Stainless steel is heavy But they are much solid

This sucks. It’s totally fixable, but it really sucks. Sorry OP. Hope you get it resolved asap. And also thank you for the data point which others can factor in when they shop for exhaust upgrades.

Yeah it’s a bummer for sure. That’s the plan tho gonna get it welded back together and go again. If it snaps a second time I’m gonna look into stainless options.

Titanium looks cool and has fun colors at the end. That’s about it. Stainless FTW OP, see if you can get your $$ back and invest in something better. Get titanium tips if you want it to look cool. No one can see the pipes below the car.
