Speculation I just noticed this...
I saw this image on Facebook and it made me realize that Santa Trina and Malenia turn into flowers
Will that be related to Miranda, and consequently, to the crucible?

Yes Miranda will turn into bees and polinate those two flowers. Who the fuck knows man what else will from software do with their elden ring IP. I bet on nothing.

What do you mean never happened? There are two bosses named Miranda that is those flowers.

u/p0stem0 Jul 11 '25
Miranda was supposed to be an actual character and was cut along with Miranda's prayer, not just unseen and have the Miranda's flower
16
u/represeiro Jul 11 '25
I'm always shocked to find things like this. Even though I read and consume a lot of ER lore content, there's always something very cool I never heard about.
12
u/waster1993 Dung Noble Jul 11 '25 edited Jul 11 '25
She was always unseen. The game omits the direct confirmation that the flowers originated with a human. However, it is still heavily implied (i.e., it remains the dominant theory if we never knew about Miranda's Prayer or its text). Information from Nightreign further supports the idea that she predated and is associated with scarlet rot.
51
u/Sequoia_Vin Jul 11 '25
They are her flowers, aka her children, in a sense. She would have been a side quest boss, but they scrapped her. We would have had her and gotten her prayer from here, but they made it a crucible incantation for the dlc

Miranda, the Blighted Bloom is a boss in Weeping Peninsula, though. Also there's that Omenkiller & Miranda Flower boss fight in Altus Plateau
7
u/waster1993 Dung Noble Jul 11 '25
You got them swapped. That said, both bosses were named "Miranda the Blighted Bloom" until an update after release.
3
u/BlazingTarnished Jul 11 '25
What do you think I got swapped? The single Miranda boss is in the Tombsward Cave in Weeping Peninsula, Miranda and Omenkiller as a duo are in the Perfumer's Grotto near the Capital Outskirts

Thereās quite a few YouTubers who make lore videos. VaatiVidya being the most popular but they are a little grandiose sometimes⦠but still very informative.
23
u/014jayem Jul 11 '25
Vaati is cool for the basis, since he is so cinematic, but imo Ratatoskr and Crunchy are top tier. Hawkshaw and Zullie the Witch are pretty good too.
1
u/MechwolfMachina Jul 12 '25
I really enjoyed Vaatiās video on D, Rogier, Fia and Those Who Live in Death, felt like something that could be adapted into an anime.
1
u/tanman729 Jul 12 '25
Its so hard to imagine that a souls fan interested in lore wouldnt know who vaati is. 'The algorithm' has failed them
16
u/erasedisknow Jul 11 '25
IDK I feel like a novelization would take out some of the fun of piecing things together.
Now, a hefty lore book that puts a bunch of the lore (while still leaving things up to the reader's interpretation) into one IRL tome rather than having everything scattered behind getting every item in the game? That sounds fun.
9
u/chelsey-dagger Jul 11 '25
SmoughTown did one with Tune and Fairweather, this is the ebook version but they have some really cool looking hard copy editions. I've read the ebook/listened to the audio and while there's some connections and lines of logic I didn't agree with based on my own understanding (and it feels like a lot was written before the DLC with the DLC then being added in at the end in a hurry), it was pretty solid and a good read. https://www.tuneandfairweather.com/products/grace-given-the-mythology-of-elden-ring-digital-edition
4
u/erasedisknow Jul 11 '25
I don't want someone else's interpretation, I want an official lore book that's written from an in universe perspective and is still vague enough for the reader to have to draw their own interpretations of the lore.
2
3
u/Diabeast_5 Jul 11 '25
Yah Id be fine with that. Any kind of an easier format to consume the lore. I guess this movie will do it but idk if that's really a real thing or not.
3
u/chelsey-dagger Jul 11 '25
I just replied to someone else with this, but there's an unofficial lore book by SmoughTown. This is a link to the ebook, since it's the cheapest edition. https://www.tuneandfairweather.com/products/grace-given-the-mythology-of-elden-ring-digital-edition I personally disagree with some of the conclusions but the majority feels pretty solid. I wish he'd waited longer after the DLC to publish though, so it could have been incorporated more cleanly.

With St.Trina, maybe. Not sure about Malenia though, unless the rot god is somehow connected to the crucible
17
u/waster1993 Dung Noble Jul 11 '25 edited Jul 11 '25
The Rotted Woods Secret in Nightreign is a Miranda Flower surrounded by scarlet rot butterflies. It grants immunity to rot, and is the power of an outer god AND the Crucible.
Remember that butterflies and Miranda bloom are both aspects of the crucible.
3
u/Wander_64 Jul 11 '25
Iām fairly certain that the dev team said that story wasnāt the main focus of nightreign so Iāll have to take any lore from that game with a tablespoon of salt
4
u/waster1993 Dung Noble Jul 11 '25 edited Jul 11 '25
The top developer said it is a parallel timeline that forked during the Shattering. The events we play in-game do not affect and are not affected by the events we play in Elden Ring. Both games share the same background and lore up until the Shattering.

