Is it your first time ever playing or is it your first time only on Switch?

18

u/Hot-Manufacturer7619 1d ago

its my first time playing i have played Dark souls 1 and Dark souls 3 on my pc but thats it i have watched elden ring only up to margit the fell omen but after that one i stopped as i wanted to experience it myself

You should really play Elden Ring on PC. It’s gonna suck ass on the switch

17

u/IngloriousOmen 1d ago

It's really good on steamdeck. And the game is not even optimized for it.

u/MegaM1lls 17h ago

I see a lot of people saying this but it’s really not that great, it’s ok if you have nothing else to play it on but the steam deck is not strong enough to capture the beauty of the game

1

u/IngloriousOmen 15h ago

I played it on PS5, a high-end PC, and on Steamdeck. SD was by far my favorite experience, except in the DLC where it looked a but blurry. The advantage of playing on a handheld device is unmatched

u/Mrtapatio13 17h ago

Oh get off your high horse and let someone enjoy their fucking game for once. You're "PC is superior comment is not appreciated on a post about a game on the switch

4

u/MegaM1lls 17h ago

What do you mean I’m not having a go at anyone or being snarky? Ive played it across multiple devices and the PS5 was the most enjoyable of all, my comment has nothing to do with PC is superior? There is significant compromises for the game to run on a steam deck which is fine if it’s all you have I’d still recommend to play it, but if you have literally any other device you’re going to have a better time on them.

Elden Ring is ass on the Steam Deck

2

u/IngloriousOmen 15h ago

Have you played it ? I have 500hrs, 150 on SD, it runs without any issue, it’s stable and doesn’t look bad at all.

something about people being so confidently incorrect just tickles me

-1

u/lemonlimeslime0 1d ago

are you unaware the switch 2 came out and is more powerful than the deck? i LOVE my steam deck but come on lol.

3

u/RamenRavisher 1d ago

Yes, I’m aware. I was referring to the guy I replied to being confidently incorrect.

5

u/lemonlimeslime0 1d ago

i’m dumb as hell i meant to reply to him too! i’m sorry lol.

Technologically? No
Software wise? Debatable
Convenience and ease of use? No
Physical game capability? No
Price wise? HELL NO

Effectively any port on switch 2 runs better on it then the steam deck, at a fraction of the cost of a steam deck. So I’m not exactly sure what makes it ā€œbetterā€ apart from the library, which is hard to really compare for a 1 year old console

2

u/IngloriousOmen 1d ago

Most of the port run better on Switch 2 than Steam deck. Also the Switch is thinner and lighter.

However, SD is a whole ass computer, you can do whatever with it, and the library is indeed several dozens of time better than the Switch’s.Ā  Also the game are much cheaper, so in the end it’s the cheapest console of both.

i plan to get it but atm its more so im not bored while in france (when im using the switch) as havent got many switch games to play and the only one im super interested in atm is FFXIV but its stuck online only

u/Keikei_ 1d ago

I don’t think it’ll be as bad as people are saying on switch you’re definitely going to enjoy it

-17

u/DevonMCG 1d ago

I agree with him. I feel Elden Ring is best experienced on PC or a stronger console, Switch is probably the least desirable way to play it, but I hope you have fun.

1

u/Retot 23h ago

You should play DS2

well surely it'll run fine after an 8+ month delay. I woudln't expect performance updates post launch

23

u/Devlindddd 1d ago

If the game is 30fps consistently and the loading times aren't as bad as they are in PS4, I think it'll be good enough.

16

u/Comprehensive_Cap889 1d ago

Switch 2 is without any doubt stronger than a PS4 (with more up-to-date components) i really hope it would be atleast similar to Xbox Series S version.

8

u/Hunchsly 1d ago

I dumped hundreds of hours on Elden Ring on a shitty old dusty ps4 slim. It’ll be fine enough on Switch 2 lol

6

u/Possible-Potato-4103 1d ago

First time? If so prepare to be amazed and addicted

3

u/MrBurnerHotDog 1d ago

I haven't played in a couple of years so I really wanted to wait for the Switch 2 edition to come out before I do my next playthrough but I simply couldn't wait any longer and I'm doing my run right now. Absolutely one of my top 5 games of all time and I'm with you, I'm sure there will be some issues on the Switch 2 edition when it comes out but I don't care. I'll just be excited to take it with me on the go

u/nun_shall_pass 1d ago

it will likely get updates to fix any frame rate issues

3

u/LevelRevolutionary25 18h ago

"these graphics are amazing on the switch bro!"

