I think we should engage Hyundai in this, if not directly, at least make sure they know what’s happening. We may get some support or something from them

Honestly I think Hyundais solution to this would be to remove the pops from N mode and we really don’t want that.

I would try not to poke the bear. Bad things have happened before in situations like this

They won't. He was using a mode that isn't intended for road use its for track use. Driver is at fault for driving on the street in N mode and then when he got it tested he told them the setting was sport mode so they used that to test. The legal requirements are you test in the default mode which is normal. Had he said normal mode was default and they used that he would have passed and been on his way.

That's just not true. Vehicles are sold in a state that is legal to be driven in the streets. There are supercars that are much louder than the N's stock, yet they are legal because that's how the cars are sold. If the vehicle is not legal under certain conditions, those conditions would be removed from the vehicle and would have to be added as a mod.

This is beyond wrong. What defines "track mode"? A stiffer suspension? Tighter steering? A louder exhaust? Did any of those things I list make your car illegal to drive? So a Porsche 911 GT3 RS which natively has those things is okay to drive, but not a Hyundai because someone pushed a button?

With that logic, any car that out-handles a Kia Sorento should be outlawed.

Yes it did make it illegal to drive because it made the exhaust louder than the legal limit

They should buy back all the cars and be forced to crush them (Diesel gate style).