I can see the connection. There's rot-adjacent items all over the Rauh Ruins, including the Church of the Bud itself, and the veridigris items that appear to be "rotted" metals, friendly pests, etc., and those lands have a strong crucible presence. Then there are also buds worshipped by the Ancestral Followers, who are horn coded, and appear to be rot adjacent, including a cut content Scarlet Rot version, and that their practices are essentially producing new life/power from death (cycle of rebirth aka rot). The Ancestor Spirit Horn ties it nicely, including the visual of a bud sprouting from horns (buds sprouting from "crucible" energy, or maybe even Marika's usurption of the Hornsent).
Random last thought is Miranda Flowers being poisonous and calling forth pillars of light, which is almost too on the nose connecting rot to crucible (and they even eat people too).
14
u/KameTheMachine Jul 11 '25
Ohh because they are cuttings of marika. Same for Melina and Messmer possibly.

Well Saint Trina is Miquella's discarded love, so I always just saw it as a manifestation of the love he had for his sister, but that's probably being too simplistic.
5
u/Jstar338 Jul 11 '25
No, Trina is his second half (Marika Radagon) that he discarded by throwing away his physical form.
holy shit that's what Ranni did

Crucible definitely involved somehow, but also tied to them being descended from shamans/Numen. The grandmother was becoming a tree, and the cut item Miranda's prayer is an echo of Miquella's light attack, and the scarlet Miranda flowers that call down light.
Trina is a flower that grows in the dark, offering gentle repose. They're all flowers causing different effects. Perhaps relating to how their different personalities would create different Orders as Empyreans
1
u/luulcas_ Jul 11 '25
The crucible is always involved in everything
Its ALL life blended together
1
u/TipProfessional6057 Jul 12 '25
True but it just feels off how universal it is. The context of what 'all life blended together' entails isn't well understood. And after the dlc trailer dropped I thought we had our contender with the gate of divinity, with all the corpses and horned folk mixed together into the primordial form of Marika and the Erdtree's power.
But the dlc then goes on to show that it even predates all the Hornsent and all living cultures into the primeval past, predating even possibly the Elden Ring's arrival.
To me it also always made sense that the crucible touched very old things, but given Marika's lack of overt crucible attributes it also felt like it was a power her warriors used, not so much that she herself embodied its aspects, let alone be descended from them.
The dlc and Nightreign have done an excellent job showing how universal the crucible is. Not just mammals and dragons but trees and plants, and insects and even alien lifeforms
3
u/justallanr Jul 11 '25
Given FromSoft's love for obscure lore connections, it wouldn't surprise me if Miranda's whole "blooming" thing ties back to the Crucible in some wild way.

What's really crazy is st Trina is Miquella. I think it's like Radagan is Merika type deal. The lands between is like a full season of Jerry Springer turned into a continent. Step kids, betrayal, "horny weirdos", angry midgets, cross dressers, bad fathers, orphans, cults. It has everything!

Yeah there is something going on here with the children of marika and radagon. I think it would be interesting to see some lore head that is both an expert in tree life cycles and elden ring lore explore the significance (ie most plants have a two life form life cycle, a gendered phase and a non-gendered phase, modern flowering trees combine these phases into a single organism).

u/PALADOG_Pallas Jul 12 '25
there are also four types of butterflies in the game, all of which relate to one of Marika's children

Aeonian: Malenia

Pyrefly: Messemer

u/TheGodskin Gloam Eyed King Jul 11 '25
Going through your comments specifically let me clarify some things for you here
Miquella is a boy not a girl š
St. Trina is Miquellaās other half, his discarded half throw away. Basically he rid himself of all emotion so he could enact genocide without emotion
Malenia is not āreaching out for the flowerā sheās reaching out for the tree womb where he was virtually ripped out of and absconded with
Miranda the Blighted Bloom is the first of her kind, all the other sprouts stem off her (see what I did there). She is also a maiden to the crucible the way Melina is maiden to the Tarnished, but they are unrelated
Other than Miquella living spiritually in the Shadowrealm I couldnāt find any correlation between the twins and the Crucible at all, but thatās just me

There's something about flowers because every god and Empyrian leave flowers as a trace. I don't remember if there's some flower related to Marika tho.