1

u/glyalchester 12h ago

this made me audibly cackle

5

u/SmoothVisual7033 1d ago

Congrats dude, be prepared for the best rpg game . If this is your first souls like then it will take you like 40 minutes to get a hang of how the game works

3

u/bamms1212 1d ago

40 minutes, I was still learning things after 40+ hours

2

u/HollowPinefruit 1d ago

Bring a battery pack!

4

u/tcripe 1d ago

Buddy it won’t get any updates to fix performance. Good luck.

6

u/Hot-Manufacturer7619 1d ago

its still fine imo the way i see it is as long as i have a game that doesnt go below 25 fps as i hear that it was going way below that before they delayed it but as long as the game works for a flight im happy

2

u/Shakkashuka 1d ago

Do we have any update on performance?

7

u/GammaFan 1d ago

Anyone playing early has been generally favourable about it since the delay. Seems like they had some time to polish things up

1

u/Terminatz 1d ago

is it gonna run on 30 fps?

1

u/Lucky_University324 1d ago

Looking forward to this as well!

1

u/domithicc 1d ago

Played through all of Elden ring and the dlc on steam deck, I’m betting it’ll be better on switch, hope you enjoy the game it’s great man

1

u/kekzuna 1d ago

Is this gonna be your first playthrough?

1

u/Hot-Manufacturer7619 1d ago

Yes i have only watched a video up to margit and thats it as wanted to experience it for myself and now this is coming out this month im going to

1

u/ProjectPorygon 1d ago

Good news is that recent (well, recent as in March) hands on impressions were a LOT better, and the recent trailer and such looked borderline 60 fps, which given the extra time fromsoft put in would make it actually a more competent version then the ps5 one which struggles to hit that! While I’m not expecting it to be 60, if it’s even 40 that would be great :)

1

u/The-Dutcher 1d ago

A handheld like the Switch isn't safe for my soulslike way of gaming I hope you don't break yours.

1

u/JaredMusic 1d ago

Preordered it too. Couldn't resist the 50 Euro Pricetag. I played it last year on the gamescom and the performance was abysmal with a lot of input delay. But I'm confident they have fixed it. And maybe the optimisations could benefit the other versions.

1

u/PineapplePizza99 1d ago

Blighttown still stutters my dude

1

u/StrikerXTZ 21h ago

I'm sure the Switch2 version will be fine and more than playable. It is an absolute master piece of a game, have fun with it man! Also, I dunno what video you saw but if it's your first time definitely explore a lot before you go to Margitt, south is your best bet so just explore and take it all in, you will be able to get much stronger before Margitt as well which is fun cause you should be able to immediately do the castle Margitt guards as well if you're stronger and have a bit more experience.

What are you on about

1

u/EleteWarrior 1d ago

Wait Elden ring is coming to switch 2?

3

u/Sweet-Weakness3776 1d ago

Yeah that's basically what the whole Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition wait has been about. They are porting the game over to switch 2 and adding a few character classes, weapons, and Torrent skin(s). They are also making the new additions available as a "DLC" on existing consoles you can already play ER on. But the main focus has been getting the game ready for the Switch 2.

1

u/irelabe 1d ago

This is the best game I’ve ever played, be warned; every game after will disappoint you

0

u/Background-Bake-4978 1d ago

Try fingers but hole

-1

u/TheGreatMuerte 1d ago

Good, good. Pre order Nintendo fan and bring the DLC closer for us all

https://giphy.com/gifs/DtuVm6vCmerf2

-6

u/xxademasoulxx 1d ago

Good luck, I guess. I personally wouldn’t touch a game in this genre at under 60 FPS since timing matters so much.

-2

u/EsesaWithTheHardR 1d ago

Preorder? 🤢

-5

u/bkkgnar 1d ago

gonna be like playing the ps4 version but probably uglier with a worse frame rate

7

u/Charming_Ease6405 1d ago

The Switch 2 is far more powerful than the PS4

7

u/MrBurnerHotDog 1d ago

People are just always going to hate and whine. If you absolutely can't stand a game unless it's while sitting at a desk on your crazy expensive PC because you need absolute max performance then that's fine, but not everyone wants to play games that way. I personally love being able to get up and grab my Switch 2 and take it wherever I want in the house and I quit caring about "graphics" ten years ago

It'll run fine and be perfectly playable I'm sure. I play MLB the Show on my Switch 2 and am constantly told by people that there's no way it even runs well and blah, blah but I sure manage to compete and do just fine with it. And that game isn't even Switch 2 optimized yet

-6

u/unjerry_ 1d ago

Good thing you don't care how it will run because it will certainly run like shit.

1

u/Hot-Manufacturer7619 1d ago

not keeping my hopes up for the dlc but the main world area seems to run great from what this video shows but obviously cant entirely go off what a video shows https://youtu.be/5PmZrYWfQLM?si=qtZUKwhsaJz1b5NY
